Happy Wednesday, Everyone!
This is TOO CUTE! Here are my 2 very special friends, Carmen and Michelle, drawing the SWEET SIXTEEN cards. These people will advance to the next level of the ZENYATTA BRONZE CONTEST! I must say, I just love the fact that I’m dancing right over Carmen’s shoulder while all of this is happening! I feel like I’m really participating in all of these activities right along with YOU and my BARN 55 Friends!
As you can see, these girls are really following directions. Carmen has her head turned away from the bucket and Michelle’s eyes are closed tight. Each one drew out 8 cards. What FUN! And, of course, there was NO PEEKING!
Here are the names of the 16 people who will move on to the ELITE EIGHT!

Once again, congratulations to the sixteen who survived the bucket immersion! Special congratulations to Dawn Conrad and Karen Mitchell, the two whose names I recognize from the website!
Karen Mitchell
@Jeanie, thanks for rooting for the Californians. If Zenyatta, a true California girl, can’t be here in person, it would be nice if her bronze sculpture was here in her stead.
Karen Mitchell
@Robbie Pfeufer Kahn – thanks for your special congratulations to Dawn Conrad (a real trooper) and me, and thanks for all your wonderful posts. Please keep them coming.

Hi Zenny and Team Z:
Congrats to the lucky 16! You must all be SO excited. After all, it’s not every day that you get a chance to own a dancing Zenyatta!!!!
I also wanted to tell you, Zenny, as well as Team Z that THE VAULT’s latest article looks at 2005 Derby winner, Giacomo….and there are lots of references to John, Dottie and the Mosses in the article, plus some GREAT photos. If you go off to read about Giacomo, Queen Z, don’t forget to click on one or more ads. THE VAULT is a non-profit raising money for horse rescues and retirement facilities and we’ve raised $129.00 in just 6 weeks. So every click helps!
Currently, readers are nominating horse rescues that they would like THE VAULT to sponsor. We will select one in the USA and one in CANADA for 2011. (Abigail was inspired by Zenny, Dottie, John & Steve to start THE VAULT and it’s TOO MUCH FUN! We have over 4,000 readers!)

Zen, all your posts are great and informational, but I think we all want to know is when you are getting together with Bernardini, or are you passing up being bred again this year? We are waiting on pins and needles, girlfriend!

Congratulations to the “Sweet 16″….

Congratulations Sweet Sixteen. I was hoping I could cheer 1 person on…but I have to…TEXAS…Good luck to all of you, but I hope Queen Zenyatta makes it to TEXAS…go William and Linda.

Dear L.S.: Thank you for clarifying again reasons we may continue to hope Lane`s End Farm holds fast their obligations, not only to ‘Z`s’ best interests, and, in the long term, her owners,` but to the other mares being bred, their foals and their owners. While it may seem tiresome to reiterate the explanations for policies as they stand, please know many are grateful you are willing to give such a meaningful response; and for differentiating RA`s situation from ‘Z`s.’ We would have been especially sorry had a number of fans been successful in persuading LEF to let them visit her only to learn her unsettled foaling was because of some irregularity brought to the farm by those persistently requesting their desires to be entitled as visitors. Better that she have a sequestered confinement, and that her fellow mares and their owners not suffer from her popularity.

@Shari…your posts are a hoot.

Wow this is so wonderful we are meeting fellow Queen lovers from all over the US and hearing such great stories. I hope these posts never stop it is great still being part of your life. I have a friend at work who’s little girls is in love with horses and racing so I immediately gave her the CD of all your races and she is now also a fan. Good luck to all once again and hugs and kisses to our girl!!!!

Congrats to those winning people! After the contest ends, can you please post a video of Zenyatta??? I am sure everyone misses her and haven’t seen her in awhile…we are having withdrawals!! Love you Zenny….any good or exciting news coming?
Roxi Cook
How exciting for the Sweet Sixteen! Good luck! As for visiting Zenyatta during her career as a broodmare: that won’t last forever and eventually she’ll be retired from motherhood as well; that’ll be the perfect time for visiting her, though that may be a decade or more from now. Good thing there are quite a few good photographers who are allowed in & get some good shots; I’m sure we’ll be thrilled with the Z & 2012 Z videos!!

