It’s MY BIRTHDAY! Photo by John Shirreffs

Good Morning,

Well, to all of my friends born on April 1st…and ME…HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (That includes Dottie’s sister, Fran!) I think I’m having some FUN visitors today from California to help me celebrate. It should be exciting!

Here is my cake from last year’s party at Barn 55! This is the photo of me literally taking a huge bite out of it. As Steve reminded Dottie yesterday, ZENYATTA really likes frosting! I bet my cake this year will have some!

I hope you have a wonderful day! The postcards are arriving. We begin the drawing next week.

I’m off to get ready for my guests! We’ll take lots of photos to share with all of you!

    @Astrid– thank-you so very very much–I am looking at the website.
    @LauraJ– Well, you gave me something to really consider-yeast infection– I am so glad I have received some excellent help from my fellow “Zenyatta fans” I try to take care Max myself with natural remedies before the sometimes stressful and expensive vet visit( no offense- I appreciate the medical profession)and he is more relaxed with me. So, I am going to consider whats been brought to my attention and I will let you know — THANKS VERY MUCH!!!!!!!

    @Janet Cutting. Hey, Janet. I fostered cats and kittens for about 6 years for our local humane society. Almost without exception, all of them had ear mites and they are a mess to get rid of. A really important thing is to get all of the brown crud out of the ear completely. That brown crud (if it really is ear mites) is like the bug’s feces (yuk!) and keeps the medicine being used from getting all the way down into the ear canal to heal everything up. I used a Q-Tip and peroxide and really got down in there to clean everything. Needless to say, with cats that’s a real process. If you can get all of that out, whatever you’re using should work better. One thing the vet told me was that if not treated successfully, after a period of time (not sure how long) those mites can cause so much damage that it could result in deafness. It’s pretty hard to treat something like that if you’re not sure exactly what is causing it. I was really lucky because the humane society paid for the vet and even if they hadn’t, I have a vet that’s a good friend and gives me a break on the cost. It’s also easier to have an experienced vet tech get those ears really clean whether it’s a dog or cat (believe me, dogs are a lot easier than cats). Good luck with it and I hope you find an answer soon.

    @Janet Cutting – This book helped me greatly over the years. It is called The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care – it has excellent advice for holistic care for ear problems and many other issues. I has the recipe for the garlic oil. You can buy it cheaply used at amazon.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ZENYATTA!!!!!!!!!! I hope your birthday went well. I am a big frosting lover myself and I have a birthday coming up soon. Hope you had fun with your California buddies! How does it feel to be 7 years old, girl? I would have come out myself to celebrate your birthday if I could have and I would have bought you some presents and some cake. You would have had to drag me out of Lane’s End Farm kicking and screaming.
