PARTY, PARTY!
Good Morning everyone!
Ann and Jerry want to have a BARN PARTY for all of the people at the Shirreffs’ Barn who have worked so hard to help ME BE ME during the past 4 1/2 years. We are in the planning stages now. Such fun! I’ve got some great ideas, but I need a bit of help in organizing it from my friends at the barn.
Dottie is helping to do the invitations. John spoke with Debby, who does wonderful catering work, about the menus. I really need help with this as I am not too experienced with PEOPLE FOOD. If they left this part up to me…it would be sweet potatoes, carrots, apples and peppermints for all. I think Ann and Jerry want to have a much more expanded menu than this for all of my friends.
So, Debby gave us sample menus. John asked the barn to decide on what the menu should be. This party is for THEM…so they get to help me with the planning. We are a TEAM, you know! Isabelle, Frankie and Jenny have helped to narrow it down to 3 options…and now Jenny is reviewing these choices with all of my barn friends. It will be interesting to see what they choose!
This is so much fun. We are finalizing the time for the party. Ann and Jerry want all family members included…so John said we have to have the party at a time when each of his staff can go get their whole family and bring them to the celebration.
We are having a great time planning this. I am having so much fun sharing and celebrating with all of my barn friends. We’ll keep you posted on what they decide.
Too cute!
Warm hugs to all~
With love,
Z

Oh, Zenny, I am glad you and all your Team are going to have a special time together….I know of only a few of those who helped make your career so much fun for you and for them, too. I’m sure everyone involved can’t believe you are actually going to be moving on to the next phase of your life, far away from Hollywood Park and Barn 55. I’m sure there will be many tears of gratitude from them and from you for all the wonderful moments you have all had. I’m having such a hard time myself and I’ve only known about you for the past year. I have lots of videos, lots of photos, and I have your pretty face as my computer “wallpaper” on three computers!!You are so special, girl, and as several people in the industry have said, you are the horse of a lifetime…of 4 lifetimes! Hope someone will take lots of photos, and will film all your going away parties so we can share in the festivities. Keep cool. Big hugs!

have a great time!!!!! Zenyatta, has anyone told you what an excellent writer you are? I love your diary entries…so newsy, so you, and so perfectly punctuated…I appreciate you letting us all know the day to day events in your life…I was showing off some photos of you today at the horse rescue where I am a volunteer in Denver…you have fans everywhere!!
Nancy
Hope you have a great time at your party. Maybe they will take the cotton out of your ears so you can hear the music!!

Zenyatta your party sounds GREAT!!!. All the people around you are so special. I know that all of us will be there in spirit. Thoughts of you cross my mind all the time. I was in Sam’s Club today and saw the cutest rocking horse. I told my husband we should get one and name it Zenyatta. I also hope to visit you in Kentucky in 2011. Just remember you will be loved no matter where you go. I would love to have you come over for a visit but my backyard is not big enough(ha-ha). Take care and keep us posted. Much love, Shari from OHIO

That is really cool! A nice party for all people that helped you. Are you getting Guiness for the party? I love you Zennie. I will see you on December 5th.

Party Hearty and have a great time.
Don’t forget the Guinness.
Cheers to you and all your friends and
family.

Lovely PR posts, Dottie, but why don’t you mention the fact that the feature story on DRF is on how Zenyatta wanted to get out to jog and run on the Hollywood back track and in fact did so? How her friend John said she wanted to do more than was asked of her? Zenyatta is a stellar racehorse. You can take the horse out of the race – but you can’t take the race out of the girl. Maybe Z is not ready to be a brood mare yet. Please think about that if you truly care about her.
Celeste
I cannot imagine anything much more fun than a barn party with Zenyatta and the whole team of family and friends. Everyone has done such an amazing, wonderful job and this far away fan is deeply grateful.

Enjoy the party with your barn family and friends, Zenny! The rest of us will be with you all in spirit, so the barn should be FULL of love and happiness! Just don’t eat too much people food — stick to the fruits and veggies (although a few peppermints won’t hurt you; hope you liked the candy canes I brought to John!).

Great! You and your team have earned a huge party! I am really hoping that you will continue this blog in the future so that we all know how our Zenny is doing. After all, you are “The People’s Horse” and always will be!!! My husband and I will try to visit you in Kentucky one day. Wish we could be in California on the 5th, but we can’t. :(

Robbie
How wonderful! Team Zenyatta deserves a wonderful celebration after all of their hard work and dedication. Enjoy!!
Jenn
What a awesome thing to do for your family!!! All your fans are missing you already and feeling the hole you are going to leave. Your family, is going to feel that 1000 times worse. You are so lucky to have so many people, who love you with everything they have…True Horsemen they are…the few and far between! We were all fortunate, that they shared you so openly with all of us, and allowed us into your barn, your heart and your soul. There will never be another Zenyatta, but we can all bet safely on the fact, that as long as John is still around, the public will be able to see the heart of the great Thoroughbred. The sport needs to see more of this. Enjoy your time left with your family, cherish them…you were theirs first, and will always be number 1 in each and every one of their hearts!
Leslie
Zenyatta, it sounds like you are going to have a great party. Planning is half the fun. Just don’t forget the Guinness!
I hope someone takes some pictures and posts them here. It is nice of Ann and Jerry to do this. They are a class act just like you! I hope everyone has a fabulous time – you all deserve it!
Love,
Leslie

Actually, I think the menu Zenyatta prefers is perfect. After all, she is an herbivore, and many people, myself included, are vegetarians. One could add a vegetable laden macaroni salad, a sweet potato casserole, olives, bread, crisp varied green lettuces, and arugula, with a wonderful olive oil vinigrette, stuffed grape leaves, puffed potato pastries, pumpkin bread, ginger cookies…what could be better than that? …and what could be healthier, as well as a menu of which, I am sure, Queen Z would approve…..after all, Zenyatta could be considered prime eating in France- cheval tartar, and I am sure she would extend the kindness to all animals, as we know, have minds and feelings…..just my input…
RuKi
Dear Queen Z: I think your selection of food would be perfect! Apple pie, Waldorf salad with apples and carrots, sweet potato chips, and peppermint ice cream! Maybe throw in a turkey or two for the non-vegans.

Dear Zenyatta, You are thee greatest mare in the world ~ I don’t care about those critics who try to put you down ~ they are jealous of your family and friends ~ because you are sooooo loved by sooooo many people ~ I wish your team members have a wonderful time at your party ~ they have kept you happy for all those years ~ you would not have been doing all that dancing if you were unhappy ~ that’s why you are dappled all over ~ a sure sign of health and happiness ~ we are going to miss you ~ there will be a tremendous void after you leave for Lane’s End ! GOD BLESS !!!
