Happy Tuesday Everyone!
I am still having fun thinking about my BARN 55 visitors last weekend. The weather has been very nice and I’ve been able to spend lots of quality time outside with all of my paddock buddies.
I also want to wish my dear friend, STEVE HASKIN, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! He is a fellow Aries and celebrated his special day yesterday! Cheers to you, STEVE! May you have a fabulous, healthy and happy year!
The photo above is TOO CUTE! Tim is holding MY CAKE! Earlier, I played with a cupcake for a moment to have a taste of frosting, but my REAL BIG CAKE was one made up of all of my favorite foods. Claudia Rubio helped put it together for me. She cut up big pieces of pears, apples and bananas and layered them on whole carrots with the green portion decorating the outside of the box. Then shredded carrots were shaped in a BIG Z on top! It was rather heavy to carry…so Tim helped out. It was absolutely delicious!
There was so much ‘Z CAKE’ that all of my barn friends were able to have a GENEROUS portion and help celebrate with ME. WE all agreed that it was not only a clever type of cake to create for ME…but extremely tasty too!
March Madness ended last night with the Championship Game. Kentucky made it to the Final Four and in itself that is a great accomplishment. Butler and UCONN played last night for the Championship with UCONN winning! Congratulations to them…and all of the teams who worked so hard during this tournament!
Now, our TOURNAMENT begins tomorrow. It is getting exciting! BRONZE #19 is really curious to see who her new owner will be! GOOD LUCK, Everyone!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Great cake = Happy Horse! Happy Horse = Happy Little Bit Ranch devotees and we all are so glad that you enjoyed all the celebrations.

THANK YOU to everyone for the kind words! My heart fell when I found my postcard in my mailbox. But everyone here has lifted my spirits! THANK YOU! The card was never really about the contest, so I will resend it. It can join the thousands of other cards that will be read at a later date. Just imagine, each card represents Love-the LOVE for Zenyatta & an appreciation to everyone involved with sharing her with us. Good Luck to everyone here in the drawing!!!!! I recognize so many names here from my reading the diary every day. I read comments & reread them (and enjoy the links so many provide). My hope is that someone who actively participates in this group is the contest winner. Thanks to All again!!!!!
Samantha,Gabby,Allie,
When are you being bred again, Z?

Good Morning,
@William, Have you worked with horses before or small animals? I was in a bad place many years ago and decided to work with horses which I love more than anything in life. That saved me…just a thought.
@Ingrid in MA, I live in MA also, Millis. When we are allowed to visit with Z, want to go?
Astrid
@DJ – I am so sorry Becket’s life was cut short so cruelly. I hope Zenyatta’s fairytale story soothes the pain somewhat. Today, I want to imagine Shasta and Becket running free, like the wind, eyes bright, tails high… At least they knew love!
Zenny, hope you have great day! ♥

Elena Erdman- Caring thoughts are with you in your loss of Suzzie. The love and sweetness from our darling critters is what makes us cherish them so much while they’re here and mourn them so much when they’re gone. Hold your kittie close to your heart and she will be there forever, even through the tears.

Wonderful photo of Z and her cake. I’m getting quite a library of Zenyatta photos on my i-Phone. Thank you!!!!

Good morning Zenyatta from East Liverpool. I hope it is sunny in Kentucky because it is cloudy here. I loved the picture of you eating your cake. Claudia made you avery healthy and yummy cake :) Tell Steve have a very Happy Birthday :) You are such a sweet girl I hope you keep enjoying your treats. I want to wish everyone good luck in the contest. My students are just excited to read the names of the people picked. They are so funny. Just when I think that they have forgotten about it they start asking me questions again. Little ones are amazing.
Well sweet girl I must get back to work. Hugs and many Kisses from Shari and Homeroom 215 XXXOOO
@Dawn that would be a perfect day. Meeting for tea and seeing Zenyatta :)
@William keep posting we are all here for you. I believe Zenyatta is spiritual and led you to write on her site for a reason. We care and we will listen :) God Bless you

I’m a paralegal in a small town in North Carolina and have seen the cruelty of people against animals (shooting horses for the fun of it or dragging them to death to get even with an ex-boyfriend). I’ve also lost to illness 3 beloved pets in less than a year. AND then Rachel and Zenyatta retire and I don’t get to see them race anymore. It’s been a depressing time for me but then I do get to keep track of Zenyatta on this website and I enjoy reading about her and everybody’s comments. So I see hope in the world that there are loving people out there who cherish animals like I do. I also got the nerve to adopt a little and adorable doggie from the pond who was desperate for a home and love and I’m just the person to give it to him. I’m blessed to have him in my life. Love you Zen….

Zenny you are loved by so many people. Glad you & your paddock buddies enjoyed your cake. Thank you again for sharing with us all. Can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures Ann took. Can’t wait to see what you’re going to share with us in your next post.

Good Morning, How inspiring all the love and caring that comes out in these posts and comments. God bless you all. With love, Arlene.

Oh, my! I just reread Steve’s blog “Zenyatta Stirred The Emotions”….
If ever there was ANY doubt why we are hear this piece pretty much says it all.

I’m sure I wont make any friends by saying this- but I made time to go to the store and the post office and mailed my card by the deadline. I am an office manager for 3 large offices, my mom is in the hospital. I don’t have a lot of spare time or money but I made this a priority – this contest is very important to me and I believe the rules should be followed. Sorry if this upsets anyone.

