Good Morning,
I hope you had a fabulous weekend! I sure did! It all started on Friday afternoon when several of MY BARN 55 FRIENDS flew into Lexington for MY BIRTHDAY! Ann, Dottie, Dawn Hunkin (one of my vets), Michelle (one of John’s assistants and my personal masseuse while I was at the barn), Isabelle (who was my rider whenever Steve was off)Lara and Claudia (Moss family members and 2 of my biggest cheerleaders) all flew in to be with me for the celebration. Sarah joined us when everyone got to the farm. This was all planned in advance…so it is very special that it was able to really HAPPEN!
Charles and the guys helped me get ready for my party. I was outside grazing after my bath when everyone arrived. There were all kinds of snacks and goodies to eat! My favorites were carrots, pears, bananas and peppermints. There was a SPECIAL CAKE JUST FOR ME…and cupcakes for everyone at the farm. They had Z’s, Apple Blossoms or Crowns on them! My John sent his camera with Dottie…so we have tons of photos for him to download and share with ALL OF YOU later this week.
I also received so many cards and gifts from so many wonderful people. You guys are too much! The photo at the top of the page is from a kindergarten class in New York. They did a life-size drawing of ME. They used cotton balls for the white on my legs and my blaze and yarn for my mane and tail. The students wrote me messages all over the card! This really took a great deal of hard work for the students and their teacher. It is absolutely TOO CUTE! It is also very touching that they would do this for ME! We have sent this card back to California to Barn 55 where John is going to display it. I am SO PROUD!
The 5th grade class from Ohio sent a fruit basket (it was terrific) and some of you even sent ME checks for the farm to buy me peppermints and fruit. I am truly speechless at all of this KINDNESS! I want you to know…I am DEEPLY TOUCHED and VERY APPRECIATIVE of all of this THOUGHTFULNESS!
I’m now 7! I can’t wait for John to share the rest of the photos with you of my PARTY! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING!
On another note, I wanted to let you know about the ZENYATTA BRONZE CONTEST! As Dottie was out of town this weekend, she could not get to the post office to get all of the entries until later today. Thus, in fairness to everyone, we’ll start the drawing on Wednesday. We will pick the 64 cards for the first part of the contest on that day. So sorry for the inconvenience…but there was no way to get the cards from the last few days until this afternoon. We appreciate your understanding this change in schedule!
Again, thank you for making ME FEEL SO SPECIAL in SO MANY WAYS!
With love,
Hugs to all~

Fantastic, Zenny! Love the pictures – thanks so much for all that you and your team(s) continue to share with everyone. The good karma you spread is priceless.

You seem to have had an absolute blast this past weekend, Zenyatta! Looking at that picture of the cupcakes for you made me hungry! It was nice of that school class to make a life sized picture of you and write all those comments on it. I hope you enjoyed your California buddies and everybody else who came out to Lane’s End Farm to celebrate with you on your birthday. You had lots of pears, carrots, peppermint, and other goodies. You probably hoped your birthday celebration would never end. Too bad about Kentucky losing. It’s down to Connecticut and Butler. Will you be watching, Zenyatta? Who are you for now in the National Championship?
TZ
Happy Birthday Zenyatta! You look so pretty even if the photo is reversed. I’m glad you had such a good time!
I can’t wait to see all the photos.

Beautiful Zenyatta, You do bring such joy to our lives by sharing this special day with us. Mrs. Moss and Dottie surely pulled out all the stops by bringing your CA girl friends from Barn 55 to your party, bet you remembered each one of them. I remember when Isabelle rode you for the last time as her birthday gift and I have a photo of that day. What dear memories you have created along the way. Many thanks to your family and Lane’s End for their endless devotion to you and to us. Tell Dottie not to worry about the delay in drawing cards, she already exceeds any expectations for her time spent on keeping us updated on your busy life. I must say, you were the cutest cupcake of all. Much Love to You, pretty girl.

Hi Zenny: I am so happy you had such a wonderful birthday with your family and friends. That is so cool that so many of your CA family had the chance to fly to Kentucky to see you. Everyone, especially you, must have been so excited to see each other again. Zenny, I sent you a present of peppermints and cards from NYC on Friday. I sent it special delivery just so the package would arrive on your birthday. I was so disappointed to find out that you just received it today. Oh well, the peppermints will taste just as good, and I’ll know not to wait until the last minute next year. The card from the kindergarten class in New York is beautiful! Wow, they sure did do a lot of work on that card! How great it was of them to be so nice and do something so special. Sounds like you had lots of fun on your birthday!! Love, Linda

@TZ: Just curious, how do you know the photo is reversed?

Zenny, sounds like you had a great “girls day out!” The pictures are wonderful Dottie. The one of Zenny eating her carrot is a hoot. Happy Birthday Zenyatta. Good luck to everyone who entered the contest.

I’m glad you had a wonderful birthday and had your friends come from California to be with you. You know you are special for everyone to come and be with you I’m sure they miss not being close to you. I sure have hopes of seeing you one day. I had a chance to see Seattle Slew when he made a stop at Longacres. He was also one of a kind. He was the horse I followed and I still look for his blood line. Now I will keep a eye on your blood line. September 21.1992 was a sad day Longacres closed. My Grandfather and Grandmother got a picture of Man O’ War signed by Fred Stone on September 21,1992. I found out that Man O’ War is a ways back in your blood line on I think it your Moms side any way I have the picture that Fred Stone did of you I will soon have them framed and put up for all to enjoy. You are very special to a lot of people. Take Care and enjoy your treats, Can not wait to see your birthday pictures. Bye for now Take Care and God Bless.

I am so happy you loved your birthday card. Wait until the kids see this tomorrow when they come to school tomorrow. You will have made their day. I won’t see their faces as I will be at another building but…I KNOW I will hear about it. :>) Glad you had such a great day. You deserved it and having your favorite gal pals to share it with you…it doesn’t get much better than that! I think you saw how many people admire you just from all your birthday wishes and gifts.
