Good Morning!
It is another FUN day here at Lane’s End! I am trying to catch up on all of my BEAUTY SLEEP as there is a great deal of activity happening during Derby Week in town and I want to look my best!
I’ve just been told that I have OVER 80,000 Facebook Friends. This number has really grown since I’ve retired from racing. I can’t thank ALL OF YOU enough for wanting to keep in touch with ME! This is a HUGE number! I’m so proud!
Then The Moss’ and Dottie are coming into Lexington late tonight…so I’ll see all of them a great deal during the next few days. This is TERRIFIC! I am SO EXCITED! I also have some visitors coming who bid on visits with me for various charity auctions. This is always very rewarding. I am so happy to help others in any way I possibly can.
When reading the comments and responses, I am so glad that you enjoyed viewing the 60 Minutes piece again. Marilu V. asked if it was EL VINO working with me on the tape during the program. YES, it was! That is why John always said he deserved the award for SUPPORTING PLAYER! He worked with ME often to help prepare ME for my races and he did a FABULOUS JOB! What a GREAT GUY!
In life, it always takes people working together to make a difference. I was so very fortunate to have so many people who worked hard with me…and cooperated with each other to make it all happen for ME! I couldn’t be more grateful!
Over 80,000 FACEBOOK FANS! This is just TOO CUTE!
Blessing to all of you!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

LOVE the photo of Zenyatta snuggled in bed!
For anyone who hasn’t read either of the articles linked above in this blog, please take the time. They are full of wonderful information about Zenyatta in her early years.
Most importantly, they make it clear that Queen Z has been blessed since day 1 to be surrounded by people who love her and treat her with magnificent care. And in return — she gave us all the gift of herself and her extraordary talent.
Happy Derby Week to all!

Zen, you worked really hard as a racehorse so the beauty rest was well deserved. I’m glad that your human connections are coming to visit as well as others who bid on visits with you for charitable causes. I plan to visit you one of these days if and when LE permits. Take care.
Brenda
Have a wonderful visit with your family and hopefully Mike will have time to dash over from Louisville to see you. Victoria and I are looking forward to the Oaks and the Derby and hoping that the weather is better in Kentucky than it is here in Fort Erie. Safe trips to everyone.

Dear Laura J:
Very cute. I thought of John trying to wake Life is Sweet when I saw this photo. Hugs, Judy B.

You look so darn adorable taking your nap! Makes me wish I could curl up with you there in the straw. :-)
Blessings back to you and all your peeps; I hope they have a safe and wonderful trip to Kentucky, and lots of love time with their special girl. Many thanks to them for sharing you with us.
Love you, love you, love you!

Beautiful Z – so happy your family gets to be with you again. Assuming your date with Bernie was a birthday gift, we could be hearing next week that all is well on your journey to motherhood.
I see Toby’s Corner has been withdrawn from the Derby and Derby Kitten is drawing in. I know Mr. Commons had a good work just in case, then John decided not to keep him in a holding pattern a couple days ago. Can he change his mind and enter or is that disallowed? Good luck to our beautiful gray Oaks fillies – may they come home safely in first and second (or dead heat).

@Mrs. Mary Werner–I have also seen many great ones in person, some of the ones you mentioned in addition to Determine, Native Diver, Affirmed, Ack Ack,and Spectacular Bid, among others. I have not seen the likes of Zenyatta before or since and will probably never see another who comes close to her ability. I would like to thank the owners for allowing this great mare to compete another year. Many posters have expressed this sentiment, but I would like to add that racing is not the same since the Queen retired.

Dear Mars: Thank you for the link of the Don Robinson interview. I has read it before, but enjoyed it again. Judy B.

Zenny – you are a wonderful and beauitful horse, I get tears in my eyes everytime I look at you or watch or read anything about you. We are so bless to have you!
Denise
Hey Z,
I was wandering if you could get me tickets to the derby and a meeting with Mike Smith and to top it off a visit with you ? Now that would be a wonderful dream come true .
Love ya z !
Margie
P.S. @mars – the Don Robinson interview was a real treat to read. Thank you for posting it.
WILD HORSES
Just wanted to let everyone know that the status of the gorgeous one’s “in foal” I think is being kept private until things are a little more “set in stone”. I would suppose they would want some time to pass to make sure all is a-ok. I respect that decision and think Big Z and her connections are very deserving of some privacy after all they have been so generous to share with us. Let’s just all say our prayers for her and hopefully we will hear some great news when the time is right for all. In the meantime as far as the Derby goes, I’m Dialed In. When he won the Florida Derby the commentators said his run was very Zenyatta-esque. The way he came from the back just loping along until he was ready for his one big run does kind of remind me of YOU! He’s a cutie too, but no one will ever be quite like you to me. Afterall there is only one QUEEN. Good luck to Zazu in the Oaks also, she drew a good post. Wish Mike’s Joyful Victory had not drawn the rail, but I guess they will have to overcome to figure out a good trip. Enjoy your visitors! Love Ya, Lori

Dear Mars:
Thank your for the Ocala Style Girl Power article. What a great read. It really tells Z’s story and how special she truly is. The Mayberry’s seem like great people; the same as the rest of Z’s Team. Hugs, Judy B.

Wonderful photo — the first we have seen of Zenyatta sleeping/resting in her stall.
@Laura J and others — thanks for the links. We really appreciate keeping connected with articles we may have otherwise missed.

I hope to one day come and see you. You are so lovely. I watched the 60 Minutes piece. You are so glorious.
Allen
I hope you have a great week with all your family and friends. Can’t wait until all your fans can visit you also. You do not need a lot of beauty sleep, you always look lovely. Now go and get ready to meet all your family. Are you going to tell us who your pick is for the Derby?

Regarding Zenyatta’s reproductive status, I think we are unlikely to hear more until she is safely in foal which will probably not be until the end of May at the earliest.
Margie
@mars – The Ocala Style article was great, too!
Samantha

@Hannah: How and where is the Zenyatta Facebook Group? I am in TX as well.
Natasha Armstrong
I want to see a baby on the ground soon Z when are you going to be making another baby?
hugs and kisses, Natasha

@Ginny Wood: I also thought there would be a time we could visit our Queen, I do believe someone said so when she first arrived. I know it would have to after this ‘sensitive’ time and not as much as the boys, but the BroodMares would have visitors as well. Our retirement homes should take a look a Living Legends in Austrailia, they know how to treat their retired horses and the fans that love them.
Nancy
Love the picture.

Dear Queen-Z & Team-Z,
Zenny’s Team, including EL VINO, obviously
work so well together…like a well oiled machine…but one with a big HEART!! I
think you all must be the best TEAM a race
horse has ever had…and Zenny is the best horse a Racing Team has ever had !!
This is an amazingly fortunate combination.
Thank you for letting Zenny’s fans, like me,
have such an amazing connection to you all.
Hope you all enjoy this exciting Derby Week.
Zenny, you look so cute relaxing in your stall!!
Take care. Hugs to all. Fondly, OraJean