Mike Smith is in this calendar of Barbara Livingston photos of jockeys as you haven’t seen them before, and you get a free picture of Zenny, too: http://www.drf.com/blogs/its-beefcake-time

The story of Shasta and Beckett is heartbreaking and the way Beckett had to leave this world…I cannot say, as I am in Zenyatta Beautiful World. This story brings tears to my eyes.

@DJ I just read your post and it just made me cry. I am sorry you had to go through that. I am glad Zenyatta is helping you to heal. I have three furbabies. They each get birthday cakes, we sing to them and treat them as if they were our children. Sometimes this world is so cruel. That is why I am so thankful for this site. I hope all works out for your special day with your husband and father. God bless

@DJ I am reading from the bottom up today and just came to your post. I am so sorry to hear what happened…The last horse I ever owned was killed in a barn fire. During a storm a high voltage wire came down and hit the barn, and the firefighters couldn’t do anything till the power company shut off the electricity. My dear horse, I just pray she died of smoke inhalation. But I know she was terrified and wondering why her people didn’t come. I was not there, but I still have nightmares about it. Zenny’s life and the kind people on this list help heal a lot of sorrows.

I don’t say her name anymore, because it hurts, but you know, I will say it here. Her name was Brandy, 15hh quarter/thoroughbred cross, bay, only 5 years old. We called her Brandy Bananas because she loved bananas like another horse we all love.

Hey, gang, some of these last few posts have really done me in. I come here to feel uplifted and to offer support, not to read details about how animals have been tortured and made to suffer. These images stay in my mind and cause me great anguish for days and days, if not longer.
Am I alone in wishing posters here could not bring these horrors to unsuspecting readers? Yes, sadly we all know about animal cruely, some of which happens in the TB racing world, but do we have to hear about it on Zenyatta’s site? If I’m in the minority with this preference, naturally I’ll be willing to stop reading all posts in order not to be blindsided by the sadness and emotional pain. Thanks for considering this request.

Dear Jane in Seattle; I am so sorry your horse and you endured such a tragedy. Rest assured Brandy is probably looking over your shoulder or standing next to you. There are no answers for such sad things in life. However saying her name here shows this site is starting to do for you what it did for me. My horse suffered a tragedy of another kind. He was stricken with EMND (equine disease similar to human Lou Gherig’s disease). It was a freak situation because there was no reason for it. I talked with a vet that was on staff at Cornell University when it was being researched. It made no sense why he got this disease. He had the best of care possible and I can say this with absolutely no hesitation and complete certainty. Seeing how you love your Brandy so much as I love my horse who is not here physically anymore I have to tell you that you will be able to say her name again and say it with pride or whimsy as you did about the bananas. Thank you for loving one of God’s creatures so much and telling your story, you truly get what life is about.

Love sometimes brings pain (as Mrs. Jackson said of her beloved Barbaro)…but when you have an adorable creature like Zenyatta who has brought so much happiness and smiles to the faces of so many people and still does it every day, well I’m more than willing to listen to those of us who have felt pain because we have loved too much.

Dear Ida Lea; BRAVO ! ON YOUR NEW ADOPTION. What is your new puppies name?

@Karey R: I understand 100%. It breaks my heart and I try not to read them, but sometimes I do.

Hi Queen Zenny!
I’ve been meaning to write this ~ I have a cat named Hayley, but sometimes I’ve almost called her Zenny! lol That’s how often you’re on my mind. TOO FUNNY!!
HUGS & KISSES XOXO

Dear Karey R; your request to consider not posting sad stories is relevant just as every admirer of Zenyatta and animal lover on this site. I can only speak for myself so I’ll explain why I posted my sad story although not as tragic as some others. You had mentioned you come to this site to be uplifted. Those of us who have told our stories of sadness as this website continues to thrive come here for the same reason. Zenyatta is certainly at the base of our reason for being here. That is why I say she was born under a special star from a higher place. Sharing our thoughts about Zenyatta brings us to relate to other circumastances. This site, Z’s site, uplifts us just as it uplifts youd but in an additional way. Z has this way and look about her that brought us together, otherwise complete strangers, and given us some of our happinesss, courage and fun back in our lives.
livey
@Karey R – you are not alone…
I pretty much pick and chose what I read on here. I know many on here find strength talking about various things (surgeries, illnesses, deaths, cruelty to animals, sick animals, etc.). I get it. But for me personally I don’t read them. I’m in a profession that is surrounded by sadness and so when I come on here I’m looking for a reprieve. And often times I just read the diary post. That is what I would recommend. I know for some on here time doesn’t stand still.. But wanted to acknowledge others out there like me that draw something different from Z and this site. And this is not to say anything should change..not what I’m implying, just saying this site is not one dimensional – it has many meanings for many people.

@Ivey: Perfectly said for all Queen Zenyatta lovers and our differences.

Dearest Sweet “Z” and all her friends,
My sincerest apology to those I may have saddened or upset by the sharing of my horse-story. It was truly not my intent to be insensitive. I know life can be messy, but much more than that, very beautiful! Thank you so much to those of you who reached out with your loving words. I felt the healing of your prayerful intercession rather than ‘problem-solving.’ To those who had similar unfortunate events…may we be united again with our furry friends “Across the Rainbow Bridge.” Blessings and Hugs to All.
