Happy Tuesday Everyone!
I am still having fun thinking about my BARN 55 visitors last weekend. The weather has been very nice and I’ve been able to spend lots of quality time outside with all of my paddock buddies.
I also want to wish my dear friend, STEVE HASKIN, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! He is a fellow Aries and celebrated his special day yesterday! Cheers to you, STEVE! May you have a fabulous, healthy and happy year!
The photo above is TOO CUTE! Tim is holding MY CAKE! Earlier, I played with a cupcake for a moment to have a taste of frosting, but my REAL BIG CAKE was one made up of all of my favorite foods. Claudia Rubio helped put it together for me. She cut up big pieces of pears, apples and bananas and layered them on whole carrots with the green portion decorating the outside of the box. Then shredded carrots were shaped in a BIG Z on top! It was rather heavy to carry…so Tim helped out. It was absolutely delicious!
There was so much ‘Z CAKE’ that all of my barn friends were able to have a GENEROUS portion and help celebrate with ME. WE all agreed that it was not only a clever type of cake to create for ME…but extremely tasty too!
March Madness ended last night with the Championship Game. Kentucky made it to the Final Four and in itself that is a great accomplishment. Butler and UCONN played last night for the Championship with UCONN winning! Congratulations to them…and all of the teams who worked so hard during this tournament!
Now, our TOURNAMENT begins tomorrow. It is getting exciting! BRONZE #19 is really curious to see who her new owner will be! GOOD LUCK, Everyone!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

The guys in your barn at Lane’s End seem to be really good sports. I hope they realize how lucky they are to be taking care of Zenyatta. And yes, I know it is more than luck. Top farms hire the top people! We are all glad you are in such a wonderful and safe place.

You sure look like you enjoyed yoyr Birthday, lots of goodies. I would like to know your Derby pick too. I’m all Dialed In to the Derby, but if Mr. Commons goes and does well in the Santa Anita Derby, I’ll have to pull for him too. Love Ya Big Z

Hi Zennie,
I just came home to find my postcard which I sent to you, mailed back to me in my mailbox. I cried. Not because I had a chance at winning. I went to 3 different stores to find a postcard, had to get stamps, had to get another postcard to condense what I had originally written & I made a special trip to the post office… I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate your family for sharing you with us. So if you don’t mind I will type what was on the postcard…It was not great because words cannot do justice how I feel about you…
It was her on track accomplishments & uniqueness that caught my eye, but her off track personality captured my heart. I could not believe a race horse so fit could ever stand so patiently for her many visitors. This powerful horse, so gentle, loving, careful & curious-interacting with each person. Her owners & trainer generously shared her with the world. In doing this, she became much more than a great race horse to so many people.

Zenyatta, What a lucky horse you are. I’m sure you know there are many horses out there who are not as fortunate as you to have the wonderful owners and place to reside.
Any chance your fans might be able to see you this summer? We need to make vacation plans ahead of time is why I ask. Hugs and Prayers

Hi Zeny! Hope you and everyone in the farm are all safe. The news said winds were about 120 miles an hour in Kentucky plus heavy rain. Hope your area and the other farms were not hit hard. Hugs, Marilu

@Kathryn Cogswell. I had a mare that would do that every single time I went to the barn. I would walk in her stall, she would smell me starting with my feet and winding up with her face resting on my chest, just as you described. Your description brought back that time to me. My mare, Jess, was a big girl, 17 hh, strawberry roan with flax mane and tail sort of like strawberry ice cream with whipped cream on top. She was a saddlebred/walking horse cross and was just the sweetest horse you could ever imagine. With an experienced rider, she would fling that head up and step out in high fashion. With one of my little step kids on her back, she would carefully walk forward, always alert to where that child was in the saddle and if the little one would slip a little to one side or the other, Jess would carefully side step right back under that child. Jess’s heart was as big as her big pink body. I’m so glad she was in my life and I still miss her terribly. Sharing in Z’s life helps me remember my beloved Jess.

Hugs to you, Zenny…so glad your special day was filled with lots of friends, new and old. There is no end to the good influence you have on people, near and far. I’m convinced that every time I’m involved in an endeavor that concerns you that it lowers blood pressure, makes my heart feel full of hope and joy, and the world seems a more hospitable place. That’s a very good thing. Hugs! Your friend, Ann Maree

Beautiful Zenyatta, Oh, that precious face of yours! No matter how many photos I see of you, each new one always gives me goose bumps. And what an ingenious idea for your cake, bet your barn friends are happy that they know you at treat time. I know I would. So happy for you that you spent some quality time with your family and shared even those private moments with us. We are so lucky to know you.

Dear Zenyatta,
So glad you had such a happy birthday with so many goodies and wonderful friends–2-legged and 4-legged. You could be getting an award in the Creative Birthday Cake Department! Thanks to Ann for the picture, Claudia for the idea and Tim for the ‘heavy lifting’. Had to go to a funeral yesterday but the mood was a little lighter when we found that the luncheon was at Giacomo’s. Love and hugs, Suzanne G
@Deana Dameron–great idea about donations in Zenyatta’s name for Old Friends. I did that and hope others will too.
@Linda–sorry about the return of your postcard but at least you were able to express your thoughts here and we were able to share them.
Sue Noel
