Good Morning Everyone,
Yesterday the drawing of the 64 names took place in my stall at Barn 55. Steve and Mario each drew 32 names from the big tubs. Before this, we put ALL of the cards into these tubs and mixed them around and separated stacks of them at a time like you would a deck of cards. Then Steve further stirred and mixed them over and over again by transferring them from one big bucket to another and shaking them around. He poured 1/2 the cards into one tub and the rest remained in the 2nd container. This took quite a bit of time, as we wanted to be sure all of the cards were separated properly.
After this, Steve and Mario went into my stall to get ready to draw the cards. They turned their heads (NO PEEKING) and each drew out 32 postcards. John took the photos!

We will draw the 32 on FRIDAY from this group of 64. Those names will be posted on Saturday morning!
Good LUCK to All!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

PS…So sorry I could not post the names yesterday afternoon as we originally stated. They are just completing the painting of John’s office at the house…and all of the computers were covered up late yesterday and Dottie could not use them. Painting will be done soon! (YEAH…then John can hang up some great photos of ME again!) Thank you for your patience and for being so understanding!
Guido
I am so excited Z that my name is on this list! I cannot believe it and yes the city is right – Ewing, NJ. This is such a wonderful thing you’re doing! Thank you all!
Linda
@Dani-Thank you for the link to the photos! Awesome!
Linda from Vermont
OMG – I’m in the top 64!!!!
Kimberly
I didn’t make the list :( but I wish everyone who did the best of luck. I am just so thankful to have Zenyatta in my life and for all the familiar names I see on this blog every single day. I feel that I have gained so many friends just because we all love the beautiful Zenyatta. Love Zenyatta’s #1 fan in Montana.
Jean Moore
Beautiful Zenyatta, I am so excited that I made the list! This is so much fun and I am so grateful to Mr. & Mrs. Moss for their generosity in making the bronze available to someone lucky, to Dottie and John for their tireless efforts in keeping you close to us and to Mario and Steve for their tub shaking. We are all winners in living the Zen life. Your stall really has become a museum-love it and love you.
tony and sue
Love the pics and article about Zenny’s birthday. She looks stunning. And LIS’s foal is “too cute”. Maybe next year we will see a little Z running around.
Michelle
Yea! I made the first cut, I am so excited. Thanks so much to Team Z for this opportunity. You are all the BEST!!! I noticed there was another Alabama girl on the list – love it. Love You Z forever!
Carrie
Congratulations to all the winners! Mario and Steve you rock! Zenyatta hope you are getting lots of love and hugs.
Good night.
barbara

WOW!!! Thanks for the Zenyatta birthday link http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/throughthelens/archive/2011/04/07/happy-birthday-queen-z.aspx
This is the reason I love Z’s daily diary!!! Thank you Dani for sharing this wonderful link.
It’s funny to see Zenny all dirty, I know she had a lot of fun getting dirty, but it makes me a little sad because I know how hard Mario had worked to keep the Queen clean and shinny all the time. I’m so happy that so many people got to come out and visit you from Barn 55, family and friends what more could you get for a birthday present? Too Cool!!
mj
@MLV, So sorry about Oliver-I know it’s devastating to lose a cherished pet, but I tell myself that I will see them all someday. Dani, thank you for the great link. Congratulations to the final 64, but I have to root for Jean Moore-go Ocala!
Lynn ..... (nearby Hwd Park) California
YEAH!
I already feel like a winner now. Thanks Mario and Steve.! When I saw my name, ooooh, my breath was taken away … just like when I saw Zenny race near the finish-line in California.
I almost screamed for Joy, … but that scares my two cats!! Looking forward to the next drawing. Wow!, and what an amazing prize! …. geeze, I’m trying to breathe here. I’m so thrilled to make the 1st cut.
Again, everyone posing here is so sweet in your posted comments. I Love the video clips you attach.
I had made 3 postcards, to represent March 3rd, my horses birthday.
Thanks Zenny and Z team.

Boo Hoo, I didn’t make the cut, but am cheering on my Redondo Beach neighbor, Pam Smith. We are probably closest to Barn 55 at Hollywood Park, so “Good Luck” Pam. Also, I notice several horses have facebook pages now, but they’ll never have as many friends as you do,Queen Z, because the first one to start a new trend ( and what a great trend) almost always has the biggest following. But you and Dotti have blazed a new trail that is so very exciting. Much tnanks, lovea and hugs to you both.

@Alma–My condolences to you on the passing of your Aussie/Lab mix, Sweetiepie. She had a long and happy life with you, and she will always be with you in your memories. I’m glad that this site brings you something special to look for every day that eases the pain. Ears forward! (phrase coined by another commenter)

@MLV I am so sorry for your loss. Oliver is now with my Titus at Rainbows Brigde. They have a beautiful site that might help a little. It will be hard for a while but just know Oliver is with God. Take care and we are all here to listen

Congrats to the lucky 64. Dottie and Team Z, thanks again for the chance to win a bronze of Queen Z. My home is starting to look like a shrine to Zenny. I’m going to run out of wall space because I have pictures of all my grandchildren, my horses past and present, plus my dogs and cats. And yes, I even have a picture of my special guy, my husband of 55 years!

