Hello,
Yesterday I shared my HORSE OF THE YEAR trophy with YOU!
In 2010, the Eclipse Awards honored me with 3 different Awards: Horse of the Year, Champion Older Female, and the Special Eclipse Award for the contribution MY TEAM and I have made to the Industry! I am so fortunate!
At this time, ALL 3 of MY 2010 TROPHIES have arrived. My owners have them safely in their possession. John is TOO CUTE! He arranged them in this setting to get this photo to share with YOU!
Dottie was commenting to Ann and Jerry the other day that they now have 5 FABULOUS ECLIPSE AWARDS….WITH LOVE FROM ME. Literally, they could have the 5 Awards running in a race of their own on their fireplace mantle. TOO CUTE!
The GOLDEN ECLIPSE TROPHY is definitely one that brings tears to my eyes! I truly worked hard to earn all of them…but this one means so, so very much! My team and I not only worked hard…but so did all of YOU! To me, it truly means WE DID IT!
I know I have said this many times…but having seen these awards now, I must say it again. THANK YOU for all of your support, love, encouragement, and cheers! I could not have earned these honors without ALL OF YOU! I hope you enjoy sharing them with us in these photos…and know in your heart that YOU played a very special part along with MY TEAM and I in achieving these honors!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

@Christine in Michigan. THANKS! I checked Versus on my listing here in GA and OMG, I get to see the Oaks today. I’ve never seen it before and I just can’t wait. I didn’t know they are covering the Derby that long tomorrow. I thought I would have to wait until 4:00 EDT but now I can start watching it at Noon in GA. Yeah. I am so much more involved in it this year all because of Zenyatta and this web site. I actually know the names of the horses, owners, trainers, jockeys, etc. It makes it much more interesting and so much more fun.

Oh Zenny, watching other horses race is nothing like watching you. I feel the same as many other of your fans – I miss you on the track. Of course I am happy that you are healthy and resting on your laurels now :) – and you have a lot to rest on – but you were one exciting, awesome horse. You had it all – the talent, the looks, the personality. Have fun during Derby week – do you have a favorite?? I’m cheering on your friend Zazu today, and I kind of like Pants on Fire for tomorrow (the name is a hoot!).
Take care Zenny and keep us posted on your love life, ok?
Dawn Conrad
@Shari – Wow!! Sounds like such a fun day, wish I was there. I was really sorry to hear about Uncle Mo, but like you, glad that he is not being pushed.
@Sue Noel and Sharon Call – I am right there with you ladies when it comes to the equine movies. There are so many great ones! Many of those you mentioned are favorites. Do you remember the movie Smoky, with Fess Parker? I love movies and have a huge collection.
@Especially Horses – Love your selection process. Too fun!! Thanks for the mint julep recipe.

By giving these awards to you everyone knows how special you are and what you have done for the horse racing industry. You are one of a kind and there will never be another Zenyatta. Love you more than you know. XOXOXOXO. Thank you Dottie and team Z for sharing your girl with the world.

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
Good morning to you and your loved ones in Kentucky! So much excitement building…I came across this interesting article sent to me this morning:

………………..
Especially horses – Yum! I’ll try not to Stay Thirsty! Thank you.

p.s. Will miss MO, but glad he is getting R&R.

I was pleased to read that the connections scratched Uncle Mo. If he is “not right” he should not run! Did anyone watch the PBS show “Thoroughbred: Born to Run” last night? It was very good. I bought the DVD this morning on shoppbs. Well worth the $19.99.
Carolyn Caswell-Brown
Good Morning Zenny, Thanks for sharing your beautiful trophy pics with us. Loved seeing them lined up like that. In view of the events of the last few days – untimely sad loss of Devil May Care from cancer, uncertain diagnosis & future of Uncle Mo, and let’s not forget the “disappearance” of last years brilliant filly champion Awesome Feather, your life & racing career have truly been a blessed & “watched over” miracle. I am thankful everyday for your continued good health & the inspiration you provide us with. Just pausing here to share with you my moment of gratitude. Love & peace
Astrid
Thank you for sharing this beautiful pic. of the trophies. Zenny, no one deserved these awards more than you and your team! You are such an amazing horse. Truly special! Wishing you a happy day, lots of luck to Zazu and healing thoughts for Mo!

@Nina Kaiser-You are correct. Zenyatta should have won horse of the year twice. After she won the Breeders Cup Classic in 2009 none stood taller than she. I guess we should be grateful she lost because I think that it convinced the Mosses to let her run in 2009 after there had already been a retirement ceremony in late 2009 at Hollywood Park. @Sue Noel–Always enjoy old horse racing movies. My favorite is “Kentucky”, which was made in the 30s. Walter Brennan gives an outstanding performance, saying his horse has “the look of eagles.” That would certainly describe Zenyatta. Try to catch that one if you can. @Charlotte Farmer–This is indeed a historical time for racing. Years from now people will be talking about having seen Zenyatta run.
Terry Crow
I should have said the Mosses let her run in 2010.

Does anyone know if the Kentucky Derby will be available as a free live stream online? We don’t have a TV at work. :( Thank you for any help!

ALL OF THE TRIPLE CROWN RACES ARE ON NBC THIS YEAR.

Dazzling! If one does not already exist, the Mosses might consider consigning a special trophy room to accommodate all of your riches. The statues are the solidification of so many memories for all of us, both personal and private, and produce a cornucopia of emotions: the near-giddy. nerve-jangling sense of anticipation which preceded each and every one of your races; the heart-stopping rush of awe, often companioned by tears, at the sight of your bundled mass of beauty in the paddock and post parade, so tightly coiled that you could not do anything but dance to release the tension from a wellspring of joy that resided deep within; the near-deafening wall of noise which rolled like a royal carpet into the stretch to greet you as you gobbled the ground in Boadicean lengths, confounding and exhausting your competition and leaving us breathless and bedazzled in your wake. From our places in front of the television and in the stands, many of us were running hard to win our own races against life-threatening illness, financial hardship, loss of beloved people, and all of the maladies which frequent the human family. Your greatness flashed like a brilliant streak of lightening across our lives, illuminating us from within, and giving us a sense of strength which will never fade. Place yet another trophy in your cabinet, Zenyatta, invisible, but nonetheless real. You are the “Horse of our Hearts,” forever.
Lauren
Dear Zenny – How beautiful your trophies are – just as beautiful as you. I hope you have been having a nice visit with your family. Good luck to all of the beautiful horses this weekend. You will always be Number 1 in my eyes. Love you beautiful girl. Have a blessed day!!!

Dear Zenny & Team-Z,
It’s a beautiful picture (via HRTV) at Churchill Downs, a sea of PINK and sunshine on OAKS DAY!! Safe trips to all the wonderful Thoroughbreds and their jockeys, today and tomorrow. My exacta-box for the Oaks is Zazu/DaisyDevine.
Thanks for the photo of your ECLIPSE Trophies for 2010! Quite impressive. Zenny, I hope “the sun shines bright on your old Kentucky Home”, today and always.

ESPN Classic is currently running replays of past Kentucky Derbys. The last two were Seattle Slew and Affirmed. The next one will be Spectacular Bid. Enjoy. It is sort of a jolt to see and hear Howard Cosell again.
