Good Morning,
All of you are SO SWEET! Thank you so much for the warm wishes on my 28 Day Scan Results. I’m doing great and TRULY APPRECIATE all of your kind comments. The next big date is the 42 day scan. As Dottie has mentioned earlier, it is a very important one. After this, if all is A-OK, the pregnancy is considered to be ‘pretty secure’ and well on its way. HOOVES CROSSED, for sure!
This morning, John sent this photo to ME! He wanted ME to know that my friends at BARN 55 are also sending their regards. Here’s ZARDANA sending her greetings to ME! I’d know that TREE anywhere. I’ve stood there for zillions of hours over the last 4 years. It is great to see her again and to keep in touch with my dear friends at the barn.
The postcards are starting to arrive for the contest. I think the postal service in Arcadia really LOVES ME! They have been fabulous about everything. When Dottie was there the other day, a man in line was wearing a Zenyatta Hat. He told her he’d had offers from people wanting to BUY it from him. This is TOO CUTE!
I’m hearing you are all very thoughtful and additionally rather clever in your responses on the postcards. I’m also delighted that you like the idea of BRONZE #19 for the winner! I really thought that particular number would be incredibly significant! Thank you for feeling the same way!
Several have asked for the rules of the contest again. They are in Diary #205 in detail. If you click on the top part of the web-site that says NEWS, it will take you to a list of the prior posts. Just in case you need the information again, the mailing address is in Diary #209.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
Life Is Sweet’s foal…isn’t HE a DOLL! I’m so glad her owners let me introduce him to you yesterday. I’m hearing she is really having a wonderful time with him and he is a very active and friendly colt! It is so much fun to follow all of this activity at the farm. Plus, I’m learning so much. I gather that he will be totally with his MOM and nursing for approximately the next 4-6 months. She will teach him so many great things. He will even learn to ‘eat the grass and graze’ from her! I know Life Is Sweet will be great at this. I grazed next to her for countless afternoons at BARN 55. In addition to being a very accomplished athlete, she’s a ‘great grazer’.
Can you imagine ME teaching my foal to graze? Not to sound too bold, but I’m also really TERRIFIC at this and very experienced. My confidence is really high in relation to this aspect of becoming a MOM. I’ve got ‘teaching a little foal to graze’ down PAT. It will be a SLAM DUNK for ME! (Just had to say it…as we are in the midst of March Madness.)
Speaking of that, the games are moving right along. They are playing the SWEET SIXTEEN rounds now. My San Diego State gave it a good college try (no pun intended)…but lost last night. They did very well…just came up a few points short. Kentucky plays tonight. The winners of these games now will go forward to participate in the ELITE EIGHT Rounds. It is getting very exciting!
Tomorrow, there are some more 3 year old prep races for the Kentucky Derby and the Dubai Carnival of Racing takes place early in the morning our time! My Mikie is over there riding a couple horses from California. I’m sending him a BIG HIGH HOOF for GOOD LUCK!
Wow! This being a SPORTS FAN IS SO MUCH FUN!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(YEAH…I smell some bananas and pears coming MY WAY!)

Zenyatta you are just toooo cute. When I read your posts it’s as though you are right in the room with me. You, someday, should write a book. It would be a best seller. Life Is Sweet will be a great mom and the little guy will get wonderful life lessons from her. I give a high hoof to her!! Z, I was hoping San Diego State was going to pull of the win, almost. Now, tonight Z, we are most probably going to be on different sides. As you know,it will the the Kentucky Wildcats against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Yikes, I am a Buckeye fan. It will be an outstanding game and more than likely a buzzer beater. We will be hoping for a good and fun game. Haven’t all the games just been exciting. I love it!!! I hope you will be awake to watch. It is on pretty late. As you would say, Go Cats. I would say Go Bucks. (*_*) We shall see…. I love you Zenyatta. You are by far my favorite athlete now and forever…xoxoxoxoxxo

Ms Zenyatta, please thank Life Is Sweet’s owners for sharing, she is the Princess. Zardana looks great, but she always does..what confidence she has looking right at us. You will be the best Mama ever, teaching your baby to graze, eat bananas, pears, peppermints, carrots, flowers and later on drink some really expensive beer. Also, do not forget to show your baby The Zenyatta Dance…I love you, Big Girl…Lisa g

Can’t wait for your 42 day scan. Once that is done it will be a breeze! You will make a terrific mom. You have such great qualities you are gentle, kind, smart. What more can a mother ask for!
Have a great day.