Hurray Dawn Conrad!

Good luck to everyone!!! Wish it was me.

Congratulations to the SWEET SIXTEEN !!!
What a cute picture of Carmen and Isabelle
drawing the names. Please everyone appreciate what we are getting as far as news from Team Z, Team LE, Dottie and Zenny. The more people call LE the less likely they are going to even have any visiting, which may turn out to be a “mob scene” after breeding season. We are just not going to all be able to have easy access to Zenyatta anymore. Those of you who have had the opportunity to visit at
Barn 55 cherish those moments. It is important that Zenyatta have peace quiet and peer company so her breeding will be sucessful and she will be safe. Please reconize that Lane’s End, The Mosses and The Sherriff’s have Zenny’s best in mind.
SHE IS NOW A HORSE WITH HORSE FRIENDS.
LOVE YOU ZENNY !!!!! ENJOY BEING A HORSE AND NO LONGER A WARRIOR !!!!!

Congratulations to the Lucky 16! Glad to see a Colorado person in there. Thinking of Z every day. With the Apple Blossom coming up, can’t help but think of those incredible moments and victories that the great one had at Oaklawn. Love and hugs to Z and Team Zenyatta~ Jo

Congratulations to the Sweet Sixteen & everyone who has entered the contest!!!
@ Anna M – I can’t express how sorry I am for the loss of your foals…heartbreaking…tears…
@ LS – thank you for explaining the risks involved for the mares & foals @ Lane’s End during this period of time. I’m no expert but I have a friend that raises broodmares & I know there are so many precautions to be taken & things can really be tricky concerning their care. I agree w/ you 110% – “THE HORSE COMES FIRST!” Zenyatta’s health, along w/ the other mares & foals is the most important thing. I’m sure when the time is right Lane’s End will be happy to give public tours in moderation.
Take care Queen Z & hope you’re having a wonderful, relaxing day!!
Love you baby girl!! xxxooo

@Sandra Gomez. Please read my post to you at the end of #224.
BTW, congrats to the Sweet Sixteen folks. Can’t wait to see who the WINNER is.
Kathy B.
As I’m from Florida, I’m rooting for Ingrid! (And good luck to the other 15 as well – y’all must be thrilled!).
Karen Mitchell
@Georgia, you mentioned in your post that you gave a CD of Zenyatta’s races to your friend’s little girl. I have googled Zenyatta merchandise, searched the web and can’t find any mentioned of a CD, and would love to have her races on one disk to watch. Can you give me any information as to where or how I might be able to purchase the CD? Thanks in advance.
Anita in CA
@Anna M. Thank you for sharing. I am so sorry for you and you friends’ loss. Pray for a double dose of comfort for you.
Mary Copelin
LS and Kathryn, thank you so much for trying to reinforce the reality of the “no visitors” at Lane’s End and the reasons for it. Hopefully, Zenyatta’s fans will honor the rules and stop the barrage of phone calls which must be very disconcerting to the Lane’s End personnel.
Everyone needs to remember to love the Queen and be glad that Team Zenyatta placed her at a farm that takes her safety and that of their other horses as their utmost responsibility.
Sue Fredrick
Wow its really getting down to the nitty-gritty for you lucky guys isn’t it……congrats to all and good luck to all. I’m leaving tomorrow for Kentucky (aren’t you getting sick of hearing it) but I can’t help it…..I’m excited!!! I shall tell Z, from the road outside the farm, that you are all sending her love and hoping she will get in foal soon.
@L.S. Thank you for stating what I have been thinking for weeks now about seeing Z at Lanes End. Gosh they are all going to hate us if we keep calling there every other day. She needs her privacy and so do all the other mares….I sure would be upset if I had a mare there and all kinds of people were traipsing around. We all just luv her too much I guess. Luv and kisses on Z’ nose.
