HAPPY WEEKEND!
I truly want to THANK all of my fans for the total JOY you have expressed upon finding out that I AM IN FOAL! One fan, Barbara, sent this photo to Dottie yesterday. She took it of ME with her friend, Donna Kruck, 4 days before I left Barn 55! (I think Frank looks great here too. Love his T-shirt!) The encouragement by all of YOU for ME to become a wonderful MOM started so many months ago. I sincerely appreciate your kindness!
I also want to thank the fans who are sending ME my favorite craving of the moment, BANANAS. They are fabulous and very tasty! Charles and Sarah send a big THANK YOU as well. There is no reason now for them to make late night trips to the market to get some for me! YOU GUYS ARE TOO CUTE and so kind! You think of everything!
On another note, my dear jockey, Mikie, is riding some stakes races in Arkansas today. He just called Dottie and wanted to share this bit of news. As he was driving from the Airport to Oaklawn Park, there was a HUGE BILLBOARD of ME…winning last year’s Apple Blossom Handicap. It is on the point where Highway 30 meets Highway 70 on the way to the track. It is titled…WIN CITY, Hot Springs, Arkansas–OAKLAWN PARK! Mike commented that HE and I both look TERRIFIC in the photo! (Blush, Blush!)
I want to wish MIKE great luck with his racing today. Also, I have noticed that 2 of my very dear competitors from last year, Switch and St. Trinians, are both running in the Santa Margarita-Grade 1 at Santa Anita this afternoon. I won this race last year…and wish them both ALL THE BEST! This should be a very exciting contest!
Additionally, several prominent 3 year old stakes are taking place around the country today. I guess I know what I’ll be chatting about with my Lane’s End friends this weekend…GREAT RACING! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
Please don’t forget…set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed tonight! Day-light savings time is here!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(With Special Blessings for our friends in JAPAN)

Dearest Zenyatta,
Hope you remembered to set your clock forward so you wouldn’t miss any paddock meetings with your galpals!
It’s spring here in South Texas and my horses are loving the green grass. I hope the blue grass is sprouting beneath your hooves and the sun is shining down on your beautiful dapples.
Keep baby Z snug and safe and enjoy your week, dear girl!
Hugs and kisses to you,
Stel

Zenny good morning from East Liverpool. It is chilly and cloudy so I hope the sun shines down on you in Kentucky. My class says hi and that we love you very much. Hugs and Kisses from Shari and homeroom 215.XXXOOO
@Dawn thank you. They only had a few questions so far. They are young and some of them talked about local events. We have had flooding in our area. I hope you have a GREAT DAY! God Bless, Shari

Good Morning Zenyatta,
well, just a few lines before my visit to the tooth doctor, I’m not getting my toothies floated, just checked, but you know how it is, your tongue’s leavin’ ne’er to come back. :( :(
Hate it, anyhow the nukes are loose in Japan, and are flying via West Coast. How’s that going to effect the barns & people? I also wonder how the wildlife & domesticated animals reacted before the earthquake? In Japan. I read that right before the tsunami hit in Thailand the wildlife there was heading inland, in an unusual move. I know you’d run for the hills, and take all your barn friends two -4 legged ones with you. Tsunami you can escape but nuke crap ? Anyway this thing is enormous, the aftermath, just know that standing on that Kentucky Blue Grass you & your pals are doing good.
Keep your hooves crossed for a good check-up, and keep eating your oats, nanas etc.

Dear Zen, Love your picture with Donna. You look great in purple!
Bernie has a picture on the internet where he’s in green in celebration of St Patricks Day. Boy, did you ever pick a good looker. Yes, Bernie looks fabulous in green!
How was your weekend? I’m so curious about your love of bananas. I had never considered that, but why not as I think of it. After all, you like apples, pears and carrots! Why not bananas!
Are you missing your regular training gallops? I’m so curious about so many things. I love our budding friendship. Talk with you soon. Hope you’re cozy and happy.