Hi beautiful Z! The posts from yesterday and today are so full of good things. Your BFF, Life Is Sweet is such a beautiful and good mom to her adorable new foal. With that lightening bolt marking on his forehead he may turn out to be an equine wizard :)
I’m so glad to hear the good news about your scan! You will be a great mom…you have so many great skills to pass on…grazing, running, dancing, how to find peppermints in pockets, etc.
Love the photo of your beautiful friend, Zardana. It is so nice to keep up with Barn 55.
A few posts ago, you mentioned CHOCOLATE GUINNESS CAKE. This recipe was in my inbox this morning, from Taste of Home Magazine

I thought you might like to see this video, which has so much to say about the trust our animals have for us, and about the level of ability “disabled” animals still retain:

Zenyatta, you and Dottie just have to write a book about all of your adventures. This diary is the most entertaining aspect of my day and I mean that in a good way. Not that I’m living a boring life ;-) but the way you two tell us things is priceless. About grazing…you really do have a knack for it and I’m sure your little one will have no trouble learning how to munch that bluegrass. Such a great family you have at Barn 55….everyone you have touched, animal or human will never forget you.
I proudly wear my Z shirt and people always comment how great YOU are. Hope you are enjoying those pears and banannas.
Jenna
A children’s book!

Z you are so lucky to have John making sure all of Barn 55 family and friends get to stay in touch with you. But everyone knows you are one special lady.I want to say THANK YOU to John, Dottie, and Sarah for all the updates and pictures. Have a great weekend Queen Z.

Dear Zenny and Baby Z – Thank you for your beautiful post and the very lovely picture of Zardana. I am so happy that all went well with your latest scan. Can’t wait to share more wonderful news with you. By the way, I noticed that you won the Breeder’s Cup Classic on November 7, 2009. Small world, November 7th is my happy. See great things happen on that day.
Linda
Love all your updates. Still need to get postcards to send.
Patti
Zardana looks like she is looking for you! I know your friends at Barn 55 miss you terribly. I’m at work, so gotta go, but had to take a minute to check in on you. You make me smile!

Dear Zenny. Sorry My Huskies bested your San Diego State last night, but they put up a valiant fight. You do know, don’t you, that two years in a row our beloved Maya Moore, one of the greatest players in UConn Husky women’s basketball history, finished just behind you for AP Female Athlete of the Year (or should we say, Maya finished just behind a horse’s behind?)? You are both great female athletes, even if one of you has two legs and the other four. Can you steer me to the cute Valentine greeting you got from Little Silver Charm? I’ve tried to find it, but can never land on the right diary posting. Keeping my fingers crossed for continued success in your pregnancy. May you and Maya both have great careers as you embark on new endeavors!

Good to see little Z…she is an amazing horse with a lot of heart. She tried so hard to beat you…and easily beat Rachel Alexandra..she has my respect for sure. Have a nice afternoon great one..Love you Z.
Janis
Zenyatta, thank you for the picture of the “Rachel Slayer”. You would have beaten R.A. as well. No doubt about it though R.A. was a good thoroughbred. Thank you for making my day. This would have been my 33rd Anniversary, if my husband was still living. Your Diary is so much fun and uplifting.

Zenny- I’m thinking about how great it is that like any mother to be you’re thinking about the things to teach your coming child! Love it that you are such a grazing expert! That’s a talent to have! :)
