Good Morning!
It is another FUN day here at Lane’s End! I am trying to catch up on all of my BEAUTY SLEEP as there is a great deal of activity happening during Derby Week in town and I want to look my best!
I’ve just been told that I have OVER 80,000 Facebook Friends. This number has really grown since I’ve retired from racing. I can’t thank ALL OF YOU enough for wanting to keep in touch with ME! This is a HUGE number! I’m so proud!
Then The Moss’ and Dottie are coming into Lexington late tonight…so I’ll see all of them a great deal during the next few days. This is TERRIFIC! I am SO EXCITED! I also have some visitors coming who bid on visits with me for various charity auctions. This is always very rewarding. I am so happy to help others in any way I possibly can.
When reading the comments and responses, I am so glad that you enjoyed viewing the 60 Minutes piece again. Marilu V. asked if it was EL VINO working with me on the tape during the program. YES, it was! That is why John always said he deserved the award for SUPPORTING PLAYER! He worked with ME often to help prepare ME for my races and he did a FABULOUS JOB! What a GREAT GUY!
In life, it always takes people working together to make a difference. I was so very fortunate to have so many people who worked hard with me…and cooperated with each other to make it all happen for ME! I couldn’t be more grateful!
Over 80,000 FACEBOOK FANS! This is just TOO CUTE!
Blessing to all of you!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

The Importance of BEAUTY SLEEP cannot be over-emphasized! Enjoyed the 60 minutes piece. It’s still breathtaking to watch you run. Love & Peace

Concerning the auction to spend time with the fabulous Zen, I believe the winning bid was $15,000, & they did not announce the names of the winners, but I’m sure they’re happy!

Dear Zenyatta the children loved this picture. Some of them wanted to post. Just don’t pay attention to the spelling. I did not have time to check it. I hope you have sunshine and a wonderful time with your family. They love you so much. The children and I read an educational article on the Kentucky Derby. Did you know the first Kentucky Derby was won by a horse named Aristides? The date was May 17, 1875. The crowd in attendence was 10,000. There were 15 three year olds entered. Of course the children wanted to know if you ran that race and I had to explain at three you were not yet ready. Well my sweet girl I must go get some things ready for next period. We love you and send Giant Hugs and Kisses to you. Love, Shari and Homeroom 215 XXXOOO

WildHorses,
Thanks for the information. Please post if you hear anything! Often times, Ensign also appears to have inside scoop on Zenyatta news. Maybe he’ll share as well. :)
Thank you, laurenH

Z, you adorable girl. You look just too COMFY in your deep straw. Makes me wish I could snuggle in with you and talk a while. I would bring carrots.
In my dreams, I would love for you to have one baby for the Mosses to keep and then go to Kentucky Horse Park where you could get back in on the action, They do have paddocks there, you know, and they lost two major superstars in John Henry and Alysheba, not to mention others. You would be a perfect ambassador for the aport there. As I say, no one asked m, but I think it would be perfect for you and your adoring fans. You are such a national treasure, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

I mean to say “no one asked me”–getting used to new computer.

Dear Zenny, it’s such a busy week for the Derby, just want you to enjoy it and all your company. Rest because all the cameras will be flashing for sure. Thank you from the bottome of my heart for keeping all of your fans included in your happenings and up to date on you. We all still love you so much and want to know your progress in this chapter of your life. I pray one day I get to see you in person, will continue to wait for the opportunity. Enjoy your time with all your friends. :)

And God bless you, dear Zenyatta.

@DJ The children are in party mode. The afterschool program had them make Kentucky Derby hats and Jockey vests. I think that is so Cool :)

Love you forever Z!!!! You are a magical wonder!!!!

Zenny, your neighbor at Hollywood Park, COMMA TO THE TOP, left you a message on your FB saying he arrived safely at Churchill Downs and is comfy in his stall. Yea! Rooting for our home town boy in the Derby. He looks so handsome on race day in his bright pink hood, easy to see. He has a great facebook page, lots of updates and he is soooo excited to be in The Derby.
Sharon Call
@livey and Cindy in LA. If I’m not mistaken, that is her stall at LE. If you look at pictures of her stall at Barn 55, she didn’t have any windows in it and the walls were made of OSB. Her stall at LE does have a window, which the picture above shows.
Sharon Call
@livey. Sorry, I meant to say that you’re right, that’s her stall at LE. Got my cart before my horse. LOL.
Sharon Call
@jim mattos. She’s not sad, she’s sleeping. Have you seen pictures and videos of her out in the paddock with her girl friends? She’s one happy horse.

@Judy Maass Gadwood–thanks for re-posting the link–did not realize there were 3 GREAT videos!
@Kari Bussell–fun to watch Giacomo close!

@Sharon Call-That’s what I thought. And nice digs at that! I wouldn’t mind taking a nap too in that beautiful hay. Not a hay expert, but it looks awfully inviting…like creme de la creme of hay!!!
.
And your last sentence gave me a chuckle…do it all the time on here. So much so, that I’ve given up correcting myself. :\ Old age-dying off of the good brain cells or flux in hormones. :\
LauraJ
@Amy K, it is past the point where Mr. Commons can be entered in the Derby. The entries are out and he is not among them. Twenty-two horses were entered. Sway Away and Ruler on Ice did not make the graded earnings cut. Mr. Commons will probably be entered in the Preakness.

@Kennedys, FYI Arienza is entered in the G3 Eight Belles under Ramon Dominguez. She drew the rail. It’s the 7th race on May 6 and is at 7f. She’s carrying 116 pounds, as is most of the rest of the field. Pomeroy’s Pistol gets 120 lbs and Victoria’s Wildcat carries 118.
Sue Fredrick
Zenny you look so snuggy and comfortable, that Lanes End does take such good care of our Queen.
@J Smith I too noticed so many derby contenders have A P Indy in their pedigrees he is a truly great stallion.
@Kari Bussell love your comparison of Zee to Michael Jordan, TOO FUNNY !!
Hope their going to let you watch the derby so you can root for the team, I know I’ll be watching and rooting for them.Luv and kisses on your nose

Love the picture. My first thought was how I would love to sit in the hay next to Z, and hug her neck.
I am looking forward to watching Oaks & Derby. I wish all a safe trip. I will be cheering for Zazu and Joyful Victory. I also really love Mucho Macho Man, but I will also cheer Rosie on Pants on Fire – a woman jockey, and from my home state.
@Judy Maas Gadwood – thanks for the video link. I had not seen this before, and really enjoyed it. In watching Z run, I cannot imagine anything other than she inherited the large heart gene.

Hi, Zenny! I wonder if your family is there yet with you. It’s a beautiful day here in Tennessee- I hope Kentucky is getting the same weather! Enjoy your visit, sweet girl.
@ SHARI V: welcome to our new posters! how fun!
@ LAURA J: how did your horse’s first official work-out go? thanks for the race info!
Warm wishes to all-
Pam Green
We are keeping our hooves crosed for Zazu on Friday and have to hurry home from work to catch some of the races. Bet you are very excited about the races and everyone coming into town, hope you get some pears and carrots to eat while watching the Oaks and Derby, now stay calm not like us when you were out there racing. Have a great weekend end with your family Queen Z.
