Happy Tuesday Everyone!
I am still having fun thinking about my BARN 55 visitors last weekend. The weather has been very nice and I’ve been able to spend lots of quality time outside with all of my paddock buddies.
I also want to wish my dear friend, STEVE HASKIN, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! He is a fellow Aries and celebrated his special day yesterday! Cheers to you, STEVE! May you have a fabulous, healthy and happy year!
The photo above is TOO CUTE! Tim is holding MY CAKE! Earlier, I played with a cupcake for a moment to have a taste of frosting, but my REAL BIG CAKE was one made up of all of my favorite foods. Claudia Rubio helped put it together for me. She cut up big pieces of pears, apples and bananas and layered them on whole carrots with the green portion decorating the outside of the box. Then shredded carrots were shaped in a BIG Z on top! It was rather heavy to carry…so Tim helped out. It was absolutely delicious!
There was so much ‘Z CAKE’ that all of my barn friends were able to have a GENEROUS portion and help celebrate with ME. WE all agreed that it was not only a clever type of cake to create for ME…but extremely tasty too!
March Madness ended last night with the Championship Game. Kentucky made it to the Final Four and in itself that is a great accomplishment. Butler and UCONN played last night for the Championship with UCONN winning! Congratulations to them…and all of the teams who worked so hard during this tournament!
Now, our TOURNAMENT begins tomorrow. It is getting exciting! BRONZE #19 is really curious to see who her new owner will be! GOOD LUCK, Everyone!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Your too cute, Z…what a yummy cake!!Glad to see your blaze is on the right side!! After that “opposite” photo, I had to go look at all my pics of you to make sure I wasn’t going nuts!!! Happy Birthday, Steve Haskins, keep those great articles coming.
@linda..I would send your card to the barn anyway, what lovely words to say about her.

What a terrific cake for a terrific mare! I love your diary and hearing about life on the farm. I also appreciate that you have fully embraced Kentucky its favorite sports. That’s very magnanimous of you. So many athletes have blinders on and can’t see and appreciate the accomplishments of others in different sports. You are quite the role model.

Beautiful Zenyatta – I am so glad that your family could join you for your birthday. I’m an Aries too and will be 62 on the 7th. I have never been on a horse or even petted one. When I was a little girl, I would cut branches off of trees, strip them of their leaves and rig up a halter with string. Then I would tie off a corral with more string around the apple trees in my yard. I would gallop and whinny all over the neighborhood! It was so much fun. Of course those were the days when children had imaginations! I have always loved horses and was a big fan of “My Friend Flicka”, “Fury” and of course Trigger. What majestic, beautiful creatures you are. One of the gals that I work with has a horse named “Splash” and she has invited me to come to the barn to meet him. I am so excited and you can bet that I will finally get up close to a horse and pet him. May God always keep you and your wonderful care givers in HIS loving hands.

@LINDA: I am so, so sorry that your postcard was returned as it’s clear how much thought and effort went into that paragraph. If it helps any, Linda, you DID accomplish your goal because by sharing your lovely words, Zenyatta and her family now know how much they mean to you.
@SHARONCALL: Following KathrynCogswell’s beautiful story, yours also touched me deeply. Your vivid description allowed me to envision your Jess and to actually feel the love between you. You and Kathryn are both blessed to have had that in your lives.
@WILLIAM: I hope you stay here and post often.
Hello Zenyatta: I think I’m done for this evening!!! Smile! Smile! G’night!xoxoxoxo

I too want to applaud VOZ (voice of Zenyatta) because the incredible Dottie must know what it’s like to be CRAZY about a horse and how much Zenyatta has meant to the world. Thanks, Dottie and all of Team, CA and KY

Zenyatta, I hope you shared your special birthday cake and goodies with your barn pals (horsey girlfriends). I know they wanted to help you chomp on some of those goodies. I know you and yours wouldn’t have it any other way. I expect Ann made sure there was plenty for all your horsey friends..

