Happy Oaks / Derby Week to Everyone!
Wow! It is hard to believe that it is already May! The weather is a bit nicer here this morning. It is not too hot and the rain in Lexington has stopped for the moment. Everyone in town is hoping that the weather cooperates to make it a fun and fabulous week for all of our many visitors!
My Moss Pal, ZAZU, leaves CA very early in the morning on Tex Sutton’s plane and will land in Kentucky tomorrow around 10ish. I’m wishing her a nice, relaxing flight and a very successful Oaks week. The Moss’ and Dottie will be arriving late Tuesday. I am SO excited to be able to visit with them during the next several days. They did say they were going to spend LOTS of time with ME while they are in town. This is GREAT NEWS!
How about the 60 MINUTES program which aired last night! It is interesting that many people throughout the country were able to see the segment and commented about it to all of my TEAM. In California, the last part of it was interrupted due to BREAKING NEWS! John said that they were able to see it on-line…which is terrific! I know they MISS ME!
I think 60 Minutes did a wonderful job on MY update! It is so special that they were able to show me outside in the paddock with my dear friend, Pirates Queen. The portions on MY TEAM were adorable! Just in case, you did not get to see it last night or live in CA and the segment was interrupted, I’m including the 60 Minutes Link for you! They really did a wonderful job capturing so many special moments of MY LIFE!
Enjoy!

Aren’t “our” John and Dottie too cute — such a lovely, loving, classy couple! Somehow they feel like family.
Loved the 60 Minutes piece. Watching Zenyatta just makes me happy. And seeing her in the paddock with PQ and kicking up her heels was just the best.
I’m sure the reunion of Team Z this week in Kentucky will be terrific. Hope we get to see some photos.
Who to root for — Zazu or Mike? Gotta love Mike. The 60M piece clearly showed how much he loves Zenyatta. In fact, it showed how much love there among the entire team. A classy act all around. It’s fun to be even a tiny part of it through this website.
Happy Derby Week to all!

Enjoyed seeing you and PQ on 60 Minutes last night! I did notice that you were leading the way for your pasture buddy, after all – leading the way is the norm for you ;-)

@Gloria Jeanne. Thank you for the great sites. I never tire of seeing Zenyatta and her team. She is so athletic and so beautiful. I also liked 60 Minutes. She deserves all of the praise and all of the awards. It is nice to think that she will have a visit from her family. Go Zazu! Win the Oaks for Zenyatta and Jerry and Ann Moss.

I saw the 60 Minutes piece last night and I absolutely loved it. I loved the way everyone just gushed over you, including Mike Smith and your trainer. You looked even better than you did in October when they filmed the first segment. I loved the racing segments with you coming from behind. You are truly the most magnificant horse I’ve ever seen! Love you.

Oh and good luck to Zazu in the Oaks!

Beloved Zenyatta,
You were as beautiful last night on 60 Minutes as always. Thank you for putting the link on so we could finish seeing you. We were so sorry when they cut you off. Hoping the Z Pins will be ready soon. Sure would love to have you close to my heart.

Dearest Z the 60 Minutes show was great, even though I did have to watch the last half on-line. You were as elegant, engaging and amazing as you always are. You are a winner in everything you do.
I was at Hollywood Park last Thursday and saw Jerry Moss, John and Dottie, from afar. They exude warmth and class even when there are no cameras around.
Speaking of cameras, the picture of John and Dottie on this post is wonderful. It really captures the essence of these incredible people.
It is great that you will be able to spend quality time with your family this week. It must be fabulous to have such positive energy-yours, Dottie’s John’s and the Mosses-all in one place.
What a gift!!!

The 60 minutes piece was wonderful! Please keep the southeastern U.S. in your prayers. Many in our state of Alabama have been devastated by the storms of last week.

