Hello,
Yesterday I shared my HORSE OF THE YEAR trophy with YOU!
In 2010, the Eclipse Awards honored me with 3 different Awards: Horse of the Year, Champion Older Female, and the Special Eclipse Award for the contribution MY TEAM and I have made to the Industry! I am so fortunate!
At this time, ALL 3 of MY 2010 TROPHIES have arrived. My owners have them safely in their possession. John is TOO CUTE! He arranged them in this setting to get this photo to share with YOU!
Dottie was commenting to Ann and Jerry the other day that they now have 5 FABULOUS ECLIPSE AWARDS….WITH LOVE FROM ME. Literally, they could have the 5 Awards running in a race of their own on their fireplace mantle. TOO CUTE!
The GOLDEN ECLIPSE TROPHY is definitely one that brings tears to my eyes! I truly worked hard to earn all of them…but this one means so, so very much! My team and I not only worked hard…but so did all of YOU! To me, it truly means WE DID IT!
I know I have said this many times…but having seen these awards now, I must say it again. THANK YOU for all of your support, love, encouragement, and cheers! I could not have earned these honors without ALL OF YOU! I hope you enjoy sharing them with us in these photos…and know in your heart that YOU played a very special part along with MY TEAM and I in achieving these honors!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z
Mike

Zenny, as the Triple Crown begins Saturday, I must tell you that all my years following racing I’ve always longed to see a Triple Crown. I wasn’t reallly following racing that much in the 70’s. I don’t long for that anymore. I’ve seen you, and that is more than enough. Here’s going you in wishing all the derby horses a safe trip. At the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

Zenny…You are the horse of this lifetime for me and I was born with horses everywhere I looked….Thank you for sharing these lovely pictures of your awards..susie

Congratulations Z!! What fabulous awards! Thank you for sharing, especially during this very busy & exciting Derby and Oaks week. Even though you are no longer racing, you have two new fans. My friends caught you on 60 Minutes and Linda made her hubby watch telling him that I had been lucky enough to see you race in person & meet you the very next day. Ed thinks you are fabulous and very beautiful. They are sports fans so they can really appreciate a great athlete. I hope to meet some of your other fans Saturday at the TROTT party at Santa Anita. We hope to raise lots of money for the retiring racers. Have a fantastic day! Good luck and safe racing to all this weekend!

I think John is manning the site as Dottie and
the Mosses are in KY. Thanks so much John

Those are beautiful trophies for a beautiful girl. You don’t know how much it kills me to know that you are so close to me, but I can’t see you. My dream is that one day I will be able to see you in person. I love you so much, Zenny. I will be cheering for Zazu tomorrow. I hope it’s a safe race for everyone (hooves crossed). Loving you in Lexington :-)

Sorry Ya’ll about the “ears” comment”. But this statue just doesn’t do her Justice. She’s Is SOOOOO much more beautiful, alive and Always alert, than this sculpture portrays.
Lynne
Zenny and Team – the awards look just fantastic, all together like that. On another subject, when do you think you will be visiting Bernardini again?

We love you Zenny, SO much! I cant tell you just how MUCH I love you. There aren’t enough words in the world to tell you how much I love you! You deserved ALL of those Eclipse Awards and MANY others that you did not get. You warm my heart and when I think of how much you have achieved..It brings tears to my eyes. YOU brought me into horse racing and I can not thank you enough. Because of you, I am going to become a jockey. I thank you Zenyatta, from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for me and for the Sport of Kings(now the Sport of QUEENS).
LOVE LOVE LOVE, Katie(future jockey)

Hi Zenny, you better believe we were on our JOB when it came to you winning HOY. But in reality we know that we have John Shirreffs, The Mosses, Mario and his wife, and all the team, including Mike Smith to thank for being so patient and knowledgeable horsepersons to watch your signals indicating you had reached the plateau where you were ready to decimate the fields you did! Your best race ever??? THE 2010 BREEDERS CUP CLASSIC! What a field…and you never having had dirt in your face like that??? And YOU STILL MADE UP GROUND! You are amazing and we love you! Those trophies belong to you!!!

When the tender and mighty heart of an imperial racemare earns treasure that lets people who admire her — the closest and the farthest off — feel as if they share it with her, some alchemy of giving stands greater than the trophies. ~ She does bring endless smiles and draws a reminder promising that to love her gains recognition for all horses, rippling hope and concern for their protection, even to the least.

You’re magnificent, Zenyatta. So is your team. Thank YOU for gracing us all with your glory.

You are so gracious and generous Miss Z. You earned these trophies with your charm and beauty and athleticism – you are the whole package the likes of which we likely will not see again for a long, long time. You are the best sweety!!
Barbara Wood
Precious Z– beautiful trophies for a beautiful girl and TEAM–beautiful on the inside as well, and SO deserved.
Go Zazu–best of luck tomorrow and safe trips for all.
@Sharon Call–loved your story. How awesome and what fun. Thanks for sharing.
So glad to hear Bernardini got another visit. Hope this one is a “go”.
Good night, sweet girl. Love you always.
Mary
Zenyatta, When can we visit Lane’s End and see you ??????
Sharon in Seattle
ditto Linda in NC – WE, the fans, are the fortunate ones. You raced with heart and soul, Zenyatta and your team made sure you were safe and happy. I’m just giddy to have been along for the ride of a lifetime – with the HORSE OF A LIFETIME!!
Jeanne from Texas
Dear Zenyatta…your comments brought a flood of tears of joy for you, the Shirreffs and the Mosses…and I do so wish you could come back to California where HOME is, Kentucky is nice, but home is home sweet home. Then we could all come see you….and not have to wait until the end of breeding season. My biggest congratulations to all; this is such an honor and so hard to achieve. Together you all did it. WOW! I’m Texas proud! Hugs and Love….Jeanne
