Good Morning,
All of you are SO SWEET! Thank you so much for the warm wishes on my 28 Day Scan Results. I’m doing great and TRULY APPRECIATE all of your kind comments. The next big date is the 42 day scan. As Dottie has mentioned earlier, it is a very important one. After this, if all is A-OK, the pregnancy is considered to be ‘pretty secure’ and well on its way. HOOVES CROSSED, for sure!
This morning, John sent this photo to ME! He wanted ME to know that my friends at BARN 55 are also sending their regards. Here’s ZARDANA sending her greetings to ME! I’d know that TREE anywhere. I’ve stood there for zillions of hours over the last 4 years. It is great to see her again and to keep in touch with my dear friends at the barn.
The postcards are starting to arrive for the contest. I think the postal service in Arcadia really LOVES ME! They have been fabulous about everything. When Dottie was there the other day, a man in line was wearing a Zenyatta Hat. He told her he’d had offers from people wanting to BUY it from him. This is TOO CUTE!
I’m hearing you are all very thoughtful and additionally rather clever in your responses on the postcards. I’m also delighted that you like the idea of BRONZE #19 for the winner! I really thought that particular number would be incredibly significant! Thank you for feeling the same way!
Several have asked for the rules of the contest again. They are in Diary #205 in detail. If you click on the top part of the web-site that says NEWS, it will take you to a list of the prior posts. Just in case you need the information again, the mailing address is in Diary #209.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
Life Is Sweet’s foal…isn’t HE a DOLL! I’m so glad her owners let me introduce him to you yesterday. I’m hearing she is really having a wonderful time with him and he is a very active and friendly colt! It is so much fun to follow all of this activity at the farm. Plus, I’m learning so much. I gather that he will be totally with his MOM and nursing for approximately the next 4-6 months. She will teach him so many great things. He will even learn to ‘eat the grass and graze’ from her! I know Life Is Sweet will be great at this. I grazed next to her for countless afternoons at BARN 55. In addition to being a very accomplished athlete, she’s a ‘great grazer’.
Can you imagine ME teaching my foal to graze? Not to sound too bold, but I’m also really TERRIFIC at this and very experienced. My confidence is really high in relation to this aspect of becoming a MOM. I’ve got ‘teaching a little foal to graze’ down PAT. It will be a SLAM DUNK for ME! (Just had to say it…as we are in the midst of March Madness.)
Speaking of that, the games are moving right along. They are playing the SWEET SIXTEEN rounds now. My San Diego State gave it a good college try (no pun intended)…but lost last night. They did very well…just came up a few points short. Kentucky plays tonight. The winners of these games now will go forward to participate in the ELITE EIGHT Rounds. It is getting very exciting!
Tomorrow, there are some more 3 year old prep races for the Kentucky Derby and the Dubai Carnival of Racing takes place early in the morning our time! My Mikie is over there riding a couple horses from California. I’m sending him a BIG HIGH HOOF for GOOD LUCK!
Wow! This being a SPORTS FAN IS SO MUCH FUN!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(YEAH…I smell some bananas and pears coming MY WAY!)

Z my girls at Stanford held off NC Tar Heels tonight. It was so close to the last two minutes–it could have gone either way. Stanford is in the PAC 10 part of your conference at Barn 55. They play Gonzaga Monday night…We’ll see.
Night Z. Sweet horsie dreams.

@Shema–At equibase.com you can click on Virtual Stable and enter horses that you would like to have in your own “virtual stable.” When I added Zardana, it said that she is now 7.

When I was first put on premarin after my surgery I knew nothing about it I was actually on it for awhile. Someone in a conversation mentioned where it came from and I was just astounded. I could not believe such a thing. So I did my research and was horrified. I quit taking it right there and then. I put up with the hot flashes etc. I told my doctor no way was I doing that. I refused to be a part of something I knew had to be horrible. I’ve agonized over it for a longtime and I tell other women about it.
The story of the PMU mare broke my heart but its something that really needs to be said. I’m glad it had a happy ending for that mare.
I still ended up years later going thru breast cancer and everything that goes along with it. It could have been the premarin (the high dosage) that some poor mare had to suffer to give up so people like me could avoid a hot flash. Its just awful. My heart bleeds for these horses. Thanks for the story we also need to remember Knowledge is power spread the word.
In other moments good morning Zenyatta I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. We had snow here in Kansas City yesterday can you believe it? I love you Zeny say hello to your gal pals.

