Good Morning,
All of you are SO SWEET! Thank you so much for the warm wishes on my 28 Day Scan Results. I’m doing great and TRULY APPRECIATE all of your kind comments. The next big date is the 42 day scan. As Dottie has mentioned earlier, it is a very important one. After this, if all is A-OK, the pregnancy is considered to be ‘pretty secure’ and well on its way. HOOVES CROSSED, for sure!
This morning, John sent this photo to ME! He wanted ME to know that my friends at BARN 55 are also sending their regards. Here’s ZARDANA sending her greetings to ME! I’d know that TREE anywhere. I’ve stood there for zillions of hours over the last 4 years. It is great to see her again and to keep in touch with my dear friends at the barn.
The postcards are starting to arrive for the contest. I think the postal service in Arcadia really LOVES ME! They have been fabulous about everything. When Dottie was there the other day, a man in line was wearing a Zenyatta Hat. He told her he’d had offers from people wanting to BUY it from him. This is TOO CUTE!
I’m hearing you are all very thoughtful and additionally rather clever in your responses on the postcards. I’m also delighted that you like the idea of BRONZE #19 for the winner! I really thought that particular number would be incredibly significant! Thank you for feeling the same way!
Several have asked for the rules of the contest again. They are in Diary #205 in detail. If you click on the top part of the web-site that says NEWS, it will take you to a list of the prior posts. Just in case you need the information again, the mailing address is in Diary #209.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
Life Is Sweet’s foal…isn’t HE a DOLL! I’m so glad her owners let me introduce him to you yesterday. I’m hearing she is really having a wonderful time with him and he is a very active and friendly colt! It is so much fun to follow all of this activity at the farm. Plus, I’m learning so much. I gather that he will be totally with his MOM and nursing for approximately the next 4-6 months. She will teach him so many great things. He will even learn to ‘eat the grass and graze’ from her! I know Life Is Sweet will be great at this. I grazed next to her for countless afternoons at BARN 55. In addition to being a very accomplished athlete, she’s a ‘great grazer’.
Can you imagine ME teaching my foal to graze? Not to sound too bold, but I’m also really TERRIFIC at this and very experienced. My confidence is really high in relation to this aspect of becoming a MOM. I’ve got ‘teaching a little foal to graze’ down PAT. It will be a SLAM DUNK for ME! (Just had to say it…as we are in the midst of March Madness.)
Speaking of that, the games are moving right along. They are playing the SWEET SIXTEEN rounds now. My San Diego State gave it a good college try (no pun intended)…but lost last night. They did very well…just came up a few points short. Kentucky plays tonight. The winners of these games now will go forward to participate in the ELITE EIGHT Rounds. It is getting very exciting!
Tomorrow, there are some more 3 year old prep races for the Kentucky Derby and the Dubai Carnival of Racing takes place early in the morning our time! My Mikie is over there riding a couple horses from California. I’m sending him a BIG HIGH HOOF for GOOD LUCK!
Wow! This being a SPORTS FAN IS SO MUCH FUN!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(YEAH…I smell some bananas and pears coming MY WAY!)

Dearest, Zenyatta. Looks like Zardana is playing, hide and go seek. What a great picture from John. Glad he is keeping you in touch with the old gang. I hope the wonderful crew and beautiful thoroughbreds of Barn 55 are still getting some visitors. They certainly deserve our continued support and we want to keep the waive of change in fan involvement going strong. Still hoping I might get there someday. So disappointed that I couldn’t make it happen while you were still there, Zenny. They all must miss seeing you under that tree grazing away. It is just one of your many, many, many talents that you will be sharing with your own little one. Hooves crossed for the next big scan to be just as it should. How fun that the postcards are beginning to arrive. Please be sure to thank the Arcadia postal staff for all of their help. It was wonderful of the connections of Life is Sweet to share her with us. Loved the pictures. Here’s wishing Mickie a safe and successful race meet in Dubai. Hope to catch some of the races. I’ll certainly be watching the Derby preps! Enjoy those pears and bananas, Zenny. Come to think of it, I’m ready for some lunch, myself. Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@Kitei – The video of Smoky was amazing. So much trust and wonderful communication between horse and rider.
@Ann Maree – Loved the “She” video.
@Deborah Richman – Thank you for the cake recipe. Yum :)

@Janis –
Last I heard, Rachel still IS what she is, as a broodmare, still a contender of sorts!
Not only that, she’s already got a visitor program! LOOK at this — can we hope Zenny may try to “come from behind” to outdo her in this department too?

Your friend Zardana is beautiful just like you, Zenny. I have a Zenyatta t-shirt I got at Keeneland and every time I wear it people are always wanting to know where they can get one. You are just so special. Everybody loves you! :)

Dear Zenyatta,
I loved watching you on the
racetrack and hopefully maybe if my
parents and I come to Kentucky for a
vacation this year we can schedule a tour
of Lane’s End and maybe even see you in
person.

