Hello Everyone,
It is cool and a bit overcast here this Saturday morning at Hollywood Park. I am in the midst of such a great deal of fun!
Earlier in the week, Isabelle got to ride me for her birthday present from John.
Then Michelle, my masseuse, wanted to get a chance to ride me around the walking ring at the barn. Michelle is an extremely experienced horse woman. She has been riding for 25 years…and was the regular exercise rider for horses like Starrer and Hollywood Story whom John trained. She absolutely had a BLAST! Too cute!
The visitors are still coming in groves. John said the barn crew will have to go on ‘mini-diets’ after I leave because so many people have been so generous about bringing LOTS of TREATS for my friends at the barn: cookies, candy, cakes (carrot, of course) and danish. They LOVE IT ALL…and wanted me to THANK YOU personally!
Also, I am hearing LOTS of people are reading the Diary each day. This is great news. Last night, Margaret, Tom Halpenny’s wife, (Tom is my wonderful blacksmith)…said they heard from a friend in Australia who was able to locate them via reading my Diary. Now this is GREAT NEWS!
Tomorrow is my HOLLYWOOD PARK FAN APPRECIATION DAY! It is getting exciting. Then on Monday, I will be honored at KEENELAND. I am really getting excited.
Dottie was talking with my new Lane’s End friends about things I will be doing when I get there. As I have mentioned before, David, Dottie’s son, lives in Lexington and will be there with me. I hear Lane’s End is getting MY NEW BARN organized…and they will have SEVERAL NEW GIRLFRIENDS for me to meet upon my arrival. They are also having Sarah, David’s assistant, work with Dottie on all of my updates. So, we will able to keep ALL of YOU posted on what I am doing! Sounds exciting!
YEAH…time to go get a bit of exercise…and then meet more FANS! WOW…I just took a peek outside the barn. There are LOTS of PEOPLE OUTSIDE AGAIN TO SEE ME. LOTS!!!!! I’ll smile…PRETTY… in all the photos!
With love,
Hugs~

I wish i could have been one of your fans to meet you in person! You are such a special girl, I know that you have had the best care ever and are going to a good place, I am praying for you cause you are important to me and God understands and he cares. I am concerned about the weather. I have horses and we alway have to watch for colic when there is weather change and other changes. I would just like to say that the Mosses and the Sherriff’s are top notch for how they brought you along and how they have loved you . Please enjoy this stage of your life. You have re awakened a part of me that had almost died that part that says just keep going you will make it. Thank you Darling horse for all you have done for all of our hearts!

Hi beautiful, I just wanted to let you know that I bought your home movies from a seller named “blahblahkitty” on EBAY. They came last night and I have cried through all of them. They far exceeded my expectations! Beautiful footage of you in the paddock, walking ring, actual race, getting a bath(!). They are just wonderful and the music is awesome! You really need to see them if you haven’t. They did a great job. I used to worry about utube going down but now it doesn’t matter, if it does I just put in my dvds:) Have a fun day today with all your fans including me crying and bidding you farewell. My husband said he has never seen anyone cry for 30 straight days! He says I must stop now and enjoy the next phase of your wonderful life…the little one…I like AP Indy too and I love the thought of you and Eskendereya! Don’t forget your blankets..it’s freezing in KY. I love you with all my heart Zenyatta, thank you for saving my life and for the thrill of a lifetime!:)I will continue to pray for your health and safety and happiness always.

Dottie THANK YOU from all of us that love this mare so deeply for ensuring that we will continue to get updates on her new life. Everyone surrounding Team Z through the years have been so generous about sharing the great gift that is Zenyatta with the world. It seems like this once-in-a-lifetime horse brings out the very best in all of us.

Sweet Zenyatta ~ I’m not one of your CA fans, in fact I’m all the way cross-country in CT, but I couldn’t love you more if you were in my own back yard! I am so proud of you, and now I wish you a smooth, happy transition into your new life in KY. I feel so very sorry for all your caregivers ~ “parting is such sweet sorrow.” When the time comes I think you will be an absolutely awesome mama ~ you’ve been so gracious and gentle with all the human visitors you’ve had, and it will be even more wondrous when it’s your own sweet baby! With love, respect and much appreciation to you and your peeps,

Have a great day today Zenyatta and Team Z. I couldn’t come today at the last minute and it’s stinging a bit, but I’m planning a trip to come see you at Lane’s End. I was fortunate enough to be there when you won your 17th and 19th. Was standing right behind John on your 19th. I’ve never seen anyone look more proud that John and Mario and Mike that day. I want to thank you and your people from the bottom of my heart for sharing so much with us. Wonderful times Zenyatta. Love you all. Safe trip. xoxo

I am so thankful you are safe and sound. But part my heart weeps that this is all over now. I’ll miss the thrill you put back in racing, and the fire you lit my heart with. I hope they allow your fans to see you at Lane’s End in the future, you are everything to so many. A legend for all time. We love you, your loyal fans forever.

