YEAH,YEAH, THE GANG’S ALL HERE!!!
I am so happy all of my friends are here and back at the barn. Dr. Dawn Hunkin, who has known me since I first came to CA, just returned from her vacation. She had a great time relaxing and being with her 2 wonderful children and husband each day.
Michelle, my terrific masseuse, returned this morning from her vacation. She and her husband, Ken, also spent time with family and friends…and just taking it easy.
Carmen, Mario’s wife and my morning hotwalker, returned from having a bit of the flu. She is feeling so much better now. The barn is teasing Mario that he had to take care of Carmen…just like he takes care of ME! Very cute! John suggested a few things like Aloe Vera juice for her…just like I get…and it worked. She is feeling like herself once again.
To this day, one of John’s favorite memories was right after I won the El Encino Stakes in January, 2008. He looked over at Mario and Carmen right after I went under the finish line…and they were so excited! He said, they hugged, kissed and held hands rushing off to the Winners’ Circle to get ME! To John, this was such a special moment…one he felt was made more special because the people around me were so happy!
I have lots of ‘stuff’ coming up this week. To be sure I am well rested and relaxed, John has asked that the afternoons be nice and quiet for me. Just a time for me to relax, graze and be quiet. I think this is so special and thoughtful!
Hope to see you at Hollywood Park on December 5th…or in Kentucky at Keeneland on December 6th. Details will follow.
Enjoy your Tuesday!
Hugs to all~
Z

Poor John and others at the barn. I don’t know how I would handle seeing your empty stall Zenny. I guess I would just have to remind myself you are happy in Kentucky…
Christine Coleman
Zenny, ask Jerry and Ann if they would consider a web cam in Kentucky so we can see you and get our doses of Zenyatta Seratonin!!!!

Maria
It’s so sad to think that your departure day is getting closer and closer. Your fans here in California will miss you so much. I love you Queen Z!!!

Hi Zenyatta, I glad to hear that Mario and his wife are feeling better. It sounds like your team had a nice restful time off, but I’m glad they’re all back with you and making sure your are taken care of. Hail to Queen Z, Love you.
Leslie
Awwww Z, you are the best horse EVER!! You talk more than even Mr. Ed and I LOVE IT! You are so kind to keep us all informed. I love hearing your stories and about all the things that happen in your day, in your plans and fun, sweet past stories that you told us today about Mario and Carmen. You have the coolest people to take care of you!!!
One question…. where can I see the pictures of your Moneigh?

Dear beautiful Zenyatta, Isn’t it strange how life takes its turns. You began this magical trip at Keeneland in 2005 and now you return to Keeneland in 2010 to begin another magical phase. Oh dear one, please stay happy and healthy and grace this earth with beautiful Zenyatta duplicates. I’m glad all your family is at the barn for you and brilliant you must know something big is happening. Many thanks again to your keepers for allowing us to remain close to you. The tears flow again.
Peggy
From the comments by the Lane’s End folks, it seems Zenyatta will be very limited in company and days or hours when anyone can come see her. I understand that. They can’t run a farm and a zoo at the same time. It’s odd how Three Chimneys seemed to handle it all, with people coming to see Seattle Slew, Smarty Jones … and Big Brown now. They are even throwing a party so Smarty’s fans can wish him well as he goes to Pennsylvania. Different approaches for different people, I guess. Big Brown would be a perfect match for Queen Z, anyway. Hoping she comes back to California after she’s bred. Why stay there in the cold, wet and snow? She’s earned $7 million so I guess she could stand around in the sun or under a shade tree if she wanted!

My Lady Z your blog makes us all feel closer to you we so enjoy hearing about your days. We want to come see you in Kentucky. Have a great week. Hugs and kisses

Kenyatta, you’ll just love Kentucky. They don’t call it the Blue Grass state for nothing. All hilly and green. I love reading your daily “news”. I hope they continue so we can keep up on your daily adventures.
Zen-Fan
A question for Peggy-where did you read limited access to “Z” at Lane’s End? It will be very sad for all if the door just gets closed so to speak.
Zenyatta-I know you will love grazing on the blue grass & seeing your fellow horse friends. I know that I read in an earlier diary post, one of your fans was worried about the separation…please stay well sweetheart & remember we love you dearly!
Does anyone know what Lane’s End has planned for visitation & Dottie…are you going to keep up with your posts?
Thanks
Fran
Z how neat it is that everyone is back to spend time with you before you leave for Kentucky. You are such a lucky girl. Try to keep your human family’s spirits up during the time you have left with them. As excited as you are to go to your new home in Kentucky, it is going to be really hard for everyone to see you leave. Thank goodness they will be able to go with you to your new home-to make sure you are settled in and happy. Love you Z!
Ann Maree
Hey, sweet girl, It sounds like everyone is gathering for your farewell parties in CA. I love hearing the stories that all your wonderful Team Zenyatta tell….Hope someone will put together a “memory book” or “memory DVD” to give to everyone, and one to take with you to Kentucky. Nearly everything you have done and accomplished are recorded somewhere, but it would be nice to make a very version with personal stories of their time with you and with each other. Stay cool….rest up, as you have a busy weekend for sure! Hugs!
Elaine
Your California family and fans love you so much! Why don’t you come back and have your babies in California? It would be great for Cal racing to have a California foul from you!
Quarterhossgal
Great idea to have a book about Z. At least until the movie is made. Sounds like Z will have a busy week end, first Hollywood, then in Lexington. You’re quite a girl, after a long flight you still want to see all your fans in Kentucky. Rest up special lady you’ll have thousands of people saying God Speed to you. I would love to have Mario and Carman stay with Z in Kentucky for at least a few weeks to get her settled. How about it Mr. and Mrs. Moss? Queen Z deserves it!!
ashley