You’re the best, Zen! And some of these posts remind me that I have to get a Zen hat and tee-shirt too.
I love your postings and really appreciate how all your friends back in CA — including fellow Z-girl Zardana and Dottie Shirreffs — help us keep in touch with you.
What are you doing for your real birthday on April 1? Hope there’ll be a nice peppermint or carrot cake for you!
XOXO,
Zen4Zen aka Laura

Who said adorable Zardana is modeling her Derby Day Hat for us? Adorable comment. Also, the ‘Carmen-Miranda-Look-Alike’ observation. ~ For the brave note about your Premarin discoveries, Kathy Kimber: it makes a huge difference that your personal experience weighs in on such a choice. No way to thank you enough for that; you deserve mega-hugs & no more self-reproach, please. OK?
Jean Moore
@Kathryn Cogswell, I was the Derby hat person. I always think that Zenyatta is so glamorous that I immediately put her into a girl category. Also love your posts each day, you are TOO SMART! as Zenny would say.
carolyn
@Kathy Kimber, Please stop taking Premarin. My mother took both Premarin and the other one you take so that Premarin won’t give you cancer, Guess what? in 2000 after taking both for awhile my mother found out she had breast cancer. She had to have one breast removed. She is a cancer survivor today and is doing great. but no thanks to the Premarin and Primovera ( I thank that’s the other one) she went off it as soon as she found out she had breast cancer. Please just live with the hot flashes.
Actuallly you can go to a Natural Foods store and get a cream to run on the inside of your legs and it takes care of the hot flashes. It’s a hormone cream and a lady I know uses it for her hotflashes and she says it works great. I will find out the name of this cream on MOnday and post it back on here for you.
carolyn
I meant to say “rub” it on the inside of your legs.
@KATHY KIMBER, Kathy I just got off the phone with the lady I was referring to, here is the name of the cream,
Eternally Fit Pro Cream Plus, moisturizing progesterone cream. call a Natural Health Food Store or go online and order you some today. she swears by it because thats what it’s for. Keep me updated once you use it.

Hi Zenny: I hope you are enjoying you Sunday morning. @Astrid Thanks for the link to the video of the adorable Clydesdale commercial.

This is what I would put on my postcard if I could. This was my favorite song long before Zenyatta came along, but now I think of her with every word.

@ Marilynb Morgan -= thank you for the link to that beautiful tribute. I’m buying stock in Kleenix.
To You, Zenyatta, and all your friends here–Happy Sunday with lots of love. I’m off to ride my boy, Hnykill. (I didn’t give him that name – he came from Iceland already named-hahaha!)
Isabelle
That was absolutely breathtaking Marilyn. Thank you for sharing.
Kathy Kimber
Thanks Kathryn for your kind words I always enjoy your input on this website and look for it because you share a wealth of knowledge.
For women going thru surgury or menopause there are other alternatives. You should also remember God made us the way we are for a reason. I have adjusted very well health wise. After my cancer surgery there were also drugs they wanted me to take and after researching I said NO. Saying no is a choice maybe right, maybe wrong but I don’t want to be part of anything that endangers or hurts any of our four legged friends. I’m going to be fine because I am in charge of me and I will endeavor to make good choices. I know several women who have also made similar choices because of what I told them and they checked for themselves. So I repeat knowledge IS power. To all of you enjoy your day. To our beloved Zenyatta just eat those pears and bananas and live it up.
Kathy Kimber
Also thanks for the name of the Healty cream for the hot flashes. I haven’t had them in years and did go off the premarin as soon as I found out where it came from. I will pass the info on about the cream to others it is valuable in itself thanks for telling me about it. My cancer surgery was ten years ago I stay strong because I am in charge of ME. Have a great day people. Hugs to all of you
Dani
@Astrid – thank you for the link to the incredibly sweet Clydesdale video. What a way to start my Sunday – big fat tears plopping down into my hot tea.

Hey Z fans on Sunday at Plam Meadows Z’s half brother by Giant’s Causeway, “Souper Spectacular” worked 3/8’s. It was his first work since finishing 4th in the Ft.Lauderdale Stks in Jan. He is a “turf” runner who has won 3 of 7 starts and is trained by Seth Benzel. Watch for him this spring & summer.
Dani
P.S. Good luck to your Kentucky Wildcats Zenyatta (Dottie, John and Sophie). :)