Hi QUEEN ZEN,
Boy do I understand I am a ‘great grazer’ also. Potato chips, chocolate, cashews, and veggies and fruit sometimes. I can even graze in my sleep, hmmm diet sounds like an idea. Perhaps I need to follow you and also exercise. You are such a good example Zen.
Tamyatta
Zenny, tears started rolling when I saw the picture….at first second’s glance I thought I was back in time….I know that tree well too!! I know you are happy but gosh I miss you so much on the track and in barn 55!! I’m trying hard not to cry every day but when I watch your John’s wonderful videos I just can’t help it! So glad your baby is doing well. Love ya with all my heart. Tammi

Beautiful Zenyatta, Thank John and Dottie for sharing the photo of Zardana with us, looks as if she is wearing an extravagant Derby hat and getting into mischief. Still, she is very pretty. There is just something special about a Z horse, wouldn’t you agree? Your sense of humor is priceless, found myself laughing out loud at your grazing expertise. Guess Dottie and John taught you that laughter is the best medicine. Thanks for another happy day spending these moments with you.
Jan
Zenyatta,
That Zardana looks pretty mischievous to me :) All those TB’s at John’s barn are so lucky. I hope you are running and rolling with your pals in the nice weather. Are you gaining weight. The games are getting more exciting every day. Post cards coming to John. Be healthy and happy big mama. :)

Thank you Zeny and Dottie for sharing Zardana’s lovely picture with us. Another beautiful lady! Yes, the tree looks very familiar. I would like to go and visit Barn 55 again and say hello to your friends if they will allow me. Take care of yourself. Hugs, MV

Hey Zenyatta, your pal Zardana aka Little Z, looks beautiful! And as I saw on the previous entry, your other pal, Life is Sweet, had a handsome and healthy colt! Isn’t spring great? So glad to hear that your own horsey embryo (if that’s what it’s called at this stage) is doing well. Enjoy the hoops action. Good luck to “Mikie” and safe trips to all the competitors in Dubai. XXXOOO to you!

You are blessed to have so many friends like Zardana. Wherever you are you make friends. I was enlarging a photo of you I had taken when you raced at Oaklawn for my wall when this couple said “What a beautiful big horse!” I went on and on about you that they thought I owned you!! ha ha; oh don’t I wish; only in my dreams. While in Oaklawn I learned that you also love the roots of the grass. Is that true? I have noticed you are one great grazer, you will have such devotion to your foal and teach all the ropes. But, it will be fun for you to see Life is Sweet with her colt, who is so huggable, just darling.
Guess what; I think both of our basketball teams from Wi. made it to the next round, won by a nose. (so to speak)ha
I love you with 2 kisses on your soft nose

Dear Zenny, the Arizona Wildcats made it into the Elite Eight and let me tell you, you have A LOT of fans here at University of Arizona. After all, we are home base for the Race Track Industry Program, where students get a bachelors of science in HORSE RACING! Let me tell you it is a dream degree! Our students traveled to Hollywood Park last October to watch you win #19, and we cheered just as loudly then as we did last night for our Wildcats! In fact the house I watched the game at had Zenyatta posters all over the walls of the living room….
Good luck on your 42 day test, or as we say at U of A, Bear Down!!!
Debi Hamari
Beautiful Queen Zenyatta,
What a beautiful friend you have! Zardana looks very playful and spirited, like you! I know she must miss you so much!
Love and hugs!
LauraJ
@Katie Clawson the future jockey, Life is Sweet is boarded at Lane’s End in Kentucky, the same farm where Zenyatta resides. They don’t hang out together, though. Life Is Sweet has lived there since last year and has been with her own barn buddies.

Wow Zenyatta-you’re too much and funny you are! Nice pic of Zardana and I bet she misses you as you do her. Glad you got the grass grazing down pat so that you are ready to teach your little one when the time comes. You will be one heck of a mama. Like you, wishing your Mikie the best in Dubai tomorrow! Really enjoy coming here and reading your daily diary-next time you see your friend Dottie, remind her what a fine job she is doing assisting you with all this writing. Prayers, Love & Blessings Zenyatta to you and your litle precious unborn baby!

Dear Zenny.
I sent out 4 postcards today, as well as a Bday card that one went to Lanes End for you. The lady at the post office said “Birthday?” Its like she knew about you and knew it was coming up. Then I told her about the contest and she thought it was terriffic. Your loved everywhere! :)

Hi Zenny: Thank you for sharing the greeting from Zardana. It is nice of your friends to keep in touch with you and to let your fans know how they are doing and when they will be racing. It would be so much fun to come to CA this summer and see everyone at Barn 55. After writing to you all this while, I feel like I have gotten to know your CA family!!! It would be great to see the sign: “Zenyatta Way,” and your “house” where you lived for 4+ years, which now has memorabilia from your racing days. All this would be so much fun to see. It would also be fun to see your friends race while I am there. On another note, I happy to hear that Life is Sweet and her baby are doing well. I am just wondering, when LIS and her foal go out to the paddock will they be among other mares with their foals, too? That would be too cute to see all the foals playing together. Well Zenny, I mailed my postcards on Thursday, from NYC. So they should be arriving soon. Take care, Love Linda.

Wow, started to get my comments in and got side tracked by that wonderful video of you. Have spent the last half hour, laughing and crying, while watching and reliving the last few years of trackside monents with you. You are truly “SHE”.

Dear Zenny I too have a Zenyatta hat and plan to wear it as I trail ride this spring summer and fall on my beautiful paint horse Lobo. Good luck on the pregnancy and congrats to Life Is Sweet!

You are too cute and such a hoot Z! I am laughing out loud about your grazing prowess and how proud you are of that achievement. You are right though, we did see you grazing for many hours with Mario. I agree, your technique is perfect and your baby will get the hang of it quickly :)
Hooves crossed that all continues to go well for you – we miss you! :)