Zenyatta’s fans, I emailed Lane’s End this morning inquiring about visiting schedules and received a reply from them that they will let the public know when visiting plans are complete. All I can advise is checking on Lane’s End website every day to see what is posted. That’s what I’m doing because I must see this incredible being named Zenyatta and hopefully give her a kiss and hug.

I can’t wait…I just may have to take off and go now…wasn’t sure I could get back at a reasonable time but soon as you post the plans I’ll know if I can work it out!!! Hi Zen, I’m glad you will be enjoying some quiet time. Everyone needs that. I’m still hoping to make it on the 5th but please forgive me if I’m crying. I’m very pleased that you retired sound and happy but I’m really going to miss you. Please stay in touch after you move and don’t forget your pretty blankets! It is a lot colder in Kentucky than Southern California.
Love,
Leslie

What a continued joy to read these daily diary posts. I am so glad that your life is filled with such love and great care. You are truly a phenom and your team is phenominal. I am one of thousands of your adoring, grateful fans and feel very priviledged to have witnessed your evolution to super stardom.

Zenyatta! I am coming to say goodbye on Sunday. I didn’t think it was possible as I have to be in Greeley, CO Monday morning to work. (I live in California too). Last night God spoke to me and said GO! If you don’t you will regret it the rest of your life. It will be so wonderful to share the day with other fans and to see you one more time. Reno-Los Angeles-Denver works for me.
Sleep is highly overrated anyway.

Can’t wait to get the details, of your arrival in Lexington Z!! That’s one date I can make! See you soon pretty girl!
Jeanine Coogle
I do hope they televise your going away party on Sunday or post it on You Tube. I live in Nebraska so it would be quite the road trip. I do hope one day to make a visit to Lanes End. Please keep up the posts and thanks to your team for all that they do for you and your fans!!!

Am sure your California Family is going to feel a very large void this Christmas but knowing you will be happy in your new career should make us all happy. Motherhood is a pretty fine thing as well. Safe travels on Monday and hope that Lanes End keeps us posted when we can come and see you again.
Lori Koellner
ZENYATTA, I am so glad everyone is doing fine. I hope you enjoy your afternoons grazing and relaxing after all you DESERVE it. Your HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY! I LOVE YOU QUEEN Z Love Lori XOXO…

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, I am so happy John planned some quality time for you to rest before your Big Party. That is so important for you. I think it is wonderful how your family takes care of you. I wish Carmen & Mario could go with you to Land’s End. I worry that they might not take care of you the way Mario, Carmen & Team Z does. I know it’s going to be a very big adjustment for you leaving so many people that love you and have watched after you as a superstar and I pray they treat you the same in Ky. I know you would miss the attention you get now. I wish I could see you in Calf. I’m here in Alabama so I plan to see you someday in Kentucky. Zenyatta, you are so special to me. It’s been such a Blessing to see you race & dance. The memories you have given me I can relive over & over and they bring such sweet joy. I pray you have a safe and wonderful party and that you have a safe flight to Kentucky. After such an outstnading racing career, I hope you have just as a wonderful retirement, I know it will be work being a mom but you’ll do a fabulous job at that too. Please keep your fans updated from Land’s End. I can’t imagine not hearing from you and how you are doing. Lady Zenyatta, there’s not another horse in the world like you that is the total package. God created one of a kind when He made you. I wish I could just give you one big hug and a kiss and tell you how special you are to me. I love you, Zenyatta!
Love, Amanda

Reading your diary is the best part of my day! Can’t wait to see who Mr. Lucky will be. I’m not sure there’s a guy big enough to fill those shoes. Take your warm jammies with you to Kentucky. Ask them to put a cool looking slinky under them.
Best wishes from Texas.
Gina
Does anyone know how long Zenyatta will be in Kentucky, is it for all her breeding years, is it forever? How often will they breed her, will she be able to be with her foals or will they be taken away from her?
I sure hope Lane’s End allows visitors and we definitely want to go see her and hopefully give and receive hugs!!
All you CA folks enjoy Z’s time while you have it, can’t imagine how difficult it will be to say goodbye. Will you all go visit or is it better to have a clean break?
