HAPPY THURSDAY TO ALL!
Yesterday was such a fun day! As I mentioned, Isabelle wanted to RIDE ME ONE MORE TIME for her Birthday. Here is the picture of us out ‘playing and exercising’ together. We look GREAT!
John took lots of photos for Isabelle and put them on a disc for her to keep. We hope she enjoys them…all of them.
Then, notice my saddle towel. When we were at Oaklawn Park for the Apple Blossom this year, the track made a pretty pink saddle towel for Mario to keep. The last few days, he has brought it out to the barn and has put it on me. I do look good in PINK…if I say so myself. (Of course, I also look good in PINK/GREEN as well.) This saddle towel is going to be something Mario will cherish forever.
I have continued to have so many visitors. I just think it is amazing the way people love to come and see me. I must say, I am quite flattered by this!
60 Minutes has been working with Dottie on filming my trip to Kentucky on Monday. They are getting security clearances now to film my leaving the barn and traveling to the airport in CA. This is so special.
I must say, I also love reading all of YOUR comments on the Diary. I will ask if they are going to show my ZENYATTA APPRECIATION DAY on TV. I believe TVG will show lots of it. Not sure about any other channel. I will try and find out for you.
The schedule for the day seems to be staying as we reviewed in an earlier Diary. After the horses leave the paddock to go to the track for the 6th race, I will go there. Then when the 6th race finishes, I will go to the front part of the race track. Too cute!
I also saw that some of you wanted Steve to wear the Jockey Cam one more time…so we could all have one more joyous ride together. John said he’d get the batteries charged up…and see if it will work! Oh, technology! Let’s see how it turns out!
It is all getting so exciting. I am one lucky girl!
With love,
Hugs~

I too hope that Mike or Steve will wear the camera once again & take us all on the ride of our lives on board Zenyatta! It was pretty awesome the 1st time. Please record Zenyatta’s Appreciation day & put it all on DVD so that those of us, like myself, who are unable to be there can at least cherish & keep forever the memories of her special day. Thank you to Team Zenyatta for making Zenyatta so accessible to all of us who love her so much.

Dear Zenyatta & Isabell, You both are the picture of perfection, breezing together. Ms Z you are so beautiful when you run and walk. A picture of grand athleticism.
Mario is one unforgettable groom to the queen. I am glad he has the blanket for keepsake.
WOO HOO! 60 minutes for the coverage I will not miss!!
Best to all Z keepers!!

Zenyatta, you look great, and feel special and lucky and are loved by so many because of the incredible, nurturing and loving family that has been caring for you all your life. Many, many blessings to you, and Jerry & Ann, and John & Dottie, Mario & Steve & Mike and all the rest of the crew. May you always be happy. May you always be healthy. May you always be so loved.

I too love the images and the daily blog. I am very happy that Mario has a special blanket of yours forever. I do worry about Team Zenyatta being lost without you, especially Mario. But you are such a happy horse, I think you will enjoy your new friends that you can introduce to your Team when they come to visit. All the best.

Hi, Big Mama!! I can tell by your posts that youre getting really excited!
I’m so happy your having fun. I know you and Isabelle had a great time out playing.
I’m looking very forward to seeing the cam-ride again, you really can cover some ground when you stretch out! Sometimes, I think you forget just how big you are (like when you’re in the paddock with Mario); and other times (like when little children are around), you seem to know very well. You’re an awesome girl!
BTW, you look pretty in any shade of pink! :)

THANK GOD FOR TVG. I was soo worried as to if it was going to be televised. I sure wish I could be there and I can’t so I really look forward to seeing it.
LOVE YOU

I can’t tell you how excited I am that you are coming to Kentucky. My husband has taken the day off work so we can drive to KY to greet you on your arrival @ Keeneland. Pack your wooly horse blanket. High for MOnday is predicted to be 28 degrees. I just got back from buying us hand warmers.

Queen Z. You are amazing and I hope that this new phase in your life is every bit exciting and important as the first part of your life. I have always been a fan of thoroghbred horse racing, but you stepped up the ante when you raced and brought so many more people to our side of the track! No horse has electrified the public in recent times like you did. No other horse ran like you! I wish you and all your connections the best and I know you will be a great mother who will pass along the heart and spirit you possessed to your foals. I can not wait to see your little ones run someday! What an event that will be. Few horses have the title of great, and you my dear, are GREAT! God Bless and take care and enjoy retirement! You gave us all so much joy and pleasure in seeing you run!

