Happy Monday Everyone!
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. It was nice here…and I know it was pretty on the East Coast. California had quite a bit of rain. It is probably their last few days of rain for this season so it is good they had it. It was great weather to enjoy all of the MARCH MADNESS games on TV. The teams have now gone from 64 to 32 and the Sweet Sixteen play next weekend! Good luck to all who have made it to this level!
I just love this photo of my friends from BARN 55 hanging out in MY STALL! There’s my Mario and Steve sending me a big HELLO. They are on each side of the group. Junior, posed in the front, used to walk me and graze me often in the afternoons. Cheva did too. They tried to help Mario out with me and helped to take care of me on his days off. So sweet! Michelle actually took this picture so she is not in it…but sent her regards.
MY BARN 55 Friends keep in very close contact with me. John and Dottie update them all of the time on my well-being. It is great to see their familiar faces again!
YOU will love seeing them as well! With the contest, Dottie and I have decided that my BARN 55 Friends are the ones who will be pulling out the postcards from the containers. So, Mario, Steve, Michelle, Cheva, Frank and my friends are going to be the ones pulling out the LUCKY CARDS for you. John is going to video this and we will post it all from BARN 55.
Dottie is in the process of confirming with the Post Office the address to use. We should have that in the next day or so. We wanted to alert them as to the number of cards that might be submitted. It is getting exciting! Once the address is on the web-site, we will give you a full week to submit the cards. Then the DRAWING of names begins!
We are also confirming with NINA the details of the BRONZE. She said she is sending the first shipment of them out this week to people who have ordered them. What a thrill!
One other important thing is happening later this week. I will be scanned again to be sure everything is A-OK on my 28 day check-up! HOOVES CROSSED!
YOU will be the first to know!
I’m off to play with my paddock pals. They all send you a big HELLO!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

Hi Zenny! Want you to know that I can’t wait to see a picture of you “preggers”!! @Julie Krone How wonderful of you to post here! Welcome!! I must tell you that I have a picture of YOU “preggers” Nine months at that! from Hollywood Park! You were so sweet that day as hot as heck as it was, to pose for me! All dressed in white with a cute white hat!! And look what a sweet joy Lolo turned out to be! I cannot wait to get that picture of our Z “preggers” and have it next to one of my favorite gals! {Dottie and Z and Ann and Julie!} Both “preggers”!!! If I can figure out how to post that picture, I will! You were sooo rolly polly!! You were in such misery that day. But you are right about motherhood, and Z will know too that joy as a “woman” with her first little one! And Z, what can I say? Just that I love you more each and every day!! Karen Long Beach

Dearest, Zenyatta. What a special picture of the Barn 55 crew! Your family is made up of such great people, I’m sure they miss you very, very much. I do hope they keep your stall as it is if they can. I know there must be so many of us who would like to see it one day. I am visiting Secretariat’s birthplace (and Riva Ridge, too) this summer. In fact, his birthday is March 30th and on March 27th they are having a party at “the Meadows”. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BIG RED!! After reading the book “Secretariat’s Meadow”, I really wanted to see this special place in the history of horseracing. We are also going to Saratoga for the racing and the Hall of Fame museum. The anticipation for the contest is growing each day. I found a couple of postcards with beautiful pictures of Colorado, maybe they will bring me luck. I am glad Dottie gave the Post Office fair warning. How fun for the Barn 55 crew to be in on the drawing. I am sure with so many talented and loving fans, the responses will be absolutely beautiful to read. Such a tribute to you Zenny :) What a thrill for all of those that will be receiving their Bronze from Nina this week! I am sure we will hear some great comments on how lovely it is. I have every confidence your ultra sound will be just as it should be and will be awaiting the positive news :) :) Hope you and the girls enjoy your day of paddock play. Kick up your heels while you can, Zenny. (Although I have to admit, I’ve seen some pretty pregnent mares, still kicking up their heels.) Sweet dreams. Hug and kisses. XXXOOO
@AudreyC – The memories you shared of your parents were so beautiful. Thank you so much.
@Shari Voltz – Hi, my friend. Hope everything is great with you!
@DJ and Karen Mitchell – Thank you for the prayer and lovely comments concerning our best friends. Animals give love so freely, expecting little in return. They deserve our greatest care and consideration.
@JSmith – Loved your wish.
@Barbara Wood – You are in my thoughts :)

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
I just saw your video “Zenyatta, Measures Up!” by Nina Kaiser, your Sculptor. It is “TOO SWEET!” How exciting to think that one day the measurements she took might be made into a life-size statue and how wonderful that we are allowed to see the details behind the creation of your little Bronzatta. http://www.equinesculptures.com
What a treat!

If you have trouble google Nina Kaiser Equine Sculpture and it will come up on the home page.

It takes a village to make a great race horse and keep the heart and soul in her. Each and every one of the people pictured in this stall, as well as Michelle taking the picture, had an active role in keeping the heart in Zenyatta. I truly believe she would never have been the horse she was and is now if it wasn’t for these people as well as Don Robinson who was there when she popped into the world and of course, John, Dottie, Jerry and Ann, all of whom had the foresight to let her mature at her own pace and the vision to see what she could become. Let’s don’t leave out the people at the training center in Florida who took such good care of her as well. Wait, oops, there’s David who found her to begin with at the Keeneland sale and saw past the skin fungus to her potential of being a great race mare. One wrong person, one missed step and Z might never have achieved what she did on the track and what she continues to achieve in “retirement”. Officially, she might be retired, but because of the efforts of John, Dottie, Jerry, Ann, David, Sarah and the wonderful folks at Lane’s End, our girl is still there for all of her fans. We are such lucky, lucky people. Because of their efforts. We can share in Z’s life every day. When the time is right, we will be allowed to share in Z as a mom and her baby, be it a colt or filly. “And so it goes, and so it goes…”.

