GOOD MORNING TO ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS!
HAPPY DIARY #100! WOW! It has been an amazing time!
In thinking about this DIARY ENTRY, I really wanted to tie in so many of the past experiences we’ve shared and open the door for all of us to enjoy other unique moments together. I am one very, very fortunate HORSE! I’ve had an amazing racing career. I’ve received so many incredible acknowledgements and prestigious awards. Yet, most importantly, I have been completely BLESSED to be loved by so many wonderful people.
I’m now living in Kentucky. Hopefully I’ll find out soon about my IN FOAL status. I promise, I will definitely let YOU know the results as soon as possible!
To honor #100, I have one very ‘PRECIOUS’ experience of mine to share with you! My adorable JOHN helped ME put this together for YOU! Even though I was officially retired last November, I was still at BARN 55 for over a month before going to Lane’s End. During that time, it was necessary for me to exercise each day and stay in ‘somewhat’ my normal routine. I was a very fit athlete getting ready to ‘change my focus to farm life’…so John wanted to help ME with this transition and keep ME relaxed, fit and HAPPY!
On my last day of exercise while in California, John had a great idea. He had Steve wear the helmet cam while riding ME. MY ADORABLE JOHN thought it would be very special for ALL OF YOU to go on my LAST GALLOP WITH ME!
The next day, I moved to Kentucky and my daily routine changed to that of becoming a BROODMARE. In modern day terms, Dottie tells me that I am in the process of RESTRUCTURING MY CAREER! TOO CUTE! I think I’m doing quite well at this!
I truly can’t THANK ALL OF YOU enough for the continued LOVE, SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT you have given ME! As I have stated many times before, I really could never have done it without MY TEAM and ALL OF YOU!
Again, HAPPY DIARY ENTRY #100! Please enjoy joining me at the racetrack for MY LAST GALLOP!
Check out the video HERE!
With LOVE,
HUGS to ALL~(and I truly mean this)
Z
P.S. Dottie wanted me to let you know that we will take a few days and get ‘some business things organized’ and work on some future projects. Between all of this and counting the days on my ‘in foal status’, please keep thinking HOOVES CROSSED!
Jenna
I made that up (I think?)! It’s the best combination :>

Incredible! I felt like I was in the saddle too! I am just in awe of Dottie, John, the Mosses, Steve, and everyone associated with Zenyatta. How many owners, trainers, and associates would do something like this for the fans? So far, just Team Zenyatta. I could feel her power as she moved effortlessly around the track and the birds eye view the rider gets lets you know just how tall she is. Zenyatta, you are in a class by yourself, and so is your team. Thank you all for this.
LOU IN TX
QUeen Z, that was quite the ride. Thanks for taking me along. I’m saving that in my favorites so I can ride with you when ever I want to. You have such a smooth stride.
Tell Dottie we’ll be here when she gets through with her duties. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Love you much…Lou
PS. Thanks John and Dottie for the video. Loved it and Happy 100th post!

Thank you so much! What a special gift for us! To see you running with your mane flying – turning your ears back to the rider now and again – the excelleration when you really got going and running with your shadow. I am deeply touched and grateful. Thank you so much.

Wow Z, your stride seems even longer from that perspective. I saw Mike win on a Bernardini colt named Wilburn today. He’s big, good looking, and has a nice long stride. Just imagine what your baby could be! I hope I’m around to see it all. Thanks for everthing Z and clan, and best wishes to all.

Thank you for the 100th Diary posting! OMG! Thank you so much to John for taking us along on Z’s back for her last “official” gallop! It was amazing. I haven’t been on a horse in many years but that video brought back many wonderful memories. I feel like I just won the biggest lottery and got to ride my beautiful Zenyatta. What a thrill! You all are the best. Love you Z and all of your team!!!

‘Bobby II Freedom” is a 15-year-old rescued NYC Carriage Horse. He has been immortalized by Peter Max [who loves rescuing animals and began with a cow] and painted his portrait ‘ . .. full of blue skies and a bright future .. . as opposed to the darkness . .. he faced before.’ It will be auctioned as one of only seven works at the 23rd Annual Henry Street Art Show Sunday, March 6, 2011. His story and the painting is on the Equine Advocates site http://www.equineadvocates.org/news.php?recordID=22 ~ Earlier, ‘Home Is Where The Horse Is’ [Ellen`s link to ‘Z`s Gifted Ancestors’] inferred the hearth was for people; here, the warmth is for a contented gelding, rolling when he was first brought ‘home,’ running safe with seven other fellows, in a ‘huge’ pasture all their own.

Z, thank you for taking me along for your last gallop. It brought back fond memories of riding my own horse. Congrats on 100 posts. I’ve enjoyed each one and look forward to many more.

It’s been 3 months now since I saw you at Hollywood Park, pretty girl. This must have been filmed earlier that day. Thanks for taking us on the ride – I loved your expressive ears throughout! Happy 100th post, too!

Cathleen: thank you for the Zenyatta Bob

@Nancy
The othe video was a work video with Mike on
Top for race prep. This was her last exercise gallop very
Different.
Dear Zenny
Sooo loved seeing your last gallop. Kind of bittersweet farewell
To never be ridden again. I would still love for Mike to
Jump on and gallop around the paddock with you bareback and using
A lead rope in foal. I guess I will have to dream on about that.
Love your very long neck and ears going back and forth
Listening to Steve talk and urge you on. You are very
Responsive to his urging.

You are amazing Zenyatta <3

Dearest Zenny – you are a true living legend, every step, every gallop of the way. All of the rewards you’ve received can’t begin to suffice for all that you and your team have given to the fans. I wish for a peaceful, horse-happy retirement and mommyhood.

@Lizzy
Horses have a way of knowing who is riding them. When it is a
Small child they protect them. When it is someone learning the push
You forward to advance your skills or tell you no something is not right and I can’t do what you are asking. Then with the very experienced
They say lets go and do it all and do it right. The same horse can do
All of these things through sensing the position of the rider how balanced they are and what the say with their hands or legs. They
Are very intuitive animals.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for your in foal status!
I hope you and all of Team Z have a lovely Sunday!
Hugs & love to all,
Leslie

Thank you for this beautiful video. “On the backs of horses, we borrow freedom.” That quote is ever so true! Zenyatta’s neck is so long, and she seems so very, very smooth for her size. Actually, she transcends the quote – it looks like, on her – one does not quite touch the earth, but is being carried on the wings of Pegasus – ethereal. I loved the way her ear/s would occasionally flip back to let Steve know she was listening to him. What a gift she is….but, really – what a gift all horses are!(including the ones that are not superstars- I am especially thinking of those kind horses donated to be therapy horses, who will stand patiently next to a ramp, while having the dense weight of a quadriplegic mechanically lowered unto their backs – and walk quietly , with one person leading, and two people closely on each side, stabilizing this person. For that hour, this wheelchair bound person has been raised high, feeling underneath her/him – the power, strength, and freedom, that is – the horse. Humans are greatly blessed by all horses. Zenyatta has become an ambassador for her species, and will undoubtedly help them, through human education (thanks to her spokespersons).
Lauren
Dear Zenny – Congratulations on your 100th post. I love reading them everyday. I have learned so much about you and what a wonderful horse you are. I loved the video of your last gallop in California. The shadow of you running was awesome. You are a beautiful girl. Sophie is a beautiful girl also. Hooves crossed for a special announcement soon. Love and kisses beautiful girl. xoxoxo
