Good Morning,
It is beautiful, crisp and clear in Inglewood this morning. We had a touch of rain…but nothing much to speak of last night.
Yesterday was amazing! I had over 100 visitors in the morning. Everyone was so kind. They came bringing all kinds of great goodies for me and the barn. There was an adorable carrot cake (heard it was tasty) wishing me good luck, lots of candy, homemade oatmeal cookies and more! Wow! My friends at the barn are eating up a storm!
One man who visited was in Vietnam the same time as John. It was very sweet to see them speaking together. Lots of memories…for sure. The day before a woman and her daughter flew in to see me from Minnesota. I gather the daughter (in her early 30′s) is having a ‘very serious surgery’ next week…from what the Mother told John. The girl’s wish was to come and see me before this happened. I can’t tell you how special this makes me feel. I will be thinking of her next week…sending her lots of hugs, warm hugs and sincere wishes for a speedy recovery.
The officials from Hollywood Park also stopped by to work with John on my ZENYATTA APPRECIATION DAY next December 5th. Sounds like fun! Not sure of all of the details yet…but I’LL BE READY!!!!
John and Mario will be sure my ‘hair and make-up’ is perfect! Wardrobe is also important. If it is a bit chilly, I do have a lovely closet full of blankets!
I’ll keep you posted on all of the further details.
Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!
Hugs to all~
With love,
Z

Everyone now knows how special you are. You and Mike did really well in your last race. We all know who the best horse was that day and no one will ever forget what you’ve done for the sport. In the sport of Kings, the Queen reigns. Looking forward to your babies and hopefully the Moss’ and John Shireffs gets to campaign and train some of them. You know how well they’ll be taken care of.
Thanks to your owners, Jerry and Ann, for letting us enjoy you racing. Your trainer, who did everything possible to make sure you’re healthy and sound and unbeaten. And not to forget Mike, you two are champs! There will never ever be one like you, your charisma and your love for your fans are one for the ages. Take care and enjoy the new crib! :)

love the posts! please keep them coming! got my Zenyatta “throw”, my Zenyatta calendar, my Zenyatta special edition magazine and, soon, my Zenyatta ornament. PLUS a train ticket to Hollywood Park for the party!! I was in the stands at Santa Anita for the BC Classic 09, the most exciting sporting event I have witnessed. It will be a heartbreak to see her say “so long” to racing, but whatever is best for Zenyatta, that’s what I wish.

Thank you Dottie, John, Carmen, Mario,Steve, Ann and Jerry. Thank you for your warmth, kindness, sharing, perception and love.
While I have been priviledged to see the Queen race and came to her day at Hollywood Park last year, I was never so moved as when I saw her up close in your barn and barn area last Tuesday 11-23-10.
It was truly a life altering experience! Dr. Mary Copelin

I wish I could be at your party on December 5, but I can’t drive down from Fresno to see you again….I have to play two concerts that day myself. I’ll be thinking of you. My sister will be there to represent our family and taking lots of pictures. We all love you so much. Thanks for all the updates. We will miss you in California…..sure wish you could stay with us!
Michelle
I’m so sad – I called Hollywood Park last Friday to see if I could visit and was told visitors were no longer allowed. I thought that was odd but I’m glad you had a big crowd.

Dottie is such a good “secretary” in dictating your thoughts! She has you down pat!! Zenny..I have met soooo many people with similar stories like the mother/daughter you met today there could be a book written on all of us. She is not alone with her wish and I’ll say a prayer for her. Zenny…your eyes are very special…they have a “zen” in them that is mesmerizing, comforting, all knowing…I believe God knew what he was creating when he made you and also all those who surround you. I bet she felt this looking in your eyes. Enjoy all those “gifts” and keep paying your “secretary” in golden carrots and maybe share a Guiness with her! See ya soon!

