GOOD MORNING TO ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS!
HAPPY DIARY #100! WOW! It has been an amazing time!
In thinking about this DIARY ENTRY, I really wanted to tie in so many of the past experiences we’ve shared and open the door for all of us to enjoy other unique moments together. I am one very, very fortunate HORSE! I’ve had an amazing racing career. I’ve received so many incredible acknowledgements and prestigious awards. Yet, most importantly, I have been completely BLESSED to be loved by so many wonderful people.
I’m now living in Kentucky. Hopefully I’ll find out soon about my IN FOAL status. I promise, I will definitely let YOU know the results as soon as possible!
To honor #100, I have one very ‘PRECIOUS’ experience of mine to share with you! My adorable JOHN helped ME put this together for YOU! Even though I was officially retired last November, I was still at BARN 55 for over a month before going to Lane’s End. During that time, it was necessary for me to exercise each day and stay in ‘somewhat’ my normal routine. I was a very fit athlete getting ready to ‘change my focus to farm life’…so John wanted to help ME with this transition and keep ME relaxed, fit and HAPPY!
On my last day of exercise while in California, John had a great idea. He had Steve wear the helmet cam while riding ME. MY ADORABLE JOHN thought it would be very special for ALL OF YOU to go on my LAST GALLOP WITH ME!
The next day, I moved to Kentucky and my daily routine changed to that of becoming a BROODMARE. In modern day terms, Dottie tells me that I am in the process of RESTRUCTURING MY CAREER! TOO CUTE! I think I’m doing quite well at this!
I truly can’t THANK ALL OF YOU enough for the continued LOVE, SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT you have given ME! As I have stated many times before, I really could never have done it without MY TEAM and ALL OF YOU!
Again, HAPPY DIARY ENTRY #100! Please enjoy joining me at the racetrack for MY LAST GALLOP!
Check out the video HERE!
With LOVE,
HUGS to ALL~(and I truly mean this)
Z
P.S. Dottie wanted me to let you know that we will take a few days and get ‘some business things organized’ and work on some future projects. Between all of this and counting the days on my ‘in foal status’, please keep thinking HOOVES CROSSED!
Carrie
Hope you had a great day Z. It was good reading all your wonderful posts. Take care everyone. See you all in the morning. Love you Z.
Tamyatta
Dang it! I just knew there would be a Bloodhorse alert in my mailbox! Going to work now where my office is “Zen’s Den”! I love you Zenyatta!
Diana
Zen, I am another on hourly foal watch alert. Hooves crossed. We love you either way, and will be right here sharing your journey.

Goodmorning Z! I see it’s rainy day for you today, which means a good day for a mud facial. AND possibly a good day for… ;)
Barbara Wood
I think a Zenyatta float is a great idea because who else is a better representative of her state and her sport? Her philanthropy and her admirable TEAM make her a perfect representative for the Thoroughbred industry. Now that she’s about (we hope?) to become a mom, she will have done it ALL.

REMEMBER PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE!!!!
DOTTIE/Z will let us know. Hooves crossed.
Have a great day with your friends Zenny !!!
Keep that embryo warm.

Ok, I’m having a little bit of Z withdrawal. I’ve attached a clip of Z cooling down after BC2009. What sticks out in this clip, is her regal qualities. She’s probably exhausted, but yet so calm…kids taking photos with her, car headlights on nearby, people talking, camera’s clicking….don’t know many humans who could tolerate that!!
.
Oh and one more thing….check her body out…beautiful, just beautiful.

Ok, and if you want to watch the 2009BC race again, here it is. Gives me goosebumps everytime.

And now I’m ready for the ‘eyerolls’ & scolding (will accept humbly) for linking items that have been posted a gazillion times already.

Dear Zenyatta we all can’t wait to hear the good news. My students enjoyed the music videos staring YOU this morning. Kitei posted them. All I could think of was music my students enjoy to beautiful images of the Queen. They were cheering you on. I just loved it. You make my world a better place and give the children a positive role model. I also think Mike is the best and they know who he is too. I pray you have a wonderful day, Stay dry. It is raining buckets here. We love you sweet girl. Shari Voltz and classroom 215 XXXOOO
PS Thank you Kitei nice job.
@Hi to Dawn Hope you are having a brighter day than we are. Take care and God Bless, Shari :)

@max, I know you didn’t direct your question at me, but here is some information on Hastings, Man o’War’s grandsire and Zenyatta’s distant ancestor. The whole site is fascinating.

And yes, he had a savage temper.

Anytime you’re ready to have a little one, we’ll be here.
Words from Dan Fogelberg’s Run for the Roses…..maybe he RIP.
From sire to sire
It’s born in the blood
The fire of a mare
And the strength of a stud
It’s breeding and it’s training
And it’s something unknown
That drives you and carries
You home.

@Barbara Wood – couldn’t agree with you more!! I was at SA for the BC 09 Classic and for as much as I admired Zenyatta before that day, after that race I became one of her super fans. What a display of racing talent and guts!! Wow, still gives me chills to this day! As soon as the Mosses “unretired” her I bought my ticket to Hot Springs for the Apple Blossom. It was an awesome day, even without Rachel !

As a young girl growing up I remember watching Secretariat’s spectacular win at the Belmont and always was a devoted fan. Then of course there was beautiful Rufian whose life was tragically cut short. After that time I became very interested in harness horses, but after watching TVG on many occasions, I learned about Zenyatta and became an instant fan. Her beauty, grace and talent is unmatched as far as I am concerned. It is almost as if she were a human. Not only is she beautiful, but her owners, extended family and staff are beautiful people as well. If you look at some of her videos on her Facebook page, there is one of her and Mike Smith where he is visiting her in Kentucky. It is breathtaking the bond that the two of them share.
I so hope to be able to visit her in Kentucky one day. She is an amazing animal. Much love and kisses to her as we await her In Foal status.
Also, it has been so nice reading all of the posts on this site. It appears to me that the one thing we all have in common is the love for this beautiful girl.

Sarah T: Love your words about our view from Zenyatta`s ‘Window’ aboard Steve`s own private ‘Air Horse One’ [Tex Sutton`s Subtle Shuttle title] .. . smooth flying changes, if ever there were some.

Many thanks to John and Steve for showing your last gallop around the track. Very well done guys, and Zenny (and Dottie). At least it gives us a small taste of what it would be like to ride Zenyatta, but the experience that Mike Smith has had racing you, Z, at full run around that track is something totally beyond my wildest dream! It had to be the thrill of a lifetime. We owe so much to John for his love of photography and sharing them with us. Also an adorable photo of Sophie at Santa Anita. Wow this was un-bee-leeve-able! •●♥♥●•