Hi, my beautiful Zenny. I loved seeing you again on 60 Minutes last night, although I do agree with Linda and Roxi that I wish they would have shown more of your life now, but I’ll take anything I can get from you. I hope your friend Zazu has a good, smooth trip to Louisville and I wish her luck in the Oaks. Loving you in Lexington :-)

Can never get enough of this interview, especially the segments with your Mike. Seeing him tear up as he says no man is worthy of you…. brings tears to my eyes every time. Wish there had been more about you in retirement, though, instead of just the 30 seconds at the end. You deserve more than that!!
I’m glad you’re going to get to see you CA family this week! Wishing them all Good Luck this weekend!!!
Love you, Sweet Zen!
Meredith
Thanks for sending the link. I was sad I didn’t get to see it.

I hate to disagree but I think they didn’t spend enough time on the current you. What the last 30 seconds showed you and a pasture mate? You started to do a little friskiness and it ended. I was disappointed. It looked like you were contimplating getting down and rolling. It seemed like they spent alot of money going to Lanes End and then didn’t really show any of it. Most of the program was at Barn 55. And I was upset that I had to go watch it on a little tiny box on my computer instead of the nice 32 inch tv in HD in the livingroom.

Beautiful Queen Zenyatta,
I loved every minute of your 60 Minutes piece. I especially loved running with you, the up-close shots when you came right up to the camera and watching you kick up your heels in the paddock with PQ.
John and Jerry and Ann and Mike said such sweet things about you. They love you and miss you SO much.
Love and hugs!

Our Beautiful Girl, I just loved the 60 Minutes segment. My husband and I both watched it without interruption since it comes on an hour earlier in AZ than CA. It was so good to see you again, I had a smile on my face with tears in my eyes. I loved the quote the reporter said “you are a Ferrari among a pact of Volvo’s”. Our Girl sure was a Ferrari when she hit the track. Such power, Mike Smith must have loved being on you…..what a ride. Hearing John talk about you was so sweet, you couldn’t have been with a better trainer in my opinion. He cared for you and took his time with you. That is special. My husband loved the part that you drank Guinness everyday. My husband loves his Guinness too! :) The best part was seeing you at Lanes End and watching you do your little dance….I miss seeing you dance for us. :) Well, my girl I could go on and on about you but one thing is for sure I’m glad you are happy…..you looked very happy with your new friends in KY. Have fun with your loved ones this Derby week! Btw, cute picture of John and Dottie. See you later Sweet Girl

Hello Zeny and Dottie! Just wondering was El Vino one of the horses training with ZENY at that segment of 60 Minutes? In one of the Diary Post you mentioned how John said El Vino deserved an award for training with you and was behind the scenes for you. Was he in the video – Dottie? Thanks, Marilu
Barbara Grimaldi
THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN YOU THE ENTIRE 6O MINUTES!!!! I already know how beautiful you are to see, but that show really emphasized your strong and statuesque body and head–you really are the loveliest horse I’ve ever seen. To me all horses are beautiful, but you stand out, dear Zenny…in a big way. I think Mike Smith is right–you are probably the greatest thoroughbred who ever lived. I love you, big girl!!!!
Kathy Kimber
@Max, thank you for the info I will check out the sight.
Good luck to Zazu it’s so exciting. Love the picture of John and Dottie it is a keeper. I know you will so enjoy your family this week dear Lady and tell John to take lots of pictures for all of us.
Hugs and kisses

Thank you for the Link! Yes, I missed it because of the News Break but Hey, I got my reward when I watched the video. Towards the end when he says you were made Horse of the Year, they show a pan of the crowd at Santa Anita when you won the 2009 Classic. THERE I AM, WEARING MY BIRTHDAY BREEDERS CUP T-SHIRT AND HAT!!!
Arms in the air, looking like an idiot but what a Birthday gift. I’ll have that moment forever. Being there to see you win, it’s my Birthday and I’m featured in your video of that day. Does it get any better?
Barb
I like the new segment. I’m glad you haven’t stopped dancing Zen. Love ya big girl.
Suzie
@ Theresa M ditto what you said!

I live in Nevada and I missed the last part too so thank you for including the piece on your website.
From just what I was able to watch it brought back so many great memories of the Z. It is true that Zenyatta is just magnificent. To look at her composure and stately grace brings tears to my eyes.
