Good Morning,
Yesterday was such an amazing day! Ann, Dawn and Dottie all flew to San Francisco to attend the Professional Business Women of California Conference. It was held at the Moscone Center and attended by approximately 6000 people.
As Dottie has mentioned in the Diary before, I was the KICK-OFF for the INSPIRE portion of the program. Carolyn Johnson from ABC News San Francisco introduced Ann, Dawn, Dottie and ME! She stated several of my accomplishments and achievements. Then they played a 3 1/2 minute video showing my races, my dancing, my TEAM and my fans. It was beautifully edited and done! At this point, Dottie was reintroduced by the Chairman of the Organization, Ann, and she discussed how MY TEAM hopes I can be a true INSPIRATION to people in their lives and their careers!
As a surprise, the PBWC gave Ann, Dawn, and Dottie the plaque we are showing you in the photo…making ALL OF US Honorary Members. What an HONOR! They have so many distinguished and accomplished WOMEN in this group…but I believe I am the FIRST HORSE! This is absolutely a complete honor and TOO CUTE!
I want to THANK everyone who helped to make this happen. In particular, I’d like to thank LINDA who worked with Dottie on this project for months to be sure it all went very well.
It was a very exciting day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Especially LINDA…thank you again!)

Heartbroken
Dottie, please say this isn’t so. I ride occasionally, but I do not own my own horse and don’t know much about them really. But a friend of mine who rides, jumps and has one of Secretariat’s granddaughters in her stable gave me the following information. “I bet that, once she (Zeny) carries a foal to term and it’s healthy (and they rip it away from her when they deem it time to wean– there is a question to ask while you’re there. How long will they let her be with her baby? When they wean, will they do so very slowly or, as most do, wrench them away from each other and listen to the horrible whinnying that ensues. Not only is the latter absolutely heartbreaking for all concerned, but it’s been shown that it vastly increases cortisol levels which in turn, makes it more likely that one or both will injure themselves or get sick (some deaths have occurred).” I’m totally bummed out by this description of the weaning process. Surely, Lanes End will be very careful and have some compassion for Zenyatta and her colt or filly. Somebody please tell me this isn’t so or am I just naive…
Maria
@Heartbroken
“YOUR NAIVE!!!”
Therese
Heartbroken!?
Get off the pity pot and stop concerning yourself with things that are none of your business. The only thing worth ‘ripping’ is you from this wonderful website casting your distrust on the handlers of the Greatest racing Mare of All Time! Take your bummed out attitude somewhere else. Zenyatta is doing superbly and Michael Baze, a great talent has just passed! How about a reality check?

Hi Zenny, What a great honor to all of you and Congradulations to all. Now you as a horse get the most congradulations of all. Can you imagine the hard work to accomplish this. You are the only horse getting all these special awards and that shows how great tho art. It is surely phenominal and you surely deserve all you have gotten. Your hard work as a racehorse has been realized and the love of the sport with such desire to win has made you what you are, Queen zenyatta. I love you very much and for all those reasons plus your exceptional personality.

Dearest Zenyatta, Today, I had some difficult dental work done, but I brought the commemorative collector’s issue of Blood-Horse magazine starring YOU, to share your pictures and stories with the dentist and his assistant, and we all had a GOOD TIME, talking about you, and looking at your pictures. Thank you, Zenny! Love, Jean.

You are such a wonderful woman Congratulations!!!

Waspish a few notes back, I took a time out. Now, with more stings above, on the same page about how wonderful she and her girls are, and how they all touch us, it just doesn`t make sense that these sincere affections for Zenyatta wind up — again — with some of us picking out words or tones of others of us we don`t value, or want sent away, losing sight of how welcome we all are made to feel here. ~ I just don`t get it, and if that means I`m naive, too, there must be worst things to be. But my gelding, ‘M,’ one time when we ran into a hornet`s nest, stood, getting stung over and over, waiting for me to re-mount, then got us out of there fast. .. . Zenyatta seems always willing to stand and wait for us to get back on track, too, but I do wish we`d stop running her into these stingers, over and over again, and say it`s out of love for her.
Delrene
Congratulations dear Zenyatta on your newest award and to your connections. An incredible accomplishment.
Very sad to lose Michael Baze so young and thank you for the Arlington Park video connection. A wonderful family member lost too young.
Peggy
@DOTTY,I just wanted to say again, Thank you so much for this wonderful site and your great posts. I appreciate you so very much, You John, Ann, Jerry have just been magnificent to Zenny’s fans. I love love love your posts and look forward to reading them everyday. I love Zenny and horses so much, I don’t have one right now but do want another one day. I have been going to Kentucky every year for the last number of years visiting the horses, and everytime I leave to go back home i feel some sort of void I know what it is I am leaving the horses up there and I am really sad. Yep I really want another horse. The farm that my family had when I was a child it went commercial in that area long time ago and we had to sell the horses and cows as they got out one night, someone left the gate open. It could have been catastropic as our farm was nest to the Interstate. All turned out well we got them all back no one got harmed, but my dad said we couldn’t keep them there anymore. The State Patrol helped no human no horse hurt. Was so glad. You are helping fill a void in my life. Thank you ever so much. I know I am getting long I will hurry thee’s a guy up here in my area now that worked on some farms in Ocala, he is working on a farm near here now and told my brother that he will board a horse for me if I want. So we will see I really want to look into it seriously in the future. In the meantime Dotty your a Godsend I hope you know that. I think I told you before but I got to see Zenny last year at the breeders cup, well i stood on my tippy toes and got to see the top of her head as she went over to the saddling area. There was so so many people there as I know you know I was holding on to the guy (a perfect stranger) in front of me and someone was holding on to my back. It was just crazy, the girl next to me yelled well I got to see her ears. It was just wonderful, though. I got over there to the saddling area very early maybe
Peggy
Dotty I am sorry I hit send before I meant to, but I got over to the saddling area at about 5 I stayed there until she came back through again heading to the starting gate I got to see her a little better then. Anyway Thank you again Dotty Ann Jerry John. Love you all Especially you Zenny. Love, Peggy

