YEAH,YEAH, THE GANG’S ALL HERE!!!
I am so happy all of my friends are here and back at the barn. Dr. Dawn Hunkin, who has known me since I first came to CA, just returned from her vacation. She had a great time relaxing and being with her 2 wonderful children and husband each day.
Michelle, my terrific masseuse, returned this morning from her vacation. She and her husband, Ken, also spent time with family and friends…and just taking it easy.
Carmen, Mario’s wife and my morning hotwalker, returned from having a bit of the flu. She is feeling so much better now. The barn is teasing Mario that he had to take care of Carmen…just like he takes care of ME! Very cute! John suggested a few things like Aloe Vera juice for her…just like I get…and it worked. She is feeling like herself once again.
To this day, one of John’s favorite memories was right after I won the El Encino Stakes in January, 2008. He looked over at Mario and Carmen right after I went under the finish line…and they were so excited! He said, they hugged, kissed and held hands rushing off to the Winners’ Circle to get ME! To John, this was such a special moment…one he felt was made more special because the people around me were so happy!
I have lots of ‘stuff’ coming up this week. To be sure I am well rested and relaxed, John has asked that the afternoons be nice and quiet for me. Just a time for me to relax, graze and be quiet. I think this is so special and thoughtful!
Hope to see you at Hollywood Park on December 5th…or in Kentucky at Keeneland on December 6th. Details will follow.
Enjoy your Tuesday!
Hugs to all~

Hi Zenyatta and everyone: I was reading the previous comments and I am sure that if anyone will be watching over Ms Z-it will be John — he has a special bond with her and understanding and that will never be broken. It a gift to have that with an animal– so now–on with the parades and all the fun Zenyatta–dance the day away—love ya, janet cutting
Sally
Zenyatta is one of the greatest, if not THE GREATEST, racehorse of all time. If she is not voted Horse of the Year it will not only be a disappointment, but a tragedy.
Sue Fredrick
Well Lady Z I will be at Keeneland on the 6th will bells on. Just made my hotel reservations, as we are driving down from Wisconsin. Don’t be concerned about the cool weather, it’s good for your lungs and I bet you’ll have a ball after that first snowfall, horses used to love rolling in the snow – and they always came up clean. Can’t wait to see you, hope there aren’t a million professional photographers there like at the breeder cup, we couldn’t get a decent picture. Safe journey! Luv
Cheryl Heath
It’s a sad and a happy time for Team Zenyatta and from all the posts so many people love you so much, you will always be with us. I was at Churchill Downs in November and plan to see you one more time in Lexington at Keeneland. Happy parties and safe travels.
Mary Stanford
I hope I can make it to Lexington one day to see you. I live in Virginia so easier to get there than CA. Love the daily posts…and hope I can see the Dec 5 go away event if on TV…not sure the station…but will watch for more info on this. Love you Zenyatta!!I just told my son that I want a Zenyatta T-shirt for Christmas…I am 63…so all ages are loving you.
Jennifer Adelman
Dear Zenyatta, So glad that Carmen is better so Mario can have easier days. Your team of care takers are the best and make us confidant that your still the queen and treated as such.
I can’t get away from work for your Dec 5th celebration so I’ll have to wait till visiting is allowed in KY.
I hope Barbara Livingston has some photo’s for sale soon.
Best to you Zinny and team!!

Hi Zenny: I really enjoy reading your posts each day. I really hope you continue your dairy once you get to KY. On another note, I agree with Sally. You should definitely be Horse of the Year. After all the racing records you have broken and getting all of us fans out to the track. You deserve it. By the way, I sent you a care package. You should be receiving it tomorrow. Oh, and the Special Zenyatta Commemorative section that appeared in “The Blood-Horse” was outstanding! You’re the greatest! Love you!
Tom
Zenyatta is nothing but a defeated loser.
Tom

Grandma Bea Gobee
My gost Ms. Z, I actually begin to believe you are really talking to us. I look forward to hearing from you every day. So glad for your festivities next week. Wish I could be there but I live on the other side of the country. It was a trip going to the Breeders Cup to see you, but was so glad that I did. You have a wonderful time next week & enjoy everything about you. You are the best. I will be reading everything good about you those two wonderful days. Have a safe plane trip to Kentucky.
Ellie Hamblen
I will be at H. Park the 5th- So sad to see Z go, but for each of us sorry to see her leave, I am noticing there is another happy to be greeting her in Ky! Hey KY. fans- be there to give Queen Z a proper arrival. Y’all will have to keep up the good fan work for us here in Cali. We’re passing the torch! ps- We want pictures!!
Ellie Hamblen
Oh, I just noticed Tom’s post. Everyone please ignore him. There’s one in every crowd, and everyone has one;)
Cheryl Hurley
Hello Zen Girl! Are you going to have your friends tending you in Kentucky?? I am so worried that you will be surrounded with strangers in a strange place. Please tell John and the Moss’s to make sure your regular staff stays with you to make sure you are taken care of correctly.
Cheryl Hurley
WOW I just saw what that Tom wrote. Some humans just have to make …lets call it mules…out of themselves don’t they, pretty lady? Never you mind about people like that. They just don’t get it or see what you are really all about.

