Good Morning!
It is another FUN day here at Lane’s End! I am trying to catch up on all of my BEAUTY SLEEP as there is a great deal of activity happening during Derby Week in town and I want to look my best!
I’ve just been told that I have OVER 80,000 Facebook Friends. This number has really grown since I’ve retired from racing. I can’t thank ALL OF YOU enough for wanting to keep in touch with ME! This is a HUGE number! I’m so proud!
Then The Moss’ and Dottie are coming into Lexington late tonight…so I’ll see all of them a great deal during the next few days. This is TERRIFIC! I am SO EXCITED! I also have some visitors coming who bid on visits with me for various charity auctions. This is always very rewarding. I am so happy to help others in any way I possibly can.
When reading the comments and responses, I am so glad that you enjoyed viewing the 60 Minutes piece again. Marilu V. asked if it was EL VINO working with me on the tape during the program. YES, it was! That is why John always said he deserved the award for SUPPORTING PLAYER! He worked with ME often to help prepare ME for my races and he did a FABULOUS JOB! What a GREAT GUY!
In life, it always takes people working together to make a difference. I was so very fortunate to have so many people who worked hard with me…and cooperated with each other to make it all happen for ME! I couldn’t be more grateful!
Over 80,000 FACEBOOK FANS! This is just TOO CUTE!
Blessing to all of you!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Abigail – thanks so much for providing the link to another wonderful piece of your research and writing. Brings a tear to my eye, remembering Barbaro’s magical run in the stretch at the Derby. And good luck to Dialed In on Sat., who will wear #8 and who comes from behind. Safe racing for all tomorrow and Saturday —

Dear Zenyatta Good morning from SUNNY Ohio. Yes we have Sun I sure hope you do too. This would be a good morning to eat that blue grass and be with the girls. I hope your family takes many pictures of their visit with you. I want to share a touching thing that happened this morning. I don’t have children of my own but two of my students gave me Mother’s Day gifts. I mean how special. Children just seem to know (like our furbabies) when we need them. My students are very special and loving. I am so lucky to have them in my life. We love you sweet girl. Hugs and Kisses from Shari and Homeroom 215 XXXOOO

Hi My precious Zenyatta.
I am writing to say how much I love you and I am so proud of all your accomplishments. I was just wondering if there has been any news about you meeting up with Bernadino again. I did notice that he has a baby going in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. Just asking, have not heard anything. You are such a special horse and want to keep up to date on all things about you. Love you lots XOXOXO.
Love to your team and thank you Dottie.

Hi Zenyatta did you hear about uncle mo in the Kentucky Derby I wish you could be in it that would be so cool if you were in it In the Kentucky Derby I would go and wear the rally special ribbons you gave Mrs.voltz and my class. I would be cheering you on the whole time my class is having a Kentucky Derby tomorrow :)

@Everyone. I just read an article on Uncle Mo in Bloodhorse. It looks like the article is from yesterday and there are still questions about whether Mo will be scratched or not. The thing that strucke me was the condition of the track in the picture of Mo working. Can you say “Beyond Sloppy”? Poor Uncle Mo almost needed water wings. Hope that improves before Saturday. Here is the link:

I should have read further. There is a more up-to-date article dated today on Mo. Here is the link.

TROTT Kentucky Derby Party Goer’s (at Santa Anita). Prepare yourselves, I have just secured the most fabulous auction item. If you have the winning bid, 2 people will get to spend a Training Day with the L.A.P.D. Mounted Unit, you get to ride their horses, with the whole squad practicing their drills in the covered arena (u can take your own horse if you have one). As if this wasn’t enough of a treat, you also get a gift basket with T’shirt, cap, and other goodies, AND, a BBQ with the guys! How cool is that. U rock LAPD Mounted Unit. I just came back from there and it is a fab facility (on Los Feliz side of Griffith Park). Guess what? 2 of their horses, Kid and Dash, were racehorses, which just goes to show how important organizations like Trott are, retraining off the track TB’s. It takes a horse with an outstandingly calm temprement to be on the police force, but Dash & Kid made it, they serve and protect on a daily basis. Please check Trotts website for details of the event and don’t forget, phone bids welcome on the shippable items from Zenyatta, Uncle Mo, Bernardini, Curlin, Mike Smith, & many more. http://www.trottusa.org
Added bonus, just thought I’d mention, the guys have a gym on site, and use it!!!
Kari, I have decided to root for no one (and that isn’t easy). Then I will enjoy both races and be happy for whoever wins. Who am I kidding! Safe trip for all horses.

I forgot to thank Zenyatta and Team Z, it was because of their involvement with Trott that I found out about them and volunteered my time. I don’t have much $ to donate, but have been able to help with the event which hopefully will raise lots of $ for them to continue their much needed work.

I was rooting for Devil May Care and Lookin’at Lucky last Derby. I cannot believe she is dead. So sorry to hear it. :( :( :( :( :(
On a happier note, with the Oaks approaching so fast I have narrowed my “exacta box choice” to Zazu and Plum Pretty.
@ Zazu: Win!
@Plum Pretty: I hope you come in 2nd!
ZENYATTA:
Be expecting some “fan mail” soon! I have the adress of Lane’s End Farms, and will be writing you a personal letter VERY SOON! Loved the picture! So gorgeous, as always. Enjoy your life! LOL
All the best!
Hugs kisses and carrots~

Just watched this on the L.A. Times website – it’s a simulation of 20 recent Derby winners racing each other. Giacomo, Barbaro, Funny Cide, Big Brown, Street Sense among others. Enjoy!

Zenny, you look beautiful in the morning as you wake up from your “beauty sleep”. Just think Z, if you have over 80,000 FaceBook fans, how many more do you think you have that aren’t on FB?? You have lots of loyal fans pretty girl.