Zenyatta ~ You sound very happy and I am hoping that you never tire of Lanes End. Since you love racing so much maybe they can make an exception and on a year when you are not in foal will allow someone to ride you. Please know how much you are loved.
J Smith
@Charlie Crumpton, just sat down with my morning coffee, and nearly spilled it all over as I was laughing so hard at your thief prognoses. I will do some serious positive thinking to make that happen.
@Ingrid, I am going to try and find you another hat.
Pattie
Please everyone keep “Always a Princess” in your prayers. She had her surgery Saturday Night & is expected to recover, but 2 cracked Sesamoids can still cause complications. I immediately got down on my knees, when “Always a Princess” fell Saturday at Santi Anitia after crossing the finish line and asked God to Please Save Her & protect Martin, her jockey from injury. I also Thanked God for Keeping Zenny safe, all the years she raced and to watch over her throughout her life.
Enjoy your Banannas Beautiful Momma!!

‘When We Dance,’ the title from Sting ‘sal agro’ said might make a good name for ‘Z`s’ foal, we do what every baby knows: we risk balance for a new equilibrium, on a new plane, and maybe not alone. ‘Let`s Face The Music And Dance’ came at a time when the world was bleak for a lot of people, but the alacrity of Fred & Ginger [who did everything he did, only backward and on heels] brightened lives. Zenyatta, doing all she was challenged by so well and full-hearted, is what caught most of us and still holds on. The world shifts out from under us, yet it is the greater accomplishment of mankind to step out to new days. When I tap ‘home,’ on this laptop, the dance skips to ‘z.com,’ where losing your balance just means dancing to a new equilibrium. And often not alone.

To everyone who commented on the Japanese blog link, you’re more than welcome.

There’s really nothing to see in a 15 day scan other than a few mm black round spot, literally.

You seem to really be enjoying all the attention you are getting upon your announcement that you are in foal. I would send you bananas in no time, but I would be afraid that they wouldn’t keep between where I live and Kentucky. You have to eat that stuff really fast before it goes bad. I have enough trouble doing that in my own house-and I’m talking about buying them at the store and eating them within 2-3 days. I’m sure that Mike Smith did well in his Arkansas races. The billboard of you that he saw on the way to the racetrack in Arkansas means that it’s possible that even more people than before will learn about who you are. The more the merrier in a case like this. I am not writing this until the Monday after, but I hope that your old racing competitors did well in their races. Thanks for the reminder of Daylight Savings Time and your wish of luck for people in Japan in light of the tragedy that happened there. The man in the picture does look a lot like Mario. However, a reference is made to someone by the name of Frank and the only 2 others I see in that picture are you and a woman. I am just a bit confused about that. Good Luck!
Tory
I want to see your picture on the Ark. billboard – please! I loved the one in “Dodgertown of “My Town.” YOU looked FABULOUS and I am sure stopped traffic.

@J Smith, that’s OK, I’m happy to have owned the one I had even though it was for such a short time. I bought it during Breeder’s Cup to support The V Foundation (supporting cancer research). It was my one Zenyatta vanity! So not only did my l’il robber tick off the Zen(yatta) Karma, he also snubbed cancer research. I wouldn’t wish cancer on ANYone, so I’m just hoping this person wakes up one morning with a big Z permanently branded on his forehead. Either that,or the shape of a horseshoe!!

Hi Zenny! Oh to be a fly on the wall to listen to you and your crew discuss last weekends stakes races and what’s happening. Though I’m still a racing fan, since you retired, I don’t have the same ethusiasm as I did before. But I’m not ready to stop the races. I almost did when “Always a Princess” broke down. But thank God she was saved, and is now retired. I am so grateful that you are owned and managed by the people you are Zenny. God forbid what could have happened to you with your funny looking, big gangling legged self as a yearling at that sale! But WHAT A MAGNIFICENT CREATURE eventually materialized!!! And thankfully John S. has the patience self discipline as well of love of horses to let you develop naturally. He did good by you and by us!