Dear Queen Zenyatta — what a thrill for me to visit you today at Barn 55 with other assorted fans. You had us all in the grip of your hoof and you were so generous with all the posing time for photos. It was such a thrill to watch Carmen hotwalk you, and then help Mario with your bath. Steve was so great in providing info and answering everyone’s questions. I’ve seen all of your races except for 5 in person and pracing around the paddock before hitting the track, but I’ll never forget this upclose and personal time this morning. When you looked me directly in the eye I felt the power of your extraordinary soul! The genuine camaraderie felt by all of us was overwhelming and the heartfelt emotion was an amazing experience! Here’s to the next exciting chapter in your wonderful life!!
Wendy Parrish
Why is “Tom” posting here? The world has enough anger, hatred, bitterness, pain, poverty etc. without him chiming in with unwelcome negativity. Zenyatta is a beautiful and much needed diversion from it all.
Gail Human
Hi, Zenyatta, Just a little note to let you know You were thought of today and we even talked about you where I work. I wish you the best in the coming days and please keep us posted about how life is treating you. You are such a sweetie and I can’t imagine not reading your diary posts everyday. I love you, pretty girl!

Jackie
Hello Queen “Z” couldn’t wait to get home from work to read your most recent post and see what the day brought for you. I am so sad to see you go, I can only imagine the void your connections will have when you are gone. I recall reading an article where Ms. Moss wanted to take you to their home. Not a bad idea. Nice weather, familiar surroundings and most important people who truly care about your well being and love you so……….much! I hope and pray you will be well taken care of at Lane’s End. You and your connections deserve HORSE OF THE YEAR! In-fact, I think a special award should be given to Mr. & Mrs Moss for bringing you back in 2010. You have brought so much to the sport! You are one Classy Lady!
Hugs and Kisses!
Robin
Everyone – KEEP CONTACTING LANE’s END to let them know that we want to keep the love flowing to Zenyatta in her retirement. It will be a big adjustment for her, and she will love to receive all of the positive attention from lots of visitors who are now excited about racing – all because of her. What a gift she is to us!
sue
It’s amazing how much these posts “seem” to be exactly like the personality I imagine our Queen Z to have. Is it amorphosizing (forgetting the term), but Zenyatta you’ve meant the world to me these past 3 years, and I will feel guilty if I ever “love” another horse as much as I have loved you all this time. I cannot imagine any horse having all the perfect qualities you’ve had, I just can’t. You deserve any/every bit of rest, joy, peace, happiness, love you get. You’ve given us your all…..you certainly have….
Robin
Hi pretty girl!! I will see you on Sunday Z.. I wouldn’t miss it for anything. It will be a tough day as well, because I know once you go to Kentucky I won’t see you again. Thank you for everything you have done and given. I love you Z!!!! XOXO
Heather MacMullen
I know I am going to come off sounding like a 12-year-old (I’m 46), but I think you should put a life size cardboard cutout of yourself in your stall with a motion detector attached to it so every time someone walks by, it plays a recording of your nicker. I’m sure Mr. Moss could get state-of-the-art equipment to do it. Zenyatta 2.0 could never replace you but hearing your sweet hello everyday might help. I told you I’m a 12-year-old. You’re thinking about it aren’t you. Yes you are, don’t try to deny it. Who knows, it might just work. See you Sunday!!!
Lisa Aviani
I get a pit in my stomach just thinking about you leaving CA. I still can’t believe I won’t see you run again. I hope you aren’t perpetually pregnant in Kentucky. I love my two little girls more than life itself, but being pregnant year after year is not my idea of a reward for working so hard on the track for us. I trust that your wonderful connections will do right by you. :) I’ll miss you Big Girl.
Valerie Chase
Zenny, I know this sounds so silly, well not to me and probably many more of your fans, but when a new post pops up from you I can’t wait to read it and see what’s up in your day. Isn’t this an amazing road you’ve taken us on? The story you’ve told today about John and Mario and Carmen is a perfect example of all the heartwarming stories that will be told for so many years to come. So looking forward to hearing more Z! Can’t wait to see you Sunday, but its going to be such a melancholy day. At least I know I won’t be alone shedding happy and sad tears both. I hope your family will let you keep sharing your days with us – don’t know more generous and caring folks than the Moss’, the Shireff’s and everyone else that’s been caring for you. Love love love you Z!!!
P.S. – hope that life size cardboard thing comes to be – I would definitely have one in my barn!!!! Nite Zenny! :)

Well, I guess I will add to the multitude of comments.. Zenyatta, I have a picture of you schooling in the paddock & saddling barn at Santa Anita. It was the Wednesday before your 2008 Distaff win.
It sits here in front of me at my desk. I have watched you since you broke your maiden on Thanksgiving Day 2007 ( my B-day) saw it on Calracing.com…I have followed you since. But seeing you in person at Santa Anita (with your groom Mario) that day was simply breathtaking. I was truly stunned by your size & gentle demeanor, and truly was hooked then and there.. Thank you for the extrodinary ride you have taken us on. I am truly blessed to have seen such perfection in racing, that I truly belive I will never see again. And to the Moss’s and all who have loved and cared for you..Thank You.
Zenyatta ..You will be missed. Have fun being a Momma! BTW, have YOU decided who the lucky guy will be, eh?
