Good Morning EVERYONE!
I wanted to wish all of you a wonderful ST. PATRICK’S DAY! I understand that this is a FUN day where everyone wears GREEN and eats special types of food. Dottie was telling me that Corned Beef and Cabbage, Irish Soda Bread, and Chocolate Guinness Cake are all part of a very popular dinner for humans on March 17th!
The only part of this that I’ve ever heard about is Guinness!
Being a horse who always wants to be part of the FUN, I asked Charles about how I could celebrate today with my friends. He suggested that I stay with eating GREEN food! Thus, I’m off to go eat my HEALTHY GREEN GRASS! TOO CUTE!
In honor of this fun holiday in MARCH, MARCH MADNESS, the release of my Zenyatta Bronze by Nina, and all of your wonderful kindness, Dottie and I have been thinking of something special we could do. We came up with what we think is a GREAT IDEA! I want to share it with you now.
As you know, March Madness in College Basketball is really getting underway as of today. I mentioned in the last Diary to get your GRIDS / BRACKETS out and follow along. Well, Dottie and I have been thinking of another FUN THING for all of US to do. We want to give the opportunity for one LUCKY FAN TO WIN A ZENYATTA BRONZE. This will be the PRIZE! (I hope you like this idea!)
Here are the guidelines for the CONTEST:
1) So many of you have been so kind to ME and commented OFTEN that I have meant something special to YOU in YOUR LIFE, to RACING, to a FRIEND. You have had so much FUN following all of the different moments in my life.
2) Based upon this thought, I would like for you to write on a postcard in one paragraph…why you feel this way. (Special to YOU, to RACING, to a friend of yours, or an impact I have made in another way.)
3) Please put your thoughts on a postcard.
4) Your NAME, ADDRESS, and PHONE NUMBER must be included on the card.
NEXT WEEK, I will give you the address to mail the postcard or cards to for your participation in the contest. You may send in more than one.
By submitting the card for the Contest, you are also granting permission to ME to use your words in my Diary or anything else I might do in the future.
The cards will all be put into a big container. Then they will be drawn out in a timely fashion (dates will be given on the web-site) in the same type of format as March Madness. 64 cards will be drawn from the entire group. Then from this 64, we will draw the SWEET SIXTEEN….next the ELITE EIGHT CARDS….and ultimately the FINAL 4.
From these 4, we will post the comments on the Web-site, for ALL OF YOU TO SHARE IN WHAT WAS WRITTEN. The WINNER will be selected from the FINAL FOUR cards.
I hope you have fun with this! The mailing address for the postcards is forthcoming!I did want to offer the opportunity to you to have a CHANCE to WIN a Nina Kaiser BRONZE of ME! Your comments about them have been so touching!
I’ll keep you posted on the next step in our contest!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Have a safe and happy St. Patrick’s Day!)

There’s no blar-neigh in you, sweet Zen! Dottie -what a great idea for a contest and I just love that it is “postcard writing” !!!! Mind you, Team Z has already given me the greatest gift of all and beautiful as the statuette is I will be happy to see it won by another.
In Montreal, we have a very large Irish community. We will have a St. Patrick’s Day parade and tonight, the whole of the city will be out wearing green and downing Guiness, Harp, Kilkenny and various other Irish brews. I will be sure to lift a glass to you, Zen and to Dottie, John, David, Steve, Mario, Frank, Charles and the Mosses…..quite a list. It might just be easier to toast Team Z California & Team Z Kentucky!!!! Love you big girl.

to L. S.– thanks for your response. Makes sense. Seems like horses would really like baths (all the scrubbing and rubbing) as much as they would like rolling in the mud!
Theresa
What a great, fun idea! Better warn the postman though – he’ll probably need sacks to put all of the responses in!
Sue Ann Wilson
Too Cute!
Markay
What a great and creative idea…thanks! Oh, love you Z and you’re looking great, as always!
Nancy L
What a fun idea! Especially for those of us who just couldn’t spare the money to buy one. Thank you Team Zenyatta!
Barbara Wood
OH NO! I’ve written it, and I’ll never get it on one card!!
Thanks to all for the lovely Irish blessings.
Still concerned for Catherine Uher. Anyone know anything?
Now I’m off to Amazon…..

Erin Go Bragh! Or maybe for a horse it would be Wearin’ No Bra!

