GOOD MORNING TO ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS!
HAPPY DIARY #100! WOW! It has been an amazing time!
In thinking about this DIARY ENTRY, I really wanted to tie in so many of the past experiences we’ve shared and open the door for all of us to enjoy other unique moments together. I am one very, very fortunate HORSE! I’ve had an amazing racing career. I’ve received so many incredible acknowledgements and prestigious awards. Yet, most importantly, I have been completely BLESSED to be loved by so many wonderful people.
I’m now living in Kentucky. Hopefully I’ll find out soon about my IN FOAL status. I promise, I will definitely let YOU know the results as soon as possible!
To honor #100, I have one very ‘PRECIOUS’ experience of mine to share with you! My adorable JOHN helped ME put this together for YOU! Even though I was officially retired last November, I was still at BARN 55 for over a month before going to Lane’s End. During that time, it was necessary for me to exercise each day and stay in ‘somewhat’ my normal routine. I was a very fit athlete getting ready to ‘change my focus to farm life’…so John wanted to help ME with this transition and keep ME relaxed, fit and HAPPY!
On my last day of exercise while in California, John had a great idea. He had Steve wear the helmet cam while riding ME. MY ADORABLE JOHN thought it would be very special for ALL OF YOU to go on my LAST GALLOP WITH ME!
The next day, I moved to Kentucky and my daily routine changed to that of becoming a BROODMARE. In modern day terms, Dottie tells me that I am in the process of RESTRUCTURING MY CAREER! TOO CUTE! I think I’m doing quite well at this!
I truly can’t THANK ALL OF YOU enough for the continued LOVE, SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT you have given ME! As I have stated many times before, I really could never have done it without MY TEAM and ALL OF YOU!
Again, HAPPY DIARY ENTRY #100! Please enjoy joining me at the racetrack for MY LAST GALLOP!
Check out the video HERE!
With LOVE,
HUGS to ALL~(and I truly mean this)
Z
P.S. Dottie wanted me to let you know that we will take a few days and get ‘some business things organized’ and work on some future projects. Between all of this and counting the days on my ‘in foal status’, please keep thinking HOOVES CROSSED!
Sue M
Miss you Z. I do get teary over you very easily (tears of happiness though :)
Thanks for one more gallop. Looking forward to hearing more from you later in the week.

You sure can cover some ground, tho, big girl!!
Waiting patiently on the news of your cover!
Have fun in the mud!

Thanks to John for sharing your last ride with us. It was simply fabulous. No wonder Mike E says riding you is like riding a gazelle. Little Sophie is absoloutely adorable and I know the Sheriffs love her to death.
The best to you always.

Hey Z,
I was there that morning, it was bittersweet. SO wonderful to finally see you up close and to get my pic with you. It was one of the most memorable moments of my life, one I will never forget.Everyone at Barn 55 was so gracious to all of your fans , I want to thank them all for that. #100, wow, hopefully this time next year they will include the little one, I can’t wait. At first I was saddened that you would never race again, I will admit that was very selfish on my part. I quickly realized you went out on top, safe and sound, how could anyone who loves you not be thrilled at the prospects that layed ahead. Hope the sonogram shows what we are all hoping for.
Love you Z.

Wow Zen and Team Z – this is wonderful! What a beautiful way to bring this part of your career to closure. I can’t wait to hear more abour your post-racing career as it unfolds – I believe great things are still yet to come. And, while you feeling so lucky to have so many love you – please know how very lucky we are to you come along in our lifetime!!

Happy Hundredth! What a great way to celebrate this milestone with a ride with you and Steve! I remember this; I was so fortunate to visit there that day–it was awesome, everyone was so patient and generous with their time, and you were so gracious and kind to all of us there. I will never forget that day. We were all so in awe of you, I couldn’t believe it! P.S. One of Bernardini’s colts, Wilburn, just won going away with your Mike in the saddle @ Santa Anita. Handsome boy and fast! Best wishes to Zazu today, too! Thank you, Zenny, Dottie, John & Steve for the ride!

Loved the way Zenyatta’s ears flicked as the galloped.
Sandra
That was a nice video. I luv the way your mane whips in the wind! Having been going through Zenyatta race withdrawls it was a nice little jolt of excitement for me but still way sad knowing this was the final ride. 8(

Zenyatta,
What a wonderful fun ride. Thanks again John for putting us on your beloved Zenyatta. Keeping hooves crossed for both you and RA. Have a fun day. Do you think Sophie Sherreff’s is spoiled… :)

Thank you Z for sharing what it is like to be on your back while running. I was so fasinated by your ears and how attentitive you are to your rider while working. Amazing horse you are…. MY dream has always been to be up on a race horse and go full out down a race track. I am now 58 and on oxygen, so the closest to having this dream come true was today. Thank you so very very much….

Dear Queen Zenyatta –
.
Sophie is so pretty! I wonder if she’s looking for YOU to come galloping around the corner!
.
Dottie in particular, as well as John and all of Zenyatta’s Team deserve a rest, a break, and a time to recharge. We hope you can catch your breath while all of us go back over 100 Diary Entries and catch up on our reading. Santa Anita racing today must be keeping you VERY BUSY!
.
THANK YOU for the 100th post, and – OH – that video! I was tearing up a little – well OK a lot – and missing her. Then I remembered – she’s right here with us every day!
.
Did you see Wilburn win today at Santa Anita, with our Mike Smith? Wilburn is a BERNARDINI colt! Ears and hooves crossed for our Queen and Bernardini, hoping for good baby news soon.

Awesome video! I get motion sickness from videos like these, but I just had to take a virtual ride with the Great One. Thank you so much to John for making this happen, my eyes were misty with tears of joy.

Your Team thinks of everything! What a thrill it was to “ride” along with you on this video; I really had a sense of your balance and power. And could imagine what it might feel like to be on your back at a gallop. Amazing!! I was mesmerized by your ears, watching them move as you attuned to your rider. To use a term you like, TOO CUTE!! You and your team are wonderful.
Hooves crossed for you,
Mary Ann

I’ve enjoyed all of your postings but haven’t commented ’til now because they’d all be pretty much the same each time!
Thank you for keeping us up to date to what is happening in Zenyatta’s life and also for giving us a glimpse into your work-a-day life. This video is wonderful to view as are all the videos you’ve posted for her fans and the curious. I sorely miss seeing Zenyatta race, but time marches on in the natural order of things. Zenyatta is a true marvel.
Sophie is awfully cute.