Enjoy your day, Zenyatta, and give ’em what they came for (as if I had to tell you!). And when you get to Kentucky, better have TWO blankets on because it is supposed to be COLD. You’re a California girl so you might not like it much at first, but you’ll adapt — with a little help from your many, many friends!
Joani Jiannine
Don’t forget your warm winter blanket tomorrow, KY is COLD! Will be watching you today for sure. Hope they consider making a movie of you in the very near future!!! One that is about 8, 16, or 24 hours long so they can incorporate all Johns great videos of you besides all your races! And you can be the star in person! LOL! Thanks to Dottie for all these great daily postings because you have become ‘a Zenyatta way of life’ to so many of us! I do go to Lexington about twice a year and so will be sure to visit when I go. Looking forward to that. Love you lots sweetheart, and I feel so much the inner pain of your devoted ‘keepers and companions’ because you will be leaving a very large hole in their everyday lives. My heart goes out to them. There will just never be another you!

Queen Z and team memebers: Safe trip and goof luck in the future. Here’s one of my favorite Odes I’m passing on to all.
What was once the radiance which was once so bright,
be now forever taken from our sight;
tho nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass,or glory of the flowers, we will grieve not; but rather find strength in what remains behind.
You have given us such wonderful and timeless memories and we are all the better for it!
You live in our hearts.
You are so beloved.
What a beautiful ride you have given to all your team and us, as a nation.
Above all, I’m so grateful that your team is doing everything right for you. Sending
people you know intimately with you to make sure that the transition goes as comfortably for you as possible. They have spared no expense and you have been worth every $$.
Love you Z

Dear Queen Z,by the time you “read” this message you will have been honored by the throngs at Hollywood Park. All of us adore you and always will. Bless you as you transition into new activities and interests.
Please tell Dottie that she has done an unbelieveable job helping you communicate with your millions of fans. Perhaps you could recommend her to be the public voice of thoroughbred racing. You have completely changed the public’s perception, and Dottie could really change the public face of all racing if given the opportunity. She gets it!!!
Love to you and all of your connections.
Mary

Hey Beautiful Zen,
We made the trip to see you yesterday from the High Desert/Las Vegas area but unfortunately were not able to. We did get to send you snacks of carrots, sugar cubes and apple treats, so I hope you enjoy. I had so wanted to lay eyes on you one more time before your trip to Kentucky but was fortunate enough to see you win last year at the Breeder’s Cup!! It was a huge thrill for me!!! I am glad that you are being so well taken care of and that people have put your welfare as the No. 1 priority. You and all yor team have been amazing and please know that you are a such an ambassador for the sport and all of your fans have been very grateful for the opportunity to share this part of your life. I pray for a safe trip to the next stage in your life, your health and your happiness. Love, hugs and kisses!!!!! Pat

Wonderful Z, good thing this is an email, otherwise there would be tears on the page. I’m so sad you’re leaving Southern California. You will have nice friends in Kentucky, male and female, but you’ll hate the weather. I think you should have a date with AP Indy or Giants Causeway and them come back home to California. The Mosses could build you a little farm here to raise your babies. You are such a phenomenon, that your suitors should to come to you. Bless you and be safe!

Thank you Zenyatta for all the therapy. You have brought a smile to my face everytime I visited your barn. I hope you enjoyed my Xmas stocking. I saw that Mario had mounted it near your stall. Don’t forget to have John give you the Guiness in your stocking before you leave.Safe trip with many beautiful babies!!!

Zen; you deserve every bit of special treatment; you are loved!! I can be slightly possessive in my nature; but I know my heart loves you so, and so do many others, and that makes me happy. Besides, your team has been so wonderful to us; I especially like Ann Moss and Mario. When you won your races Ann was filled with so much emotion. I feel what she is feeling, and Mario, was the best as he brought us to you. Have a great time at your party and I with friends are driving for your Keeneland celebration-farewell from Wi. Love always

Hi! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My weblog looks weird when viewing from my apple iphone. I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to resolve this problem. If you have any recommendations, please share. Appreciate it!

Excellent blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any suggestions? Many thanks! Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your post seem to be running off the screen in Firefox. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the issue fixed soon. Cheers