Hi Queen Zenyatta,
Your “cake” looked yummy and healthy also. I eat the sugar cake and am thinking about using your cake recipe.
I am glad you did not get the storms that went through. I was thinking about that as I watched the weather maps.
Have a great week dear Queen and will look for your next posting. I hope your transcriber Dotti has help reading all the things we send you..lol and all those post cards …You will need new glasses lol.
Kathryn Cogswell
Dear Linda: This may be way off base, but since your postcard has a postmark pre-dating the cut-off, perhaps re-sending it in a USPS Priority [clear] envelope, as is, showing the postmark, with the correct address writ LARGE, and a description of the circumstances, may place it back in contention. Dottie DID re-set the beginning of the competition, moving it a bit later to accommodate their trip to Kentucky .. . it may be a gamble, but it might be OK, too. ~ Also, Sharon Call: Hi. That searching of you, boots to crown, is so true. They sort of act as if they know you`re not exactly theirs — but you MIGHT be — and so0Oo .. . oh, well . .. they check you out, giving you the benefit of the doubt, all over again, and, when you`re not quite all horse, there`s that hug that says, ‘you do your best; I know.’ Sweet Jess — side-slipping under a child, to ‘catch her up.’ What a picture.

Hi Z….. what a great cake, makes me hungry, I like your kind of food.
I have not written for a while, my kitty Suzzie, a rag doll cat, died a couple of weeks ago and I really miss her. She was gorgeous and sweet, so I thought I would spoil her sister Annie, pollo loco, anyone? I am feeling better and will keep in contact with you more often.
I love you and going on your site just lifted my spirits up again, as usal.

So glad that you had fun when your friends came to celebrate with you-gives you nice memories to cherish! Hope you are doing well and it appears that you are enjoying the Kentucky weather. You take care sweetie-my Love & Blessings to you!

Dearest, Zenyatta. Hope you had a wonderful day beautiful girl! Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@Christine in Michigan – Weren’t those days of playing horse just the best. The 1st thru 3rd grades, I went to a small country school and every recess we were out the door and running like the wind; pretending to be just like the horses you mentioned. It still brings a smile.
@William – So sorry for the spelling error. My mind can often out race my fingers.
@Linda – I am so sorry that your card came back. Thank you for sharing the wonderful words you wrote for Zenny.
@Sharon Call – Your Jess sounds so beautiful, in looks and spirit. To this day, I can close my eyes and remember every detail of my Cinder. The feel, the smell, the warmth, those soft brown eyes, the velvet nose, the glistening red coat, the shoulder I cried on when I was sad, the strong back that in one moment provided the perfect cushion for my head while I lay in the pasture reading and in the next carried me on many magical adventures. A young girls dream. We hold those dear memories of our horses close, for they entered our hearts with love and they remain there forever more.
@DJ – I loved your postcard, the words were “too cute” and brought such a warm feeling. I hope you know what a gift you are to me, not because you asked that your card go back, but because of all of the amazing things you write and share with all of us. You are truly a blessing.

Hi Zenyatta. Wow, your cake looks so delicious – those pears, bananas and carrots – yummy!!! Your look so beautiful and not a day older. We are so happy to hear that spring has sprung in Kentucky. It has been a long, long winter for you all. So glad you are able to enjoy glorious sun time with your BBFs. Love you so – looking forward to more birthday pics. Eat well, stay precious, and have lots and lots of fun, Angel in Disguise. Love you always.

@Linda – thanks for sharing your Z sentiments on the postcard. I also went all over looking for the perfect postcard but my sentiments didn’t come out as nice as yours nevertheless I had great fun being part of the contest and hope Dottie/Ann maybe use some of the postcard sentiments for a book one day?
Trina Nagele
@Linda—Your paragraph for Zenny was beautifully written and touching—I’m sorry your card didn’t get delivered after all the thought and effort you put into it. I agree with others that you should resend it to Barn 55. Maybe Kathryn’s idea can do the trick. Ears forward!
@Steve Haskin—Happy Birthday!
Anne