Lucky Isabelle! You truly are the most beautiful horse – it’s exciting to see you even in a photo. Hope your team will post a video of the Dec. 5th event for those who might not have access to TVG. What an emotional day that will be!

If I had a final request in my life it would be to stand next to the best horse ever and possibly take a few strands of tail hair to cherish forever….I get shivers every time I see you! Safe travels to Kentucky and take a huge bow in the paddock at Keeneland for me!
Stephanie
I was lucky enough to see you at the Apple Blossom this year. I was there when the gates poened and rushed to the rail to stand right in front of the finish line so i could get a great view of you!! It was an amazing experience. I will miss you and hope to see you in KY next year. Can’t make it there Monday, have to work. Can’t wait for your next post!!

Please make sure they take VERY good care of Zenyatta in Kentucky. It will be hard for her to leave the people she has attachments to…
What are the “sock” for that Zenyatta always wears?
I wanted to see her really bad, but it is a long drive from San Francisco, and I thought there would be so many people, I might not get to see her anyway. She is so beautiful!
Misty
I absolutely love how the Zenyatta team keep us, the fans, included in her life. I feel like I know this horse so well. I would so love to be next to her just one time. I drove 7 hours to see her last race and cried uncontrollably when she lost, but she really didn’t lose. In fact, she captured more hearts. She really poured it on and just ran out of track. She was a heartbeat away to taking Blame down. I love how her tongue is sticking out in the photo finish. It’s like she’s saying to Blame, “you may have won, but we both know I could kick your butt!” Long live the majestic Queen Zenyatta!!

Hey,Z-girl! You have been busy. What a special occasion that 60 Minutes is doing a follow up! I could tell when that producer was talking about his experience meeting you that he was impressed! He didn’t know much if anything about horses or racing, but you won his heart, it was obvious from his comments in the 60 Minutes Overtime segment. Can’t wait to see that. I know John will be posting more videos and pictures, which we will all treasure…take care, big girl! Hugs!

Love your blue socks. They always look great, Love you,Z!

Hi Zenny: Hey you two look great in that picture. Isn’t that nice that we’ll all be able to take another ride with you. Believe me that is going to be so special! I had lots of fun on the first ride. As I read through the notes from all these wonderful people, I can’t help but feel so envious that they are lucky to be in CA attending your Special Day. I am from NJ and just couldn’t make the trip. But, I am so excited it will be televised. I get ESPN. I sure hope they show your big party event. I am also thrilled to learn that 60 Minutes will cover your departure from CA and your arrival in KY. I will cancel all my plans to be home to watch that coverage. I am going to miss you! I remember watching your first Breeders’ Cup race on TV: The Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic. The announcer said something like here comes Zenyatta prancing up to the gate. We all knew you were very special even back then. I was so fortunate to attend your 18th race. I just got the photographs of that race in the mail. You and Mike look great! I cannot imagine being one of your family members going to the barn the day after and you not there. My heart goes out to them. I sure hope you enjoy the box of ginger snap cookies. Love, Linda
Michelle
Zenyatta, my friends don’t understand how I feel about you but the people on this website “get it”. Before you came along I was all about the colts and didn’t pay much attention to the fillies. Wasn’t I silly??? I just didn’t realize how great the fillies and mares could be. You have changed all that. You are and will always be my favorite race horse of all time!!! You are the best I have ever seen. I am going to miss watching you race so much but hope you have a wonderful life. I hope to come to Lane’s End and see you one day. All the best to you and your team.
Melanie
Zenny, I wish I could come see you one last time on Sunday but unfortunatley can’t make it.Is it possible to visit you at Lane’s End sometime next ear?? I would love to see you in person some time although I wish I could have seen you race. I will miss watching you race with such spirit.<3 Long Live Queen Z <3!!!

Hi Zenyatta, people love and come to see you because what is amazing is YOU! So wonderful that Mario has your pink saddle towel..it will be one of his prized posessions. If I were Mario, I would never wash that saddle towel after you’ve worn it so I could also keep your scent in the towel. Zenyatta, it is 60-Minutes who should feel honored to have you on the show….you should have the WHOLE 60-Minutes! It would be so very special for Steve and all of your fans to watch his ride through the jockey cam. John is some wonderful human to take care of you the way he has and to be so thoughtful of all your fans….what a lucky girl you are to know him. I’m sure John and all your favorite humans will visit you in KY as often as possible. Thanks for the update. Here’s to another big milestone in your amazing life.