Sondre
Z you and Dottie are sure busy gals keeping your fans updated, but we all really appreciate the effort. Wish I could attend the event for you on the 5th, but hopefully, it will be televised. Wishing you the best possible retirement and hope they have your stall at Lane’s End decked out for the holidays, along with a welcome party for you! After all, this is no shy violet coming to stay – this is Zenyatta, the people’s horse. (-: Big hugs, Z-Girl!
Amanda

Yes!!! I echo everyone else who asked about the television coverage for the 12/5 celebration. Please let us know if that comes to pass. The nation would LOVE it!
Crystal R. Hollands
Couldn’t you stay until after Christmas?
I hate to say goodbye.
William

Michelle – when you call Hollywood Park- ask to speak with the stables and they will let you know what the visit hours are…don’t give up, I finally got to see her last week and I am sooo happy I did. Zenyatta has amazing patience and just seemed to love taking pixs with her fans. I am very sad she will leave California but I’m sure she will love the bluegrass pastures of Kentucky. Love you Zen!!!

Thanks so much for the daily posts from Zenyatta – hearing from her in KY might help some of the severe withdrawal we will all be facing.
A special thanks to John, Steve, Mario and all of the crew for endulging all of us who have visited the barn over the last few weeks. It is an experience of a lifetime for us but I know it has been quite an interruption to the daily routine for all of them. I sincerely appreciate their giving of their time.
And Zen – did you hear your name mentioned on the Sunday night football game tonight? The announcer said that San Diego starts their season like Zenyatta starts a race (meaning slow and coming from behind). Now they have won 4 in a row so looks like they are trying to finish like you too!
Look forward to seeing you next Sunday….

I won’t be able to go to HP on December 5 but I hope it will be telecast live. Zenny, I dread the day when you finally leave us for a new life in KY. Please keep your fans posted with the help of Lane’s End staff. Thanks Dottie for keeping Zenny’s posts interesting, informative and fun.
Zenny, thank you for touching so may people’s lives like the lady and her daughter from Minnesota. And thank you for being so nice and patient with your visitors. I wish you much love, happiness and good health.
Kay Morris
Zenny, you are the most amazing creature I have ever seen, on the race track or off. I hope you love your retirement in Kentucky, but I and so many others will miss you so much! Know you are in my heart and in my prayers and thank you so much for your heart stopping finishes!
Vickie
Hope you are warm tonight! COLD here – I am looking forward to Dec 5th with mixed emotions! Happy to see you and very very sad to see you leave California. I have watched you since you won your maiden 4 years ago…. your second race and I was a FAN – you rock!
Lenka
Dear Zenyatta, you are superstar for us – in Czech Republic. Thank you, Mike and all team Z. Happy all next days.
Annette Reynar
Dear Z, we here in Canada (Toronto) would have loved the opportunity to see you at our lovely track known as Woodbine, its as pretty as you are!
Have a happy retirement and make beautiful babies :)
Carolyn Caswell-Brown
Hi beautifulgirl..Glad to hear you are still the center of the universe for many. A quick question – Are you still being ridden or jogged daily & do you enjoy “a social ride”? Will this be part of your future or does riding not fit into the life of a broodmare? I used to see pics & info on Seattle Slew that said he was ridden almost everyday for quite awhile into his retirement. Thanks for staying in touch. Hugs & Carrots

LOL@ “Lovely closet full of blankets” Zenny you are a crack up! It feels good to know you care about folks who are undergoing serious hardship and find solace in you. My own horses do that for me too! They don’t have closets full of blankets, but I know if you lived nearby, you would give them all the ones you don’t wear. (We’d have to do some serious alterling though! The tallest horse I have is an off track TB “only” 16 hh! LOL Love you Zenny!!!

Beautiful, perfect Zenyatta, Can you believe people are traveling from all over the world to visit you on 12/5. How fitting for a person of your stature. I know you will look impeccable and give us the show of shows. Thank you Dottie for keeping us up to date on the love of our life.

hi, Zenny, have followed your success since the beginning. You are so beautiful and you have the kindest eyes! I have wanted to meet you so much so when you come to Kentucky I intend to see you. I live in Virginia. I hope you will be happy in Kentucky and I look forward to seeing you with great anticipation. Love, marcia

Zenyatta, I check your post everyday before I read my own email. Think you are the greatest. I admire your connections, hope other owners and trainers learn the importance of keeping a horse happy.
