HELLO EVERYONE!
I’ve missed YOU!
I guess my guys at the farm could not wait a moment longer…and they scanned me this morning. I just had to share the news with you!
I AM IN FOAL!
This is my 15 day scan! From what I am told, everything looks fabulous and solid. The embryo looks to be a good size. So, at this time, everything is WONDERFUL!
I will be rescanned at about 28 days and if that is all A-OK, my next scan will be at the 40-42 day time period from the date I was bred. As Dottie explained to you earlier, the latter scan is really very important. If all is perfect at that time, then I am pretty well on my way in my pregnancy. This is all so exciting and so new to me! I JUST LOVE IT!
David actually called Dottie at 4:33 this morning (California time) to tell her the news! She immediately ran to the computer to type up the announcement for YOU!
I truly hope you enjoy sharing these moments with ME and going through all of these different stages that I am experiencing in my life.
Hmmm! I just had a thought! Lately, I have been craving BANANAS. It seems like that is all I’ve been thinking about for the last few days! I guess this could explain why. Dottie tells me craving some type of food is very normal for humans while pregnant. Maybe it is for horses like me too! This is TOO CUTE!
Oh my! I better contact BERNIE and let him know the good news! I’m sure he will also be very excited!
WOW! I’M IN FOAL! I’m really embarking upon an entirely new stage of my life and career. As you can imagine, I’M JUMPING FOR JOY!
HOOVES CROSSED for the news on my next scan to be just at POSITIVE!
With Love,
HUGS and Big Kisses to All~
Z
ME…IN FOAL! YIPPEE!
P.S. – This is post #201 to commemorate the second chapter of my life!

Well, ZENYATTA, here I am, almost grown at the ripe old age of 68 and I’m writing to my own True Heroine…….A HORSE……I am the original Founder of both the Texas and New Mexico Horseracing Halls of Fame and the truth is, you are my own personal “Horse of Fame”…….Many Blessings to you from all of us cannot match the Blessings you bestowed upon us FANS……We are all looking forward to the [Future of the Foal} or, should I say the [FOAL OF THE FUTURE], which, by the way, would be a terrific name for your Baby……Congratulations are in order, for the Past, the Present and the Future…….Thanks for the Memories………….
Cheryl
Hello all of the Zen friends – I know this is off base and that the news about Zen in foal is absolutely overwhelming but I have been reading all this stuff about the awful situation with Life at Ten and NOTHING about how that poor horse is NOW. Does anyone have some insider news on how she is doing? This has really been bothering me and it makes me MAD that no one is showing the public how she is. Thank Heaven for the wonderful Team Zenyatta who actually cares about her and watches over her. I cannot tell you how much it means to me to know that Zenny is being taken care of correctly.

Congratulations to Zenyatta! What great news. I can’t wait to see the next Horse of the Year.

Now, you mustn’t jump too much, remember you have a little one inside. :) :) :)
Well, I am so glad for you, your old team Z, your new team Z, it’ll be great. Eat your nanas, oats & nanas are yum yum, try those. You take care, dear girl, and sleep tight, dreams of mints & carrots for you. <3<3<3

ZENYATTA:…….I had to do this……
Just a few lines about a HORSE…….
And ZENYATTA is the HORSE, of course……
There are other HORSES, I could compare…….
They would be HORSES only, they wouldn’t be a mare……
Lest we forget about her long streak of Winning…….
In the annals of HORSERACING, She’s only beginning……
With all of her winnings, her last race was no loss…….
When she showed up second, she showed’em who’s Boss……
When She ran her races, She never won by many…….
And in the stretch she was never, ever, denied by any…..
When She made her Classic run, coming from behind…….
You saw She’s the Best, or you had to be blind……
I could write much more about ZENYATTA the Queen…….
But She’s the Best Racemare, I’ve ever seen……
She asked me to leave you, with this little note…….
“SHE’S SECOND TO NONE”, and that’s all She wrote……
Thanks for readin, I enjoyed the hell out of that………….

