HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
I want to take this opportunity to wish ALL OF YOU a wonderful, healthy, and happy MOTHER’S DAY!
I am such a fortunate horse! I have so many people who love ME and care deeply for ME. May I extend all of this LOVE and MY personal special wishes to YOU on this day! I’m not a Mother yet…but am hoping to be one by next year at this time. Hooves Crossed!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

“Madonna and Mare” would be the perfect title for this beautiful photograph, which is so appropriate for today. No mother ever looked t a child more tenderly or with more love than does Ann at treasured Zenyatta. Sometimes it seems as though they share a single soul, they are so in-sync with each other’s feelings. Thank you, Sarah. The picture is immensely moving. It is a privilege to be allowed to share in this very special private moment.
Dottie, a very happy Mothers’ Day to you, who do so much out of the goodness of your own heart for all of us Zenyatta devotees. It is a wonderful and knowledgeable son you raised, who is responsible for bringing Zenyatta into Team Z’s and all of our lives We will be forever grateful.

What a great photo of you & Ann…congrats to your friend Zasu! Also, I read that the Derby had record number of fans on hand for this year’s Derby…I am certain that you had something to do with the increased turnout!!! We had our first Derby party and had many people attend that had little knowledge of the Derby and learned a lot about thoroughbreds and how much fun it is to watch and participate…
thanks again for all you do adn we too hope their will be a “little Zen” at this time next year
XOXO

Cindy from L.A. There have been many, many studies done on the effects of lasix in the race horse and that’s why it was important to the industry to be able to use it. After those studies, it did become legal to use it because it did help horses who bled. Help, not cure. To take this away would be a step backward and certainly not in the best interests of the horses. Did you know that over 90% of all horses bleed when they run? When this helps so many (not all,but so many) why would anyone want to take it away? I tend to dismiss what ‘international bodies’ say, when they race their horses 4 miles over 30 fences, carrying 160 lbs. And they are telling “us” how to regulate our industry?
Janis
@Cindy from LA…I thank you for your Lasix information. Sounds like there is a great, drug debate going on in the racing world. From what I’ve read, North America’s drug practices are different from those in the rest of the racing world. Hopefully, whatever happens will be best for the horses.

Hi,Zenny! I hope you are having a great morning with your girlfriends. I had something to tell you. I told you awhile back that I’m pretty shy.Well, I’ve been reading so much about Old Friends Equine Rescue and have donated what I could. Recently, I looked on line and there is a horse rescue within driving distance that I didn’t even know existed.I emailed them and then talked to the woman and I am going to start doing some volunteer work there! I am very excited about it and just wanted you to know. Thank you.
@ AUDREY C: YOUR WELCOME!
Abigail from Montreal
@ Barbara: Battle of Hastings has the same kind of injury but on another leg. dr. Bramlage said it was worse than ArchArchArch but not life-threatening. They will also be operating on him.
Alma
HEY EVERYBODY!
I HEARD FROM A RELIABLE SOURCE THAT QUEEN Z IS IN FOAL!
Shari Voltz
@Susan in Tn I am so happy for you. You will have to let all of us know about your new job. Lucky you and those horses will be blessed with your sweet ways :)
Shari Voltz
@I hope Zenyatta is with foal. Another Zenny in the world. Lucky world :)
Molly
@Alma – Did your source say how far along Zenyatta is and how long they are going to wait before announcement?
Sharon Call
@Peggy One. I don’t know if you read that Pants On Fire won’t be running again for about 3 months because he had “excessive bleeding” after the Derby. I’m guessing that he wasn’t given enough Lasix before the race? This also explains why John insisted that he always be present when Lasix was administered to Z before her races.
Sharon Call
@Abigail from Montreal. So doesn’t this make three horses with the same injury? AAA, Comma to the Top and Battle of Hastings? I think all three had condylar fractures on the front legs that would require surgery.

@Just read that ArchArchArch had to retire. I feel badly for him. I also read that the number of people at the Kentucky Derby was up. I think Zenyatta had a lot to do with this. She is the Queen. I am going to tell my class she is with foal. How far along is she? Thanks :)
Elizabeth
Two Amazing and beautiful women! The photo says it all. You have so many wonderful family members, Zenny. Hoping your springtime there is wonderful.
PS Zazu is beautiful and loved to watch her run too!

@ SHARI V: much appreciated :)
Annie
Zeny, I hope the rumors are true and that all is going well. The anticipation is overwhelming. Oh, please say it is so, Zenyatta.

@Diana S–I have posted this before, but I think it is appropriate in response to your post and the fact that mother’s day is upon us. My mother owned thoroughbreds, her barn was right next to Rex Ellsworth in California and I used to see Swaps work out before he went to Kentucky in 1955 and won the Derby. Her favorite story was about her being present at the 1940 Santa Anita Handicap, Seabiscuit’s last race. I just wish I could hear the story from her one more time. She eventually got out of horse racing when her trainer was murdered. But, I cannot attend the races or watch on TV without thinking of her.

What a beautiful photo of Z and Ani. Two loving, warm, wonderful ladies.
nina
Z you are the best! Let’s see if that foal can catch his mom.
Alma
@Molly – Apparently it’s been several weeks. They don’t want to announce it yet because of the previous miscarriage. They want to wait this time. They saw how emotional people got and they don’t want to put her fans through that again until they are sure the baby is fine.

Beautiful picture Zenyatta. You and Anne have such a wonderful bond. Stay safe, healthy, and happy. We love you so much and only want the best for you big, sweet girl:)

@Alma-Can’t wait for the official announcement!!!

Sorry to hear about ARCHARCHARCH…and Pants on Fire…can someone tell me why they give lasix as a pre-race medication…I know why humans are administered this medication, but not horses…Hope POF recovers and is it true about Zenny possibly being in foal?
Thanks for the info anyone…
and thank you to all of the horses and teams that helped to provide us with a spectacular Oaks & Derby!

There is nothing like being loved by a horse. Ann Moss obviously knows this very well. Precious photo!!
Barbara Wood
@Abigail from Montreal–thanks for the update on Battle of Hastings.
I did not know about Comma to the Top. If anyone has any info. on Alys and Seagull, please let us know. Pacific Queen is adorable.

@susan in tn. Congrats on your new volunteer work with the horse rescue. That’s a doubly great thing – to be with horses and to help a rescue group. Keep us posted on how it goes with that.
BTW, thanks for your thoughts on Jess. I wish I had her back too.