Sensitive Alert: For Alma: Dear Alma,…my prayers are with you and “Sweetiepie” too! I completely understand. My mother always had at least two dogs that were ‘adopted’ from her 5 girls who at times were called to move on to another segment of their lives. She too, gave them a full life and they would live to be at least 14-16 years of age. Two apricot poodles and two Scottish Terriers. I was always amazed that she, with her busy schedule, would still cook their own ‘dog food’ which of course was more ‘human food!’ (ground turkey, rice, cottage cheese & kibbles). It was always bittersweet when she would call long distance and say “It is time now… for ‘such and such’ won’t even eat Kentucky Fried Chicken!” (our little joke and always the last resort :) I understood, as she took care of my first dog shortly after my son was born 20 years ago,and we moved around the country due to my husband’s position. D’Artagnian was the last little one in her care. She was always heartbroken when she had to say “Good-bye” to her little companions. We have been blessed with our long-haired Chihuahua Shawnee for over 11 years now, and I am grateful for a mother who taught me to love deeply and with detachment as well. She also, wished to be there when the time came, but unfortunatley it is not always possible. May your memories last a lifetime.

Congratulations to all of you who were picked! The ones that weren’t picked are all very gracious. True Zenyatta fans all.

Hi Zenny: I just got home. I couldn’t wait to send you a note. Earlier today, while I was at work, I kept taking little peeks to see if the names had been posted. Then there it was: Post: 222. I looked down the list and there was my name. Oh, my goodness, I couldn’t believe it. I did jot you a quick note, but couldn’t write too much since I was at work. I cannot tell you how excited I am to have made the 1st cut. Many thanks to Mario and Steve!! I know it was just by the luck of the draw, but I thank you both just the same. Wow, how cool is this.
I see there are quite a few of us New Jerseyans that also made it on the Z Team. Yippee!!! Hey we have to show our team spirit.
Let’s go New Jersey!!!! Go New Jersey Go!!!!
Valarie Franklin
Zenny today has been such a rough day and seeing my name on that list nearly made me cry. I worked so hard on my postcards to make each one special for you. And now you’ve made my day!

@MLV, I am so sorry for your loss. Our pets give so much love to us and it is so, so hard when they’re gone.
@Gloria Jeanne, thanks for passing on the Zenyatta birthday link. The photos were just great.
@Barn 55: The life-size card of Zenyatta looks great in her stall.
Robyn Mullhausen
Sorry my name isn’t there, Zenny, but I am proud to say I mailed 6 postcards to a horse!!! LOL But then, you are not just any horse….you are The Queen. ;)
J Smith
64 ZENYATTA MADNESS CONTESTANTS. I hope you realize the final winner is going to have to document every second of the spot selection, readying the spot, the package arriving, unpacking, jubilation, and the ceremonial placing of The Queen in Bronze on the spot you have chosen. It’s never too early to start interviewing friends and family to see who has the best video camera, steady hand, and ability to post online. Don’t worry, there will only be 73,000 people looking at it!
Kim S
Congratulations to all!!! I didn’t get in either but recognize several names, Dawn Conrad and Amanda Gilliland to name a few. Good Luck to everyone.
Zenny, finally had to say I will never be able to forget your birthday since God decided He needed my Dad more than we did, on April 1st. I’m glad it was on your birthday so while I’ll think of him and the wonderful place he is now, I’ll think of wonderful you at the same time. We were a sports oriented family growing up. Of course, I leaned more towards horseracing. :) Always loved the ponies and remember Secretariat in his day. When my first marriage was having troubles, my Dad took me to Tampa Bay Downs for the first time. That was back, in oh, 1985-1986’ish. And we went every weekend, Dec-May for a couple of years. Then as much as we could for several years afterward. I will remember those days with great fondness now that my Dad is gone, everytime I watch TVG, read your diary and Bloodhorse daily. My Dad was 70 and in poor health but when talking about Secretariat, he would always get a tear in his eye about the “big-hearted”, 31 length Belmont winner. So I know the first sports figure he looked for, after finding his Dad, was Secretariat. Thanks for being here for all of us Zenyatta, you are special in ways that you will never know.
Lotsa love to all.
DJ
Dear Elyse M,
Thank you for sharing your joy! I am still waiting…but was thinking that whenever I touch her little extended leg I will be reminded of all of the hearts extended in her name.

@J Smith: Lol!

Congrats to the Group of 64. Wish my name had been picked, I had the perfect spot set aside for the Zenyatta bronze! :)