Linda
Dear Sweet Zenyatta, Dottie, Ann and Dawn,
On behalf of PBWC, thank you again for your participation in what was such a special day and Z’s kick-off to “Inspire” was such a special segment of the program! We are so pleased and proud that you are all our honorary members of PBWC!
Dottie, a tremendous synopsis of the day…..Please know the buzz around Queen Z and the Ladies of Team Z was unbelievable after your Inspire segment and into the evening among the PBWC Board. You all significantly lifted the conference with Z’s story, inspiration, your presense. We thank YOU!
Moving off of INSPIRE for a moment, I want to let you know I am forever GRATEFUL for the opportunity to collaborate with Zenny and Ladies of Team Z.
Zenny – let’s plan to have brunch this Sunday and celebrate! I’ll go to the Farmer’s Market on Saturay so we have fresh apples, pears, bananas, and carrots!!
Love and Hugs, Linda

@heartbroken, do not worry. The mare and foal will be fine. Many mares begin the weaning process on their own as their little ones begin to assert their own independance. Sure there is some distress but they adjust quickly. The little ones get to spend time with thier playmates and Z will get to relax with the girls. Kind of like when you drop off your child for the first day of school or send them off to college. We all adjust and Z and her little one will do the same. Trust those who love and care for her.

Paula Higgins – Black Cavair is racing this Friday evening on TVG
Congratulations TEAM LOVE! Well deserved.
R.I.P Michael. No matter the cause, it was way too soon and you will be missed by both your family and racing fans.

@Kathryn C. well said. Thank you.

“The Great Zenyatta!” You are the most inspirational horse ever, and quite frankly “too cute” as well as magnificent. What a range. So much thanks to Ann, Dottie and Dawn for sharing you with the PBWC – and with all of us.
Patricia
Hey everyone,
Let’s remember this is a gentle website, a respite from a sometimes hectic world. We can agree to disagree in a kind way…
Valeria Cannon
Well MiLady, you’ve done it again, GIRL POWER!:) What more can we say but, ‘TOO CUTE!’ With the accomplishments of you and the ‘Ladies of Z’, you can say whatevvvver you like. ;) How was your Derby weekend, did Charles bring out the big screen for you, I hope so. Tell PQ and the girls, I said hi, okay? It’s seem that it’s the in-thing now for the other fillies and mares to have a catch phrase, More than Real’s is: ‘Keeping it Real’, Rachel’s, ‘Girly Girl’, just to name a few, and they got it from you! TOO CUTE! They truly respect and are in awe of you, so of course they want to emulate ‘the Queen’! When I grow up I want to be just like you, yes I do! ; Again, Congrats to the Ladies of Z, you’re awesome!
Vicki B.
@Kathryn Cogswell – very well said. There are certainly worse things to be than naive enough to hope for better from all of us here.
Maria K.
Wonderful, Congratulation Queen Z!
Stu
Zenny, you are one special horse. We all love you.
Elizabeth
Contratulations all of Team Z! So exciting that you are known and appreciated by so many people of such diverse backgrounds. You are all such an inspiration and encouragement for us. God’s blessings to you all – as always!

@Peggy, LOL I was in that crunch at the paddock at CD for the Breeders Cup, too. I didn’t see more than her ears either. I am not 100% sure they were her ears. I suppose I could have done what others did and staked out a place early, but I wanted to see the races. Plus, it was to cold to stand in one spot all day. :-)
LauraJ
@S in San Diego, nice response to “heartbroken.”
Barbara Wood
@Kathryn Cogswell–great sentiments. I’d love to have met your gelding. Amazing!
Alexandra Bowdoin
Good Morning Zenyatta, I hope the weather is good in KY and you enjoy your day of eating that good blue grass and running and rolling in your paddock…Thank you Dottie for these lovely posts!!