Queen Zenyatta. Great photo of your Barn 55 gang. They all look very good and happy, although they must surely miss you. I am however glad to see that Steve is still working.
I just picked your framed lithograph. You are an incredibly beautiful horse. I am certain that I will get a lot of pleasure from looking at your sweet self in the years to come. Best to you, Zenyatta.

Good Day Queen Mom Zenny…I’m sure you are enjoying the blue grass in your paddock by now. Your friends from Barn 55
look very much at home in your stall. I bet John is saving the stall for baby Z.
The postcard contest sounds like fun, I’m sure you will receive many touching stories. Zen, you have a special way of connecting with people through our friend Dottie. Enjoy your romp in the paddock!

Zenyatta, we should have a virtual baby shower for you. Ok, Foal Shower, whatever. You are so much fun that I know you would go along with this, giving the occasion your special brand of humor. Hooves are crossed for your 28th day scan.

HappyHarriet, they are going to deconstruct the Hollywood Park track, why??
nan
where can your admirers purchase one of
nina statues of you
Kathy Baldwin
DJ, Thanks for the vote for Hollywood Park!
And hey Zen and “Connections”, how about if
they have Tram Tours of your Barn 55 and the
stall you lived in for so many years like
they do at Santa Anita for Seabiscuit? It
might be a good thing for Hollywood Park.:)
Of course, that is, if the Mosses, John and
Dottie and all the rest of the “Connections”
did not mind. Just an idea! ;)

Hello Zeny! What a fun picture of your wonderful friends at Barn 55. I will never forget the first time I went to visit you at the Barn 55. I signed your welcome poster shown in the picture. That was November 17 2010. I had to wait until 3:00 pm to see you that day as I missed your morning schedule. I live about an hour away. That visit was one of the most memorable moments of my life. I was so lucky there were only 3 other ladies that came to see you that afternoon. We had plenty of time to take pictues and enjoy the hour with you. I finally saw you and touched your beautiful neck and face. You were such a lady! Praying everything goes well with your scan. Hugs, MV

Hi Sweet Zen, what a treat for you and us to see the special photo on this post. It’s incredibly sweet. Everyone is excited about writing their post cards for a chance to win the beautiful statue of you, including me! While your statue is being released this week, there’s the auction at http://www.charitybuzz.com of your original Moneigh. If you go to the site, click on auctions, then art and collectibles, and your painting (with your gorgeous hoof print) is on the second page. I’m awfully excited about it! The auction benefits Rerun, and I hope this is a good charity after hearing the reports on some of the others. Does anyone know? I’d appreciate knowing…they seem to be reputable. Well, I’ll cross my hooves on that, AND for a perfect outcome to your scan, Z. Love you, oh yes I do!
Leslie R.
Hi Zenny, that is a lovely pic of your Barn 55 family. Seeing 11 people in your stall makes me realize how big it is. Having your Barn 55 family pull the cards for the contest is a great idea.
Hooves crossed for your 28 day scan!
Love to all,
Leslie

Nan and Kathy Baldwin: Kathy I agree – BUT I am sorry to say, the owners of Hollywood Park now don’t care – plain and simple. They are waiting for the economy to improve and property values to go up so they can attract developers with big $$$ to tear down the track….to build what? More shopping malls and housing…they already have OK from city hall to re-zone Holly Park to such a purpose…so, so sad…such history will be gone. I for one don’t care what people think of the so-called neighborhood, of all the years I have been going there, never had any problems and any other city any where has such problems, but you don’t tear down such a historical site!! It still takes my breath away when I drive in and walk inside! Sure it could be cleaned up a little here and there, make it more modern, but it still is home to so many past and present greats. Wish someone with $$$ could help save it for us. I know I’d help somehow. And it is home to our Zenyatta too, even though she may not be there, it’s still HOME!!!! Maybe it is up to all of us to somehow save Holly Park – since no one really has stepped up to the plate yet. I know horse racing right now is in some trouble, but no reason it can’t and won’t rebound someday. If only media took more interest like they do football, basketball, etc. {even my first love baseball doesn’t get attention like the others} We need more stars like Z to step into the spotlight, but even our Z was almost left behind until it was a tad too late for so many more to have experienced her magnificence!! The media dropped that ball too!! So let’s try to save our Queen’s only home for many more years to come so others can come there and be in that portal where she truly shined. Thanks, Karen Long Beach

Oh, gosh! I meant Bridget and Kathy Baldwin! Sorry! Karen Long Beach

P.S. Sorry again, but remember, our Lakers played right next door to Holly Park too, at the Forum for so many years of history as well!! So, could be a double place for people to want to visit in the future – although, Forum is owned by someone else now. But think what could this all become – with the right promting – who knows! Thanks, Karen Long Beach

I wish we could save Hollywood Park, why do so many people have tunnel vision and why are so many so greedy. It has brought so many good times to so many and the history involved is wonderful. Our beloved Zenyatta’s home.

to Kathy Bladwin – love the idea of tram visits to Zenyatta’s barn. I was THRILLED with my Seabiscuit tram ride on Santa Anita. So many memories. . .