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
Just came home to check on my St. Pat’s meal and it smells delish! Took a moment to read your ‘love letters’ and one name is sounding better and better each time I read it. If your colt is hued as rich and beautifully as you and Bernardini how about “GUINNESS”! And if he has white on his head, all the better…then you can always have your little Guinness with you : )

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and everybody at Lane End and Barn 55!!! Love you Queen Z!!! Hugs and Kisses!! From Roswell,NM

Wow, Big Mama Z! That’s a great idea. I might have to go out and buy a boatload of postcards! Tee hee! Hope you are having a great St. Paddy’s day. Eat that green, green grass of Kentucky. XOXO!

I love to celebrate St. Patricks day with the children in my preschool class and often the leprachauns make them corned beef and cabbage. BUT I have never heard of the Guienness Chocolate Cake…Maybe Dottie could give us the recipie!!
Hugs and a big pat…

Dottie/Zenny you are simply the best!!! What a wonderful thing for you to do for the bloggers/fans of Zenny!!! I am not going to send in a card since my Nina Kaiser bronze of Zenny is already on order, so I won’t be greedy. Although I suppose one can never have enough Zenny sculptures around the house LOL! You are very kind and generous people. As for the Guiness chocolate cake OMGosh!! That sounds sinfully good. However, I am cooking my corned beef in Guiness this weekend on the stove (an old irish recipe)and that will have to do. Happy St. Paddy’s day to you all.

Happy St Pattys day, back to you Zen, enjoy that green green grass, of kentucky, or blue grass but green anyway, and High Hoff to this great idea for a broze stature of the greatest horse in this decade, Keep on Munchin, good for the baby, and I will try for the contest, but like everyone, how do you say it all in one, paragraph, pretty hard, Love the teams, and take care, girl,
Celeste
Another beautiful photo of Queen Z and a delightful diary post as well – what an awesome day. My deep feelings for Zenyatta are going to be hard to reduce to one paragraph to fit on a postcard, but in spite of my wordiness, I will surely try. To follow along on the March Madness and to borrow a phrase – this is just too cute!! Thank you!!

Dear Zeny and Dottie: Happy St. Patrick’s Day to both of you. I am very excited to join the contest. As mentioned earlier – the container will be huge because of all your wonderful fans. But it’s OK. God willing I will be the lucky one. You have inspired me and touched my life – so why stop now. I will drop my postcard when I have the address. Hugs, MV
Barb France
Happy St. Patricks Day…cheers to you and Team Z with a Guiness in hand!! What a wonderful idea! So many cards will be coming your way…thanks for this opportunity!
Lori Stein
What a FUN idea you and Dottie came up with, I’m in for sure. I have so many reasons you have meant so much to me, I guess I’ll have to pick the best one. I hope you and your tiny dancer are eating lots of bananas and enjoying the sunshine. Love Ya, Lori
P.S I don’t always have time to read all the responses people write on this site, so I don’t know if this has already been mentioned, but if anyone is interested in getting to see Rachel Alexandra in person this year Stonestreet Stables is doing something nice for her fans. If you are interested go to stonestreetfarms.com and click on “see Rachel” and it gives all the info. The March 25th sessions are already booked up, but they are planning another day of sessions during the summer if all is well with Rachel. It is first come, first serve. I thought you all may like to know this info. Hopefully one day they can do something similar to this for Big Z and all her many minions(like me)!

Wow Z, what a wonderful idea, but who can express what you mean to us in a few short words? This will take some real planning. I hope you and all your friends are having a marvelous day.
Robyn Mullhausen
Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you Zenyatta. I know you are with child (in foal), but I hope they can at least share a little bit of Guinness with you. :) Your contest idea is so thoughtful of you. It’s been forever since I’ve sent a postcard, I’ll have to go to the Post Office and see if I can buy one there. LOL
Zenny, you and your human family are one in a million! I hope your humans find a HUGE mailbox because you are going to get an avalanch of post cards.
Heidi Kruckenberg
What a splendid idea! Count me in! Zen and your team are the gifts that keep on giving in so many aspects of giving! Truly, amazing! You better be prepared for truck loads of post cards! Love ya, Zen and all of Team Z!
Robbie Pfeufer Kahn
Good afternoon: Could anyone tell me if this contest is a lottery or a selection based on merit?
To Kathryn: Are you suggesting that those of us with resources to share should send the paragraph on behalf of Sheri Voltz Homeroom 215 in Ohio? The sculpture would enrich the lives of her classroom of youngsters now and in the future.
A most generous idea on your part and anyone in a situation comparable to yours ought to consider making this “sacrifice”–a donation that would bring aesthetic awareness and pleasure to school children for years to come.
Please correct me if I misunderstood your message.
darlene
Happy Saint Pattys day Queen Z Love you always.
