Good Morning!
It is another FUN day here at Lane’s End! I am trying to catch up on all of my BEAUTY SLEEP as there is a great deal of activity happening during Derby Week in town and I want to look my best!
I’ve just been told that I have OVER 80,000 Facebook Friends. This number has really grown since I’ve retired from racing. I can’t thank ALL OF YOU enough for wanting to keep in touch with ME! This is a HUGE number! I’m so proud!
Then The Moss’ and Dottie are coming into Lexington late tonight…so I’ll see all of them a great deal during the next few days. This is TERRIFIC! I am SO EXCITED! I also have some visitors coming who bid on visits with me for various charity auctions. This is always very rewarding. I am so happy to help others in any way I possibly can.
When reading the comments and responses, I am so glad that you enjoyed viewing the 60 Minutes piece again. Marilu V. asked if it was EL VINO working with me on the tape during the program. YES, it was! That is why John always said he deserved the award for SUPPORTING PLAYER! He worked with ME often to help prepare ME for my races and he did a FABULOUS JOB! What a GREAT GUY!
In life, it always takes people working together to make a difference. I was so very fortunate to have so many people who worked hard with me…and cooperated with each other to make it all happen for ME! I couldn’t be more grateful!
Over 80,000 FACEBOOK FANS! This is just TOO CUTE!
Blessing to all of you!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Hi beautiful girl! I’ve been keeping up with you since you went to Lane’s End. You look gorgeous. I saw the 60 min. piece and it was the first time I watched your final race since that day. I was there and have still not gotten over my heartbreak. I stood in the freezing cold for two hours just to get a glimpse of you in the paddock. I saw you prance out onto the track and I couldn’t believe I was seeing you in person.I watched all of your magnificent races including the last one which I know you would have won with one more jump.I still get tears in my eyes when I remember running out of the track so sad. I’m getting better now and seeing you look so happy is all that matters. In my mind you are the greatest! Love, Bev……

Just heard the heartbreaking news about Devil May Care. It takes a special filly to be even considered a candidate for the Kentucky Derby, let alone make it to the starting gate of that classic. My condolences to all her connections.
Trina Nagele
Dearest Zenny, What a charming picture of you sleeping! Thanks for sharing.
@Judy Maass Gadwood— Thanks for the video links, especially for #2 about the autistic boy’s visit with Zenyatta and how that visit inspired the family to incorporate horses in their family life, with amazing results. I’ll share it with a family member who has an autistic son. Zenyatta continues to INSPIRE.
@Mars, Laura J, Kari Bussell and Amy K—Thanks for the great links.
@Mrs. Mary Weiner, Terry Crow, Dona and Mike— Thanks for your posts. It is wonderful to hear from those who have been eye witnesses to racing history.

@Especially Horses–What happened to Devil May Care?? I am at work and have not heard.
LauraJ
@Especially Horses, that is terrible news. She was a talented filly.

Devil May Care, who started in the 2010 Kentucky Derby, was euthanized today. She was suffering from lymphosarcoma. RIP, sweet girl.

Enjoyed the 60 minute piece, but had a little criticism: could they not have played part or all of the “Zenyatta” song by Liza G. Fly? People would go crazy if they heard it, it’s so good !!!

Ms Kaycie Joy, I believe you are correct, Uncle Mo and Auntie Zenyatta, sounds good to me.

Z-So glad you are resting up before your visitors. What an exciting week for the horse racing industry! I’m giddy myself as morning workouts have started at Arapahoe Park, our local track in CO. I can’t wait for live racing on Memorial weekend!
@Mars-Thank you so much for the links to the GREAT articles! I just can’t seem to read enough about Queen Z!

Missing Devil May Care already. What a gutsy girl she was, taking on the boys last year in the Derby. She may have come in beind 9 other horses, but she came in ahead of 10 others. Loved her from the moment I saw her run. Sad,sad, news. Fly free, Devil May Care.
Delrene
Great photo of you in your bedroom fit for a Queen. As you sleep, send up a prayer to Devil May Care. She was a wonderful filly who lost her battle with cancer. Now she gallops with the great ones. My deepest sympathy to her family and connections.
I know you will have fun with your Ca family and Happy Mother’s Day to Dottie and her human family.

RIP, dear Devil May Care.

Said about Devil May Care- I really liked her :(
I’m hoping she did not suffer much with the cancer before going.
Zenny- you stay safe my love.
Terry Crow
@Trina Nagele-Thank you. I was hoping I was not boring everyone with references to past champions. My point being, as great as they all were they did not compare with Zenyatta. I would that some owners will do racing a service and keep their horses racing rather than retire them at 3. I know the money is huge, but our heroes are gone before we really get to know them, John Henry and Native Diver being exceptions because they were geldings. All the more reason to thank the Mosses for keeping Zenyatta competing for another year.

I’m so sorry to hear the news about Devil May Care – truly heartbreaking. Her angel wings will carry her now. May her heavenly life be joyous.

With such a fun exciting coming weekend the news of Devil May Care losing her fight with cancer is so very sad. It was this day last year tht they were picking her number 11 post. We hope she will be there on the Rainbow Bridge waiting for all of us that cheered and loved her.

@livey – it’s all of the above, brain cells, hormone flux (although I’m way, way past that) and anything else I can find to blame it on. Nice to know that there’s someone else on this site that’s in the same boat with me – always good to have company.

@livey
Yes you are right Lanes
End stall. I initally looked at it on my I phone in the
dark late last night. Thanks. When I looked this morning
I realized it was LE.
Zenny have a great Derby week with lots of visits and rest and fun with BBF. PQ looked sooo cute on the 60 minutes video. She is sooo sweet and really enjoys you. Sweet Dreams and happy ovulating !!!!
Sally (B)
Lovely sweet Z; you look so content ready for your beauty sleep! Like to be there to give you a kiss before bed rest and stay with you!! I certainly need my beauty sleep–about 2 months of it! When one loves another they are so happy for the others’ “good times & fortunes”. We all are so happy you’re having family this week often!! I wish a win for the Moss’s horses racing and to all of them a safe journey. (Including the jockeys) All these injuries heading for the Derby I feel so badly about. Then I think of you Z; you are the most remarkable athlete and competitive winner!! God heard all of us here to keep you safe. love with a kiss on your soft nose.

Zenyatta, I hope by now you have spent time with your family today. I know they were excited to see you. My heart is breaking after hearing the news about Devil May Care. I had been emailing Mr. Greathouse on her condition and knew she wasn’t getting better as they thought she should have. He loved her so much and was always so appreciative for me checking on her. RIP My sweet girl. Hugs and Kisses to you Zenny.

I’m so happy your two-legged family are coming to visit you again, Zenyatta. It was lovely to see you on “60 Minutes” again. May your retirement continue to be wonderful and thank you to Dottie for keeping us in touch with you.
Cathy Marshall
Enjoy your visit with your family and friends! I hope the weather is a lot nicer for you. Best of luck to Zazu too!!

Such sad news about Devil May Care. Cancer, a truly ugly beast to all. Positive thoughts and prayers to all that are dealing with this disease.
What a caring man Mr Greathouse seems to be from the article that I just read on drf.com. Had to google Devil May Care to find it and it was the last heading on the first page. Zenny you are so blessed and also the hope that will get all horse lovers through yet another tragic story.
Hope you have a great visit with your family this weekend.
@Shari Voltz–the messages from your kids were so enjoyable and sincere.
@Dawn Conrad–can’t wait until you get your #19. :)
Can’t wait for Friday and Saturday!
Lotsa love to all.
