Hello Everyone,

I truly want to thank all of you for the heartfelt wishes and love you have expressed to me since hearing ‘my not in foal at this moment’ news! You are so sweet and gracious in your kindness to nurture ME at this time! I so appreciate all of your concern!

I am really doing fine. In reality, this is not an uncommon thing to happen with a maiden mare like I am. It happened early in the breeding season so I will have ample time to be bred again and get in foal. As I mentioned before, so many things in life don’t always go as planned. Upon reflection, I know with my career, it would have been great to run at 2 or early 3…but I just wasn’t ready. Fortunately, MY TEAM knew that and worked with me on my own individual developmental schedule.

In relation to this current news, it is simply a minor set-back…but I will be fine. I guess I just love to do things at my own pace!

Please remember, I AM A GREAT FINISHER! Once I get into the rhythm of things…I have a history of repeating the pattern successfully…19 times in a ROW! Now that thought is just TOO CUTE!

Again, thank you…ALL OF YOU…for the love and concern you have so kindly expressed to ME!

    Hi Zenny:
    HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You were born on April Fool’s Day to fool all the nay sayers that said you couldn’t beat the boys or run well on dirt. Boy, did you show them! I am so very sorry for your disappointment on being in foal but next time will be the charm.
    We are all so lucky that you were born and you have John, Dottie & the Moss’s who are willing to share you with your thousands of fans.
    Enjoy your special day and all the many treats and well wishes you so richly deserve.

    @Susan – your video was absolutely adorable and very clever. I loved the drawings. Your students all sound very cute. Thanks for making and sharing the video with us all. I just know Zenyatta and her ‘family’ are going to love it to pieces.

    Happy Birthday Zenyatta! So sorry for your loss, or “ours”? There is usually a reason for these seemingly unexpected things. Female human athletes (particularly runners) tend to have early miscarriages; body stress. Your body and mind mode is, “It’s spring, time to train for racing and the dance!”
    Have your caretakers shown you pictures or videos of mares with foals or told you what this phase in your life is about, so that you understand what is happening? You are probably thinking that not racing is punishment for losing your last race. If you haven’t been around broodmares during the time of your career, then you might not see ol Bernie as a hunk you are mating with, but as further punishment. We eagerly await the gift of your foal and we know the foal will be taken from you; do you? For centuries people believed that horses have no understanding, and don’t understand our words when we talk to them but horses do understand us; and even though they can’t talk to us verbally, they will respond to our talk. Horse people know this, and the same belief was held about cats and dogs and that human babies don’t smile they are just passing gas! Do we smile when we pass gas? My horse knowledge is from observation and interaction with herds of Arabians, including broodmares; the senior mare of one herd keeps her foal away from human visitors, knowing that baby will too soon be taken from her. Nack, in his publication about Secretariat, tells that he sulked in his stall after losing a race and he would think about what happened then come back, having corrected his mistake and not just win his next race but set a record! What are saying Zenyatta?

    Happy Birthday My Sweet Lady Zenyatta!

    @ Susan one more thing I forgot to add
    My parrot, a blue front amazon named Jennybird, LOVES your video!!! She is 38 years old and loves children’s voices. When I played it she started talking in a high pitch voice and singing with the children. It is just too cute!! I wanted Zenyatta to hear that Jennybird says “Happy Birthday” to her too!
    Jennybird said to tell You & Dottie, that my Mom is so HAPPY to hear from you each day because she reads out loud your Daily Posts to me & my brothers & sister which are dogs!     HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEETHEART :) Besides being grateful you are ok, I have found another way to see the glass half full. You will get to see your “Fiance” Bernie twice this year. Most Mares only see the Father of their foal once. This way you two will get to know each other better! I Love You, & eat lots of Carrot Cake, with Peppermint Pear Icing :)
