Good Morning!
It is another FUN day here at Lane’s End! I am trying to catch up on all of my BEAUTY SLEEP as there is a great deal of activity happening during Derby Week in town and I want to look my best!
I’ve just been told that I have OVER 80,000 Facebook Friends. This number has really grown since I’ve retired from racing. I can’t thank ALL OF YOU enough for wanting to keep in touch with ME! This is a HUGE number! I’m so proud!
Then The Moss’ and Dottie are coming into Lexington late tonight…so I’ll see all of them a great deal during the next few days. This is TERRIFIC! I am SO EXCITED! I also have some visitors coming who bid on visits with me for various charity auctions. This is always very rewarding. I am so happy to help others in any way I possibly can.
When reading the comments and responses, I am so glad that you enjoyed viewing the 60 Minutes piece again. Marilu V. asked if it was EL VINO working with me on the tape during the program. YES, it was! That is why John always said he deserved the award for SUPPORTING PLAYER! He worked with ME often to help prepare ME for my races and he did a FABULOUS JOB! What a GREAT GUY!
In life, it always takes people working together to make a difference. I was so very fortunate to have so many people who worked hard with me…and cooperated with each other to make it all happen for ME! I couldn’t be more grateful!
Over 80,000 FACEBOOK FANS! This is just TOO CUTE!
Blessing to all of you!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@Sally (B), twins in horses are very undesireable. The chances of the mare and both foals surviving the birth is estimated to be about 1 in 10,000. It’s equally rare for both twins to survive their first couple of weeks. While TBs have a fairly high rate of twin conceptions, twin pregnancies are never allowed to proceed. One of the reasons TB mares are scanned early and often is to detect twin pregnancies. As soon as one is detected, one of the embryos is destroyed so that the other can survive.

Before modern diagnostic tools, live twins were very rarely delivered. The only twin TBs that I know of by name were fillies Go On Green and Stop On Red. Their sire was To Market and their dam was Danger Ahead. Both mother and twins survived, and Danger Ahead delivered two more foals later in life. Both Stop On Red and Go On Green became modestly successful racehorses and broodmares. A daughter of Stop on Red, Spectacular, was the dam of Champion Spectacular Bid. Go On Green did not leave quite so great a legacy, but she was the granddam of a stakes winner.

I love you Zenny, so much!!! I miss you terribly. Some day, I’ll own a great Thoroughbred like you!! Enjoy Derby Day, I’ll bet if you were running against them; you’d leave the boys crying. God Bless.

Zenyatta, you are very smart to realize that you need your sleep to keep up with all of the horse racing going on. That is a great picture of you. It is great that the Mosses as well as the Shirreffs’-I probably didn’t spell that right-as well as many other buddies of yours are spending so much time with you during the races.

I am Happy to see Zenyatta laying down resting. I recently read that Humans live longer if they get 8 hours sleep a night. Hope the rest helps you live longer Zenyatta. You will always be my favorite horse. You come from behind, and win races, yet you are a gentle soul. Your last race was not lost by you, because your sprint was started too late. That was not your fault. You could have easily been 20 for 20. People who have followed your success, know that without a doubt. You are the Greatest Zenyatta!
