GOOD MORNING TO ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS!
HAPPY DIARY #100! WOW! It has been an amazing time!
In thinking about this DIARY ENTRY, I really wanted to tie in so many of the past experiences we’ve shared and open the door for all of us to enjoy other unique moments together. I am one very, very fortunate HORSE! I’ve had an amazing racing career. I’ve received so many incredible acknowledgements and prestigious awards. Yet, most importantly, I have been completely BLESSED to be loved by so many wonderful people.
I’m now living in Kentucky. Hopefully I’ll find out soon about my IN FOAL status. I promise, I will definitely let YOU know the results as soon as possible!
To honor #100, I have one very ‘PRECIOUS’ experience of mine to share with you! My adorable JOHN helped ME put this together for YOU! Even though I was officially retired last November, I was still at BARN 55 for over a month before going to Lane’s End. During that time, it was necessary for me to exercise each day and stay in ‘somewhat’ my normal routine. I was a very fit athlete getting ready to ‘change my focus to farm life’…so John wanted to help ME with this transition and keep ME relaxed, fit and HAPPY!
On my last day of exercise while in California, John had a great idea. He had Steve wear the helmet cam while riding ME. MY ADORABLE JOHN thought it would be very special for ALL OF YOU to go on my LAST GALLOP WITH ME!
The next day, I moved to Kentucky and my daily routine changed to that of becoming a BROODMARE. In modern day terms, Dottie tells me that I am in the process of RESTRUCTURING MY CAREER! TOO CUTE! I think I’m doing quite well at this!
I truly can’t THANK ALL OF YOU enough for the continued LOVE, SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT you have given ME! As I have stated many times before, I really could never have done it without MY TEAM and ALL OF YOU!
Again, HAPPY DIARY ENTRY #100! Please enjoy joining me at the racetrack for MY LAST GALLOP!
Check out the video HERE!
With LOVE,
HUGS to ALL~(and I truly mean this)
Z
P.S. Dottie wanted me to let you know that we will take a few days and get ‘some business things organized’ and work on some future projects. Between all of this and counting the days on my ‘in foal status’, please keep thinking HOOVES CROSSED!
Dylan
*That photo of Sophie is sooooooooo adorable!!!! =)*
Happy 100th post Ms. Zenyatta, and Team Zenyatta. What a great time it has been reading these posts from you. This might just be the best yet too! GREAT video, what a lovely surprise it was to see that video! It was just like being on top of you, and riding you Zenyatta! What a great 1st person POV of what its like to be with you on the track, and as always, love seeing your ears flop side to side, back and forth.
I know theres a lot of news impending, and I ust can’t wait to hear it, fingers and hooves crossed you’re in foal and have a safe pregnancy. It has been great reading the first 100 posts and I look forward to the next 100. The Zenyatta Experience continues through these great daily reads. I loved the experience while you were on the track, and I’m loving it even when you’re in Kentucky and retired from the track. Thanks Zenyatta and Mrs. Ingordo-Shirreffs for these daily posts, and Mr. Shirreffs for allowing us to all experience Zenny’s last gallop, and that adorable pic of Ms. Sophie, so precious! Take care my sweet Zenyatta. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Dear Z,
As I watch your last gallop again and again, I can’t get over what a wonderful athlete you were on the track. What a tremendous record you have (20 starts – 19 wins and 1 second). That is going to be hard to beat (maybe one of your babies). Love to you and your wonderful Team. Judy and Russ

Happy 100th Diary Post, Zenny! I’ve loved them all and I love this video link you have provided. As I posted on my own Facebook page, this video is at the same time sad and wonderful. While it is wonderful to ride along with you via the helmet cam and I love those ears, it is sad to think that this was the last time that anyone will ever ride you in your lifetime. Hopefully, your life as a brood mare will bring you as much joy as galloping on a race track brought to all of us, your fans. I look forward to seeing your beautiful foals. Happy life of motherhood to you, and thanks for all of the wonderful memories!

That was a great ride, Z. You sure gave us many great rides. I loved watching your shadow as you ran around the track.
I can’t believe it has been 100 diary entries already. Thank you to you and Dottie for giving us these wonderful journeys of your new broodmare and past racing life, introducing us to your close friends such as Sophie and your new barn girlfriends and of course all of barn 55,lastly, all the priceless informational pieces that involve a massive amount of time to put together.
You all deserve some needed time off.
Looking at your circle of friends on your last run around the track brought tears to my eyes. It is hard to believe how much of your love and spirit you have given all of us.
Take care Z. Lots of love and hugs back to you!
Susan

That was such an emotional morning. I was so grateful to spend the morning at the barn watching the work out, the bath and watching everyone get their own special moment with Zenyatta. Everyone was so kind and respectful. It was an amazing morning….. thanks for sharing the video…. Happy 100th Diary Posting!

Happy 100th Zenny – What grace, what power, what a racing machine you are – the only thing as fast as you is your shadow – thanks for these beautiful memories from barn 55.

