GOOD MORNING TO ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS!
HAPPY DIARY #100! WOW! It has been an amazing time!
In thinking about this DIARY ENTRY, I really wanted to tie in so many of the past experiences we’ve shared and open the door for all of us to enjoy other unique moments together. I am one very, very fortunate HORSE! I’ve had an amazing racing career. I’ve received so many incredible acknowledgements and prestigious awards. Yet, most importantly, I have been completely BLESSED to be loved by so many wonderful people.
I’m now living in Kentucky. Hopefully I’ll find out soon about my IN FOAL status. I promise, I will definitely let YOU know the results as soon as possible!
To honor #100, I have one very ‘PRECIOUS’ experience of mine to share with you! My adorable JOHN helped ME put this together for YOU! Even though I was officially retired last November, I was still at BARN 55 for over a month before going to Lane’s End. During that time, it was necessary for me to exercise each day and stay in ‘somewhat’ my normal routine. I was a very fit athlete getting ready to ‘change my focus to farm life’…so John wanted to help ME with this transition and keep ME relaxed, fit and HAPPY!
On my last day of exercise while in California, John had a great idea. He had Steve wear the helmet cam while riding ME. MY ADORABLE JOHN thought it would be very special for ALL OF YOU to go on my LAST GALLOP WITH ME!
The next day, I moved to Kentucky and my daily routine changed to that of becoming a BROODMARE. In modern day terms, Dottie tells me that I am in the process of RESTRUCTURING MY CAREER! TOO CUTE! I think I’m doing quite well at this!
I truly can’t THANK ALL OF YOU enough for the continued LOVE, SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT you have given ME! As I have stated many times before, I really could never have done it without MY TEAM and ALL OF YOU!
Again, HAPPY DIARY ENTRY #100! Please enjoy joining me at the racetrack for MY LAST GALLOP!
Check out the video HERE!
With LOVE,
HUGS to ALL~(and I truly mean this)
Z
P.S. Dottie wanted me to let you know that we will take a few days and get ‘some business things organized’ and work on some future projects. Between all of this and counting the days on my ‘in foal status’, please keep thinking HOOVES CROSSED!

Z my dearest you will always be the Queen. Happy 100th post. I hope we get to posts in the 6 figures as your life unfolds. For those of us who cannot have a horse of our own, we live thru you vicariously. I had several wonderful horses in my lifetime before family and jobs had to take precedence. So getting to hear and see your posts helps me feel connected still to the beauty and nobility of horses. I can relive my memories of Patches, Ladybug, Desiree, and Goldie and flying down the road on their backs free and one with them. Thank you to your Team for sharing you with us. Love and kisses.

Wow, cool! I could feel Z’s hooves through my computer speakers. Reminded me of the line from the Liza G. song, “You feel the ground rumble and then you’re behind her . . .”
Steve is such a cutie, too. He is really a nice man.
Elaine
Wow1 That’s the next best thing to actually riding Zenyatta. Thank you so much for the videos you post! SO CUTE!

Kirsten
Thank you so much for posting this video! I love Zenyatta. She has and continues to bring so much joy to my life! Meeting her at Churchill Downs the day after the Breeder’s Cup is an experience I will cherish forever.

What a wonderful experience to be ‘on board’ for Zenyatta’s last breeze. (Is that the correct term?) Thank you, Team Z,
for treating us – Z’s adoring fans – so thoughtfully, and with such kindness. How can we ever thank you enough for so many warm-hearted experiences?
I have a question for posters who might know this sort of thing. Do race horses do lead changes on the straightaway? And if so, do the jockeys signal for it somehow? Or are the horses going too fast for this? I’d really appreciate hearing about this little detail.
Good thoughts going out to ALL the horses racing today, and a special ‘woohoo’ to any who are racing for ‘Moss, Shireffs, and Smith’.
Sounds like we won’t be hearing from VOZ for a few days. In the meantime we can all ride with Steve and Zenyatta whenever we want to. How cool is that?!?!
Gloria Jeanne

These videos just keep getting better. This one may be the best yet as it gives us an idea of what a great athlete you are. You and your team are fantastic. Stay well, beautiful Queen. Eager to hear about any new projects in the works. Anything that you do will be a success. May good health and good fortune shine on Zenyatta and Team Z.

Congrtulations on your milestone #100 post. It’s so important to have goals in life, and milestones to mark our progress. I’ll always have in mind one special goal that I hope someday to realize, and that is to meet YOU, Zenyatta. Even just to see you from afar would be such an honor and privilege. It’s a wonderful dream, and hopefully someday a fantastic memory. Love you Zenyatta. What a special girl you are!

@ Karey R,
.
Yes, most horses do change their leads during the running of a race. Ideally you want them on their left lead coming into the turn (for American racing atleast lol) and then hopefully you’ll see them change over to their right lead on the straightaways and the home stretch.
.
Some horses change automatically, some will respond to a little tug on the right or left rein from the jock.

Dear Z,
Just watched the video of your last gallop on the track. It was both thrilling and scary. The rail seems so close and the visibility for the horse and rider is not all that clear. It makes what horses and jockeys do that much more amazing. And in your case, utterly fantastic. Thank you John and Dottie and Z for sharing this with us. Looking forward to the big news. Love to all of you. Judy and Russ

Hello Beautiful!
Every time I think I have shed my last tear over you, you surprise me with something like this =-) The last “helmetcam” video I saw was of you and Mike, when you were still still racing – and now here’s this last time around the track. How nice Steve was to everyone! I was always sorry I never got down to see you at the barn. Maybe someday I’ll see you on the bluegrass, even if I have to wait 20 years to do it. You’re not a horse anyone could ever forget =-)
Happy weekend to you and yours. XXOOOXX

Thank you Dottie for showing John’s genius work with the Helmet Cam for Zenyatta’s last work out at Santa Anita.
I always said in anything i posted on Bloodhorse.com, way back when, that she was always so very aware of her surroundings but most especially where the wire was at the end of the race!!
Isn’t that right Zenyatta?
I can tell also that simply reading your ears told everyone your mood, right Zenny??
Post 100 means 100 days at Lane’s End with your gal pals in the paddock. And your 1 looming large Sire to Be, Bernardini over the hills and thru the dales.
Zenyatta you are something else.
Be safe and no high fives with Pirate Queen just yet! Tell PQ hello for me.

Thanks to John and Dottie for posting this. What a treat!!! You have fabulous gaits, Zenny, so very comfy, and I love when you change leads. And you have THE BEST ears. But you knew that already. I have always loved riding with ” alot of neck” in front of me.
Great ride, you made my day!!!
