HELLO EVERYONE!
I’ve missed YOU!
I guess my guys at the farm could not wait a moment longer…and they scanned me this morning. I just had to share the news with you!
I AM IN FOAL!
This is my 15 day scan! From what I am told, everything looks fabulous and solid. The embryo looks to be a good size. So, at this time, everything is WONDERFUL!
I will be rescanned at about 28 days and if that is all A-OK, my next scan will be at the 40-42 day time period from the date I was bred. As Dottie explained to you earlier, the latter scan is really very important. If all is perfect at that time, then I am pretty well on my way in my pregnancy. This is all so exciting and so new to me! I JUST LOVE IT!
David actually called Dottie at 4:33 this morning (California time) to tell her the news! She immediately ran to the computer to type up the announcement for YOU!
I truly hope you enjoy sharing these moments with ME and going through all of these different stages that I am experiencing in my life.
Hmmm! I just had a thought! Lately, I have been craving BANANAS. It seems like that is all I’ve been thinking about for the last few days! I guess this could explain why. Dottie tells me craving some type of food is very normal for humans while pregnant. Maybe it is for horses like me too! This is TOO CUTE!
Oh my! I better contact BERNIE and let him know the good news! I’m sure he will also be very excited!
WOW! I’M IN FOAL! I’m really embarking upon an entirely new stage of my life and career. As you can imagine, I’M JUMPING FOR JOY!
HOOVES CROSSED for the news on my next scan to be just at POSITIVE!
With Love,
HUGS and Big Kisses to All~
Z
ME…IN FOAL! YIPPEE!
P.S. – This is post #201 to commemorate the second chapter of my life!

Thank you for keeping all of your fans up to date on all that is happening. I see that some folks think that it is silly to cry tears of joy but personally, I see no problem with it. Zenyatta will be missed on the track but we should all rejoice that she left the track sound and is ready to start her new career as a broodmare which, if she was in the “wild” would have starteed years ago. Also, i thinnk that it is important to have something to cheer for in a sport that has seen too many tragedies and also, way too often, neglects the accomplishments of the ladies of the track in favor of the males, who, it isi hoped, will bring in countless millions in stud fees.
So, please enjoy the ride that Team Z is taking us on and be happy that we are hearing POSITIVE things about horses. Congrats again to the future Mom, who will, I’m sure do as great a jopb raising her babies as the job she did on the track. And,again, thanks for taking us all along on the ride.!

Congratulations!! We all pray for safe pregnancy and delivery(foaling ).

Congratulations!! Now, we have a longgggg wait, but what a wonderful gift after the wait. I wonder it if it is a filly or colt? Kind of swayed towards filly. Bananas are good…watermelon is really nice. Our horses love watermelon, their mouths start watering when they see us coming with it. Nice cool treat on a hot day. So happy for Team Zenyatta and for you dear Zenyatta.

Nice poem Mickey. I’ll never forget the confused expression on your face Zen when you realized that you lost the race. And I think that even the winners victory had a tinge of sadness because secretly they hoped you would win; it seemed the other jockey was almost apologetic at his win. It took the people in the world about two weeks to ask, “who won the breeders cup?” You are the most awesome horse in history. I only wish that your retirement had begun on a different note; I hope that you understand your retirement is not punishment. I think you will realize, when your foal is standing by your side, that not racing is not punishment.

Hi Zenyetta, I’m so so happy for you. May God bless you and your baby to be. You are the GREATEST girl in the history of your sport. Both in Racing and personality there has never been a mare like you. Beverly and Jerry

It is so nice to read what other people are writing, and I enjoy all the information that is exchanged. I learn something new almost everyday. Thanks also to John, Team Z and Team LE. Dear RPK: Nothing like ‘ . .. you`ve done this before; just write one true sentence.’ ~ Not a herd, but this afternoon, meeting a few now in connection w/ ‘Shaking Wind Ranch’ http://www.shakingwindranch.com/solutions.html ~ Will know more later. .. . *As you appreciate ranch life, please see also, ‘Bronze Sculpture by Robin Laws . ..’ http://www.robinlaws.com/buddies.htm, is one among many, and, like this one, life-size, internationally collected, sublime ‘stories’ and remarkable character studies. Take good care. Kc.

Beautiful Zenyatta, Even before I read post #201, I knew the number represented the second chapter and knew it meant you were in foal. But how brilliant of Dottie to think of that, she doesn’t make mistakes. I am still so excited over the news and have called everyone I know to share, as if you were my family, but I’d like to think that I am along with all your other loving fans. How long do you think it would take to open 68,000 baby gifts? Hope your day is full of loving thoughts. Much Love To You From Me
mars
Thank you for the photograph of Charles and Zenyatta. Big Beautiful Zenyatta.
I have been thinking… wouldn’t it be powerful is Z’s 68,000 plus fans decided to do good in the world like Z’s team and especially one little blond. What an impact we could have!!! It wouldn’t have to just be related to horsey stuff because obviously this site is so much more encompassing than that. Although don’t get me wrong, horsey is fantastic.
She is our Queen Z and so beautiful.

Regarding FETAL SEXING
.
Mares can be checked rectally by ultrasonagram at about the 60 day point to determine the sex of the foal. After around the 80 day point things change in the uterus making the fetus’s developing genetalia harder to see.
.
I’ll be curious to see if they do fetal sexing on Zenyatta. It’s important for many owners who breed to sell as a filly or colt can make a difference in their plans with the foal. Where Zenyatta’s foal will be kept they don’t really require it, but curiosity may get the better of them ;-)

Congratulations Zenny and Bernie! I guess this is one of those “win and your in”! ha ha (horseracing humor). xo xo

Hope all stays well, but don’t have too many ultrasounds, science isn’t exactly sure if they are safe for unborn babies , and they do have the capacity to produce slight changes in cellular structure, some midwives won’t do them unless absolutely necessary..
Missy
Love you Zenny. So happy for you as a new mama to be.

Dear Zenny,
I just wanted you to know that I voted for your Mom as Broodmare of the Year for 2011. Lots of others have also, as she is leading with over 64% of the votes! As usual, everything and everyone associated with you is a winner! Hope you are feeling well today and that Dottie got a good night’s sleep last night. :)
mary Bobolis
I too just voted for your mother for 2011 Broodmare of the year. She’s leading all with 65% of the vote.

Z . . . I love you very much. I’ve followed your carreer in racing, and now I’m uber excited about this foal. I dream of coming to visit you at your home.
I cannot wait to follow you through your pregnancy and then to follow the sweet foal in its career if he or she should race. Have you been thinking of names?
Heeeeeee, so excited!!!!!!
I love you Zen