Dear Zeny,
I really enjoy the various address sites people put up very informative. Bobby II Freedom rescued. Wonderful the plight of carriage horses in New Youk is seldom addressed. Lincom Karin at http://www.PaleMale.com has mentioned it many times he advocates for all creatures.
Now dear Hootie has retired he is going to enjoy the good life, I loved the picture, I’ll bet he misses you Lady Z and I know you think of him too. Thanks for the lovely Post 100 Dottie and John

My beautiful and SPECIAL Zenny. Watched the video and cried. You are as smooth as silk and that dark mane blowing in the wind. Watching your eyes twitch. I could`nt take it. What a memory. I`ll bet you remember your racing days. Yes, you`ll not forget them you`re too smart. I guess i`m selfish but i really miss seeing Zenyatta racing. When I watch races at Santa Anita its just not the same. Especially no turquoise and pinl signs saying, QUEEN ZENYATTA. I`m sorry but this video just brought back alot of racing memories and just your GREATNESS on the track. Well, now you will show your greatness in the breeding shed.. Love you sweet girl!!! Your connections are the BEST in the horses racking industry. They are feeling loving people!! Thanks to all of you! Lots of Big Hugs and Kisses,Alene PS Dottie I`m hoping the diary post will continie!!!! :-)

Zenny, you are truly one of God’s blessing for us all. with every post from you, i wonder with absolute awe at the generosity of your entire family. Zenyatta, you are much more than a winner. you return 100x, no, a MILLION x, what was given to you by your team. through YOU, 1000’s upon 1000’s have become aware of the horse and racing industries, the good things and some bad.
John, when i grow up, i’d like to be an exercise rider. i’m 58.
Alicia
I am so gratified to see the love that Zenyatta’s connections have for this wonderful horse, the example they set for compassionate and enlightened management of a race horse, and the bridge that they provide between Zenyatta and the world. Keeping Zenyatta before the public and ensuring her happy non racing future is an example for all horse racing owners. This is rewriting the history of humans and horses, in the sport of kings. And this is allowing everyone to be blessed by knowing Zenyatta. She is truly a blessing to all of us. Thank you.

Have decided Sophie is just “too cute”

Thank you for sharing your last gallop. I am still crying. That brought me so much joy and sadness all at the same time. You and your team are remarkable! I will watch this video many times and it will fill my heart the same as it did the first time.

Dearest Zenyatta,
I have ridden horses all my life and I love to gallop, but I must say this ride with you was the greatest one I’ve ever taken! Thank you for allowing all of us to go along! What a gorgeous, talented, intelligent, and loving darling you are. My day isn’t complete until I take moments to think of you. My fingers are crossed (my horses have their hooves crossed for you, too)for news that you’ll be in foal.
God Bless you and keep you always, dear Z!
Hugs and kisses,
Stel

Thanks to John for this wonderful idea. What a fun memory. It was touching to see how Zen loves her Mario. I loved to watch her ears especially the left ear moving up and down taking everything in. Of course this makes me sad too to think of such a great athlete who will never run again. But thank God she’s safe and sound and loving her new life. Thanks again for this beautiful “last ride” video.

Hey Zenyatta you’ve given us so much over the few years you were on the track to 20 exciting races that I don’t know about anybody else but my little girl and I enjoy hearing about you and wondering if our Paint mare has the same thoughts running through her mind as she’s working cows. That’s until I do other things with her like barrel race her she’ll be 5 this year and my little girl compares all horses she sees to you two…. you with your Dark Brown coat and Bella with her solid Buckskin coat… you’re both very special to her and got her on the My Little Pony kick. We both look forward to seeing you someday and seeing your offspring…. Maybe Dottie or somebody can show you Bella on my facebook photos so you know what my little girl is comparing all other horses beside you with…. Best of luck on the 9th on finding out sweetie.
Abigail from Montreal
Hi Zenny & Dottie: Wow — 100 posts! I think it’s amazing that Dottie has found the time to write 100 absolutely fabulous entries….I mean, she’s not retired like you, big girl!
And I just loved the video. Of course, there was the first one with camera-on-head during your racing days. But what I just adored about this one is how the world looks round all around you as you run, Zenny. It’s as though you’re running on top of the world. Just as you should be! Love you both, ladies!
Lisa
Great video!! Thanks for sharing your last gallop on the track.
Mary
Bittersweet video. Wish I could have seen you on the backside at Barn 55.
Hooves crossed for you, Zenyatta. Hugs and Prayers

Hi Z,
Please let everyone know how fun and special your diary posts are, and thanks for all the wonderful pictures and videos. So many times when great horses retire we never really hear from them again.
Blessings to you and your team!
Gary Moulton
The Video really showcases your long, slender, lovely neck.
.
They say always look for the horse with the longest neck.
.
Zenyatta has the neck of a serpent and I mean that in a good way.
.
We talked ears, anybody want to talk necks?
.
100 posts, way to go, look forward to a 100 more!
Annie
What an awesome video…getting to “ride along” is wonderful! As are you, dearest Zenyatta and all your team. Wishing you all the best.
