HAPPY APPLE BLOSSOM HANDICAP DAY!
I just LOVE this race and want to wish all of the participants GOOD LUCK! It was an absolute thrill to go to Oaklawn Park on the 2 different times I participated in the APPLE BLOSSOM HANDICAP—Grade 1.
Mr. Cella and his staff were fabulous to us, the fans outstanding, and the weather was beautiful! I even had a police escort to be sure the traffic was moving right along as I was in the van going to the track from my plane and then when I returned to the plane after my stay in Arkansas.
I must also say that the Apple Blossom trees located by the outdoor paddock were gorgeous! I vividly remember standing under them as I ‘schooled’ for the race. GREAT TIMES and GREAT MEMORIES…for sure!
Also, later today we are drawing the names of the ELITE EIGHT for our contest! The results will be posted in tomorrow’s DIARY!
Again…all the best to MY APPLE BLOSSOM FRIENDS…and to the people who will be part of the ELITE EIGHT! HOOVES CROSSED!
Enjoy your day!
With love,
Hugs to ALL~

@Peggy–Have fun at the sales, and tell us how it was when you get back. You’ve built up the anticipation almost as much as for tomorrow’s drawing of the Elite Eight! Drive carefully, now!

Hey queen z, sorry for making a 2nd post, but just read on-line from blood-horse site that havre de grace won, switch 2nd and absinthe minded 3rd. I was pulling for switch but hats off to havre de grace and absinthe minded for 3rd! Switch ran a great race, just pulled out front too soon. Grace must have been taking lessons from you b/c heard she just kinda sat back and waited. Of course, if you had been there i know you would have taken it girl! Anyway, good race and mostly happy that all horses safe and sound!! Thx for putting up w/ my race report – remember you’re the one that has brought back a greater interest in horse racing my queen!! Love u and sleep tight sweetheart!! @ peggy – what happened w/ silver charm and charismatic? Silver charm is 1 of my fav boy’s. I remember, ’97 or ’98 – won derby and preakness, trained by bob baffert.

@Margie: This is wonderful news! Can you imagine having a drawing of Zenny by Sherril Brooke.

I watched the Apple Blossom H. today, on HRTV…it was an exciting race and Switch ran well, but H.de G. was just a little faster. I’ve never been to Hot Springs but it looks like a beautiful place, this time of year. Happy Weekend to all. Hugs. OraJean

At Oaklawn today, we missed Zenyatta. Five entries and they were good but they were not Zenyatta. And the crowd was not there like last year.
Maria K.
I watched the Apple Bloosom on HRTV today. Too bad Switch did not win but she did good anyway. I miss you Queen Z. Hugs and Kisses. Good luck to the sixteen contestants for the next draw.
Barb France
Zenny, you are so pretty in pink. Sure missed seeing you at the Apple Blossom but watching the video made up for it. Any update on the “Z” pin…maybe you could have the pin in your silk colors also! Have a wonderful Friday.
Peggy
@Trina, Thank you so much for the well wishes. So excited, I will tell everybody about it when I get back. It’s too cute but we kid all the time around here that we think Fla is going to just sink into the ocean with all the traffic going down. These cars Daytona or Bust or Ft Lauderdale just tooo cute. But it is that time of year. This is my first visit to one of the big sales. So looking forward to seeing the youngsters.
Holly Zemba
You are a super model!!!
Kitei
Wow! I miss seeing you like this! You as the fully fit racemare could even stand still so dynamically! Always amazing, Z! ❤
Delrene
Dear Zenyatta – I was there when it was you and Switch….in the stretch run. You nipped past her…. as always. I was pulling for her today, but I’ve seen Havre de Grace and she is a great horse too. None like you. As many have said, we miss you very much at the track. There will never, ever be another like you. You gave us a great show every time.. Looking forwardto hearing who gets to take home the statue.
Have a wonderful weekend. Loved the airplane video. Thank you Dottie and all who help put the website together.

