Good Morning,
It’s contest time! Dottie is off to Hollywood Park this morning for the drawing of the “64 contestants”. Good luck everyone!
I wanted to share with you a pencil drawing that Sherrill Brooke did of ME! It is one that MY JOHN really loves. He has it hanging in his office at the house right by his desk. This way, I am right there with him each day!
We will post the 64 names on the web-site later today. My Barn 55 friends are going to help us by drawing the cards out of the containers. They will do a very careful job! I told them NO PEEKING! This is TOO CUTE!
With love,
Hugs to All~

Ms. Brooke is very gifted. A lovely portrait of Zenny. My Zenyatta bronze arrived today and it is incredibly beautiful!! Whoever wins #19 is going to be one lucky person. It is EXACTLY like her, majestic and equisitely made. Her pose is so iconic and captures her perfectly. Whoever gets one will NOT be disappointed. The bronze is mounted on stained wood. There is a brass plaque with her name engraved and mounted on the wood. I can’t stop looking at it. Nina Kaiser is one incredibly talented artist. Good luck to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Queen Z …hope you are enjoying beautiful weather in the blue grass state.I bet all the girls are soaking up the sunshine. Sounds like you will be seeing Bernardini soon. I bet there are many new foals at Lane’s End. How is Life is Sweet and her new foal doing? Dottie and Barn 55 have a big task ahead of them, picking just one winner!

@Joyce. I live in Cypress. Have you ever been to Sam Houston Race Park :) Funny that Zenyatta brought us together on her site..

@Everybody. If you go to Mr. Brooke’s website (and you should) make sure to use the “Zoom in” to see the detail of the paintings, it will take your breathe away, it is so stunning! I wish he would reproduce some of these works for us fans.

Hello Zenyatta: Remember when Trevor Denman called you “poetry in motion” during one of your races? Now we can see you as “art waiting to be painted.” Yes, Great Mare, you are all things to all people. G’night. xoxoxoxo

@Especially Horses–I wish Mr. Brooke would too!

I went to Mr. Brooke’s website. The painting of Zenyatta is absolutely beautiful. The background is also beautiful. I wonder if that is an actual location or just a beautiful backdrop.

I suppose he may not have permission to reproduce since these are commissioned works. On a different note, wouldn’t it be fun to know how much of an increase in “hits” the Sites that are mentioned on this blog get after they are posted on this diary? I am sure the number of visitors to Mr. Brooke’s site has increased substantially today. The Power of Z.

Thanks for sharing with us/Dottie/Z. Cannot wait for the drawing, your birthday celebration was priceless. I loved the pic where you had just eaten the carrots.
This picture of Zenyatta depicts the pose that many of you have appreciated in the bronze that you are participating in the drawing for. What a beautiful stride! Thanks so much for sharing you $$ in donating to Old Friends Retirement Farm for our precious ex-racehorses. Hillside Farm is a much needed addition to their cause. I kno…w that Zenyatta appreciates all that we can do to help the horses to get the love and attention that they deserve. Thanks so much for those that have participated in honor of Z’s birthday but we need to continue our effort. It only takes $1 from all of Z’s fans to help these horses have a good home. As of today, Z has 73,946 FB fans. If all of us sent only $1-imagine the help we could give these horses in Z’s name. What a great gift. Safety and security. Click on like if you are sending a donation, then go to Old Friends website-oldfriendsequine.org and help them make a difference. Thanks so much! (view the picture on Z’s FB page).

Beautiful drawing. Good luck to all in the crawing. Are you going to be rebred to Bernadini anytime soon??? I thought it was going to be this week. Hope you are well and healthy. How are your pasture mates?? We have not heard about them in a long time.

Beautiful!! Look at those white socks on her back legs! That is where her power came from! The most gifted horse, beside Afleet Alex, I have ever had the pleasure in witnessing. She is BEAST!

Don’t think Mr Brooke does prints. His paintings/
Drawings cost mid to upper 5 figures. Wish he did though.
He is such an expert and so talented.
Kathy
Sweet dreams. I am going to bed, I’ll check again Thursday morning.

Deanna, I donated to Old Friends a week ago $50.00 through my husband’s PayPal acct. I have made several donations and will continue to do so. It is a wonderful charity for retired horses and they are so well loved and cared for.

Dearest, Zenyatta. What an exciting day for us and everyone at Barn 55. It is so great knowing they are all joining in on the fun of picking the winning card. Your pencil sketch by Mr. Brooke’s is absolutely perfect. I have missed seeing all those glorious dapples, but there they are shining even in black and white. How wonderful for John to have this special portrait of you hanging in his office. The final painting was absolutely beautiful. Thank you, Zenny, for introducing us to Mr. Brooke’s work. His art is breathtaking. I have two large coffee table books, one with Fred Stone’s equine art and the other with Richard Stone Reeves, they are both remarkable. Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@DJ – I read your story and yes, it was very tragic and sad, but at the end you wrote some words that will stay with me forever, “that God has taught you that sometimes our hearts do break in order to expand.” The prayers you post and words such as these are truly uplifting.
@Kathryn Cogswell – Your post was so moving. I am not surprised that a difficult situation for some was handled by all in a loving and supportive way.
@Trina Nagile – Great idea.
@Deana Dameron – Keep up the encouragement, I hope we make it!
@Paula Higgins – Thank you for the lovely description of the bronze. I can certainly understand why you can’t take your eyes off it.
@Kari Bussell – Wonderful post.
@Shari Voltz – Hope you week is going great!!
