Good Morning Everyone!
Wow! What a day I had yesterday! IT WAS A GIRLS’ DAY with my California friends coming to Kentucky to celebrate my birthday! The pictures are getting downloaded and I will share them with you next week!
We had a great, great time! And YES…my cake had some fabulous frosting!
On another note, I was honored for getting the WILLIAM H. MAY AWARD recently. A horse has NEVER received this honor before…I am the first! I AM REALLY SO PROUD!

I truly want to THANK EVERYONE WHO WORKED SO HARD to HELP ME be acknowledged for this AWARD!
Happy Saturday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

The blankets have a special name but I did not catch it today.
Maybe someone knows their official name. Mo’s site is sooo cute.
And Mike Repole is real fan friendly. Has everyone seen the video
Of Mo right before feeding time. It is hilarious. I thought he was going
To take the grooms hand off. Glad you are enjoying the site Sheema.

Jerry Bailey was on HRTV today commenting on all of the Derby
Hopefuls. He mentioned how light or delicate boned some of the colts
Were. Built like Fillys so distance may be an issue for some with these
Frames/bone structure. Wonder what is going on with breeding to
Produce such light bone structure?

Has everyone seen this outstanding tribute by smcracing1? It’s called Zenyatta “The Greatest” Part 2. It is set to “Thanks for the Memories” and “Dancing Queen:” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_K8HEs7xWU&feature=related
(I hope someone can make this a hyperlink—my computer doesn’t want to do it!)
@ J Smith and Valeria Cannon— Thanks for pointing us to the facebook pages of Uncle Mo, Awesome Maria, R Heat Lightning, and Brethern. I caught the impressive performances of Awesome Maria and R Heat Lightning at Gulfstream on TV on Saturday, but had no idea these two young ladies had set their caps on Uncle Mo and Brethern. TOO CUTE!
Elizabeth
Grats beautiful girl! I miss seeing you race, but being able to keep up with what’s going on with you and your Team Z family really makes me and my husband happy!
Trina Nagele
OH, it looks like Zenny made the hyperlink active for me! Thanks, Zenny!

We celebrated here on Thursday about your William H. May Award, Zenny — I said, “You are a trailblazer, Zenny, going where no horse has gone before!”

Kari Bussell
Thank you to everyone for always being so generous and kind towards me. I was dragged kicking and screaming into FB by Stephanie Lambert a few weeks before the 2010 BCC. I mention this because due to my lack of computer and FB skills I have just recently been made aware of just how wonderful, supportive and kind so many of you have been to me with prayers, warm wishes, and very kind comments from one end of FB to the other.I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and generosity of spirit from so many. I have been touched, moved to tears of gratitude in ways I can not come close to finding words to express.
Dear Zenyatta, Dottie & all of team Zenny,
You bring out the best in all of us and mutual love for you has created friendships that will last a lifetime. I must add that under this diary posting I do not know any of the very dear fellow lovers of Zenny.I honestly have no idea if they have a clue who I am. I thought that fact made the love bestowed even more touching…Thank you fellow lovers of Zenyatta.@ Amanda Gilliland wow!- that was so beautiful. I am going to have that engraved on a plaque to hang with all my Zenny prints. picures, portraits, and posters. thank you.
Karen
Congratulations on the award. Can’t wait to see birthday pictures. Love you !

AWARD? DOTTIE DESERVES BLOG-OF-THE-YEAR AWARD! Congrats, Queen Zen on you being the first horse to get the award.
@KARI Bussell, I too was crazy for Zen years back and paid $70/month cable so I could get TVG just to see her dance. I could barely watch those come from (way) behind races, they did this old lady’s stomach in. I hadn’t noticed the lack of videos, because I watched everyone of them. But thank you for taking them. And you were so right about the lack of respect, just not getting HOY 2009 and giving it to Rachel was a slap in the face after WINNING the Cup that year.
I was buying a new car that day in ’09 and while waiting for it to come sat in a room with a big screen TV with others waiting for their repaired cars. I told them that I was watching a horse race and switched the channel. None of them, none of them, knew that horse racing could be found on TV and had never heard of Zenyatta so I had to explain all her accomplishments. Of course after the race, Zenny had 5 more fans.
Part of the problem with racing is that it is run by men – not kings. Peppers Pride got no recognition either and she tied Zen’s record. Both were scoffed: Zen because she did not run against anyone great (just all the greats in the Breeders Cup) and Peppers Pride because she was “only” in New Mexico. Such garbage. (Pepper has just had her foal, she is on Facebook, it would be nice if she had larger numbers just to recognize her too, recognition she barely got from the industry.)
If you look at who is reading and responding to Zen’s blog, it is FEMALE. The industry should take note of this. The powers that be have decided the Preakness should be come a drunken infield fest with a Kegasus symbol. This will bring no fans, just drunken kids, and racing on the level of Zenyatta deserves better. This is why I say it is a sport run by just men, not kings. We need WOMEN to run the sport, and just like Zen’s thousands of fans, this nurturing will bring better respect to all working in the industry.

@Kari Bussell – I had to laugh a bit when I saw your post about betting. I have gone to the races some over the years (in this case simulcast), but on my first Zenyatta race I fell in love with her before the race was even run…her beauty, her personality and her wonderful demeanor were so on display and won me forever. I just couldn’t bet for or against her but just enjoyed her glorious performance. Then the next time I bet $100 to win but then couldn’t bring myself to cash the ticket. That seemed a little foolish, so I kept to $2.00 win tickets on later races. Still couldn’t bring myself to cash them in!
But, dearest Zenyatta, I’ve decided to cash all but one $2.00 ticket and send that money to Old Friends. I did send a gift yesterday in your name for your birthday, and this will be for and because of you also.
So happy about your latest awesome award. None of us here on this site are surprised to learn that you are the first (and may possibly be the only) horse to be so honored. Loving you so much from Texas.
Joyce
@ Kari Bussell – As always, when I post I immediately think of something (or things) I have left off. I wanted to thank you for the youtube videos of Zenyatta, which showed your love for her front and center. I enjoyed each one so much. I’m not very “technology” knowledgeable, but I managed to find them! My local track tried very hard to entice Zenyatta to come to Texas, but unfortunately were not on the agenda. We have a very “horse friendly” track surface, I understand. That makes me happy.
I don’t normally bet $100 but I wanted to show that I was supremely confident and it didn’t seem right to bet less (and show less confidence).
Dearest Zenyatta, my above situation may sound sort of silly, I guess, but then you sort of bring that out in me, along with some other even more wonderful feelings. I was so glad to hear about your birthday party and just can’t wait for the pictures! Love and xxx