@ Robin
You know they say there are no accidents, that little dog is where he is suppose to be I believe. You are a special person for caring for the little dog. Have a great day.

Hi MiLady and Z family, I too smile when I think of the 2010 Apple Blossom. Especially, when I think on the intro at the beginning of the race, when they called the Queen’s name and she proudly stood there in front of the stands and took a gracious bow. I screamed at loud, ‘no she didn’t’! But yes, she did. Then she went to work, and showed the young ones how it’s done. It was as if she was saying, Yes I Am Zenyatta! <3
Valeria Cannon
oops, fat fingers syndrome! ‘screamed out loud’ ;)
Valeria Cannon
@ Robin, he’s where he’s suppose to be, with you and your family. How about Zennya (that’s what John calls the Queen) or Zenny if it’s a ‘he’.
Hugs and Peppermint Kisses Everyone and woooo hoooo to the ‘Sweet Sixteen’!

Everyone, I think you’ll like this article about Derby hopeful Mucho Macho Man and his connections. They’ve really had some experiences, including M3, he didn’t breath when he was born & had to have oxygen. He is now Z size. It’s good reading…..

If it didn’t link, just go to M3’s fb page. That’s where I found it.

I thought you all might like to know that a one year subscription to Thoroughbred Times is only $5 today on Amazon.com!

Zenny, I was there at the AB a year again. What a thrill to see you run! I also have many great memories of the day and tons of pictures of YOU! I got to meet Ann and we did a little arm in arm dance over your victory. I will never forget seeing you, and your crew. We had to drive a long way but just had to go.
Linda
@Valarie Franklin-Thanks for the heads up on the Thoroughbred Times. Just went to Amazon and placed order! That is a great deal!
@Dawn Conrad-I always look to see if your name has been drawn. I enjoy reading your positive posts. Good Luck to you!!!!
If you do not win, then I certainly hope it is someone who posts on this diary board. I do recognize some names, so for those here still in the running, Good Luck!
Valarie Franklin
@Linda – You’re welcome! I was so excited when I saw it that I had to share! I’ve never been able to afford a subscription to a racing magazine and you can’t find them in Michigan. It will be awesome with Triple Crown season upon us!
Celeste
First of all. you are amazing and I love reading your Diary Posts!! I have been watching the weather and seeing that there have been terrible storms in Kentucky. I hope you are safe.
Jane in Seattle
This isn’t a video of you, Zenyatta, or your Mikey, but it IS a jockey you might know (Joe Rosario), riding a horse name Quoted in an actual race. It’s pretty amazing! A very different perspective of a race than you get from the sideline. Links to other “race” helmet cams can be seen there, too.

ZENYATTA, YOU BROUGHT GREAT MEMORIES FOR ME. I LIVED ON A 110 ACRE ORCHARD. THE BLOSSOMS WERE SO LOVELY. YOU LOOK WONDERFUL IN THIS PIC. LOVE TO ALL, SHERRY D. WV.
Brenda
It’s definitely not Apple Blossom weather here in Canada, pouring rain, very nasty, but at least it will have cleared up for you in Kentucky. Pink is very cute on you. Our track here in Fort Erie doesn’t open for another two weeks but my grand daughter, Victoria, and I are looking forward to the season and the Canadian Triple Crown as well as the Derby, Preakness and Belmont. Best of luck to the Elite Eight.

That ride was absolutely amazing (feels like you’re actual aboard the horse racing). Thanks for sharing. Judy B.
Dawn Conrad
@JSmith – What a remarkable story of Mucho Macho Man. The connections are celebrating such joy together, each in very special ways.
@Jane in Seattle – Loved the race ride. Could you image what the Kentucky Derby would look like with some 20 horses involved!
@Valarie Franklin – Thank you for the heads up on the Amazon deal.
@Robin – What a lucky little girl to have found her way to you and your daughter. Sounds like it was meant to be.
@Linda – Thank you very much. I am very excited!!