My Dear Sweet Wonderful Zenyatta, YIPPEE!!!!! What a joyful cheer I gave when I saw the fantastic news. I was out most of the day and just now got a chance to read the diary. You and Bernie are expecting a little one. ABSOLUTELY TOO CUTE! Thank you, thank you, thank you to David and Dottie for sharing the news immediately, even if it was so early this morning. There is no end to your boundless generosity. I am so happy for everyone of Team Z. I can imagine that Ann is literally floating and Zenny you are certainly glowing in the picture above. They all have to be so proud and excited. Congratulations to everyone at Lanes End, they must be so happy and looking forward to caring for you each step along the way. Beloved Zenyatta, the outpouring of love in these hundreds of posts in celebration of your fantastic news is overwhelming touching. You captured my heart long ago and the bond only gets stronger. I love you to pieces Zenny! You make such a beautiful mother. Sweet dreams. I am sure there will be more bananas in the morning. Hugs and kisses forever. XXXOOO
Cecile
GREAT NEWS – CONGRATULATIONS! Zen, I am so happy for you, Bernie and all of your Kentucky and California families.
Dani
@Cheryl – Life at Ten is doing great according to a fairly recent article on her. She is still in the Pletcher barn and is back in training, possibly ready to race as soon as April. So not to worry. She is a happy horse doing what she loves to do – run. Fast. :)
Kirk
Great News. In about year we will break out the cigars for your celebration. I hope no one has unreal expectations for that little guy (or girl), it will be difficult to live in your shadow. Really – literally hard to live in your shadow, cause you are so big. Get it?
Barbara Wood
@Mickey Burleson–I would LOVE to meet and talk with you. I bet you are a treasure trove of information. Our (daughter’s ) horse is an Appendix Quarter Horse (“the best of both breeds”) and has great bloodlines on both sides. He is the reason I’ve reverted to my younger horse-crazy days now that I’m 65!
Actually, since Zenny came along, I have the fever more than ever!
I feel so sorry for those who don’t “get it”. We are all so blessed here ot enjoy each other and all of Team Z. It enriches our lives in appreciating one of God’s gifts.
Char
Congrats – so happy for you and all your human connections!
Quarterhossgal
Great news Queen Z, I bet bunches of bananas are already at Lane’s End.
Cheryl: I have read the Life at Ten is back in training. If John S. had been her trainer LAT would have never left the paddock to go to the track. Todd P. said she was way too quiet in the paddock, that was the time to have a vet examine her! He is with the horse every day and when something is off, you check it out with a vet.
Zenny, your news today has made thousands of people very happy and grateful to your Team.
Jan from Georgia
Congratulations, Beautiful One!! I am so excited for you and I know you’ll be a great Mom!!! love you!!!!
Valeria Cannon
Congratulations MiLady, what amazing news and an honor to have scooped the press! Thank you Dottie so much for honoring us with the pleasure of being the first to know! Lady Z you have done some amazing/extraordinary things in your life, now you begin a new chapter, and you graciously allowed us to accompany you, we can’t thank you enough. Tears of joy sprang from my eyes when I read the new post today, ‘Z is going to be a Mommy!!’ I went over to Bernadini’s FB page and he has it posted all over it!!!
He’s just as excited as we are, I wouldn’t be surprised if you recieve a mommy-to-be give from him very soon.
How are the girls doing, are they taking the news well, especially PQ? Tell them we love them, and wish happy news for them too! Did Bernie tell your dad and brothers or did he send over cigars? ;)
What a wonderful day this has been!!!!
Sleep well Lady Z, and I know you well take good care of our little prince/princess. Tell Charles you want lots of bananas and to keep some on hand or he will be getting up in the middle of the night looking for a 7-11. (teee-heee)
Hugs and Kisses,
Valeria

Wow. Great news!!! Dottie was so excited (or so tired) that she labeled the diary entry as 201 instead of 101). I’d be so excited I’d probably label it 1001!!
