GOOD MORNING TO ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS!
HAPPY DIARY #100! WOW! It has been an amazing time!
In thinking about this DIARY ENTRY, I really wanted to tie in so many of the past experiences we’ve shared and open the door for all of us to enjoy other unique moments together. I am one very, very fortunate HORSE! I’ve had an amazing racing career. I’ve received so many incredible acknowledgements and prestigious awards. Yet, most importantly, I have been completely BLESSED to be loved by so many wonderful people.
I’m now living in Kentucky. Hopefully I’ll find out soon about my IN FOAL status. I promise, I will definitely let YOU know the results as soon as possible!
To honor #100, I have one very ‘PRECIOUS’ experience of mine to share with you! My adorable JOHN helped ME put this together for YOU! Even though I was officially retired last November, I was still at BARN 55 for over a month before going to Lane’s End. During that time, it was necessary for me to exercise each day and stay in ‘somewhat’ my normal routine. I was a very fit athlete getting ready to ‘change my focus to farm life’…so John wanted to help ME with this transition and keep ME relaxed, fit and HAPPY!
On my last day of exercise while in California, John had a great idea. He had Steve wear the helmet cam while riding ME. MY ADORABLE JOHN thought it would be very special for ALL OF YOU to go on my LAST GALLOP WITH ME!
The next day, I moved to Kentucky and my daily routine changed to that of becoming a BROODMARE. In modern day terms, Dottie tells me that I am in the process of RESTRUCTURING MY CAREER! TOO CUTE! I think I’m doing quite well at this!
I truly can’t THANK ALL OF YOU enough for the continued LOVE, SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT you have given ME! As I have stated many times before, I really could never have done it without MY TEAM and ALL OF YOU!
Again, HAPPY DIARY ENTRY #100! Please enjoy joining me at the racetrack for MY LAST GALLOP!
Check out the video HERE!
With LOVE,
HUGS to ALL~(and I truly mean this)
Z
P.S. Dottie wanted me to let you know that we will take a few days and get ‘some business things organized’ and work on some future projects. Between all of this and counting the days on my ‘in foal status’, please keep thinking HOOVES CROSSED!

Thank you team Zenyatta and Zenny for these wonderful 100 diary entries, the videos, the pictures, all of the knowledge of horse racing and the awesome giving of your valuable time to share all of this with her fans. I loved the gallop.

@Ensign, Thanks for that explanation. With all of the texting language, LOL, BFF, and OTTB, I just could not come up with a phrase for MUAH, but thought it might end in Amazing Horse !! MUAH to you.
@Dani, your post of Sophie Sherrif’s thoughts is fantastic. I love to imagine what animals are saying,; horses, dogs, cats and even the tigers at the zoo, and you have captured it perfectly. Thanks, it made me smile.

Hi Zenny, I’m trying to stay calm but like everyone else I’m about to explode….I just hope so much we will hear a little ZennyBernny is on the way! I’m glued to the internet until we get word. I did hear Rachel is going to be a mom,,,congrats to her! Zen, I need a favor. I got a mailing requesting a money donation to Castleton Ranch Horse Rescue in Lancaster, CA. It was a very desperate request to help feed horses and save them from slaughter. If you can check with your family I would be very grateful to know if it is ok to send donations to them. Or if anyone here on the website knows them please let me know. I have never heard of them before. Thanks. Stay warm Zenny and my fingers are crossed for you my darlin’. Always loving you, Tammi

Good evening Zen and Dottie! I know you’re both ‘busy’ right now and we’ll hear from you in a few days.
I just wanted to tell you to have a wonderful night. Get tucked in tight…hoping to hear good news this week.
Nighty night, gorgeous.

Good evening , Zenyatta
I trust your day went well. After a trying morning things calmed down, cat’s back, so everything’s back to normal :)
Looks like you got to retire just in time, news bits and pieces suggest trouble ahead for your active racing buddies. I imagine an industry which enjoyed exclusiveness is now struggling with the same.
The remedy is honoring you, Zenyatta, with a float at the next Rose Bowl Parade. People wanna see stuff, better racing coverage in the newspaper, I don’t think is going to help much, few people even read the paper anymore, yours truly is a dinosaur, a relic of a fancier of print, most get their info off the net. I hope it does :) But I think access to barns & horses & educational presentations about races, horses, pretty much what’s happening here, on this site has more of an impact. The exclusive industry has to lose its exclusiveness, sorry, but it’s time to rub elbows with the commoners. Heck, horses don’t care, they just wanna have fun, carrots, oats & mints, right Zetty, when money is short, no choice but to cohort. :) :) Be assured, dear girl, we, your fans are sitting on pins & needles in anticipation of the good news. :) :) :)
You have a real good night, and sweet dreams of carrots & mints <3<3<3

Hi Zenny: Happy Monday!! I have my fingers, toes along with your hooves crossed. I am counting the days!!!
@Dani: I read your post at work and that was a mistake. It took everything I had to fight back the tears. What a beautiful heartfelt post you wrote.

Does anyone think Queen Z misses any of her former life? It seems links such a change I wonder what she makes of it all?

@Dani, you nailed it! — especially your first one here, about the whole diary. Thanks.

Beautiful Zenyatta, Have been without my computer since diary post #93!-so sad. But it is up and running again and I spent most all of Monday reading each post and all the lovely comments from your adoring fans. The icing on the cake was post #100. How incredible that John and Steve thought to do this for your public and what a ride it is. Your ears are so expressive and I could tell you were right in tune with Steve. I want a duplicate of Sophie to love, how cute is she. And to dear Dottie, who spends so much of her valuable time staying the course to provide us with these insightful passages into Zenyatta’s life, you give us great hope, inspiration and joy. What a wonderful world.

@Tamyatta, Here is Castleton Ranch’s web site. It looks like a pretty good outfit. They are listed on the IRS website as a public 501c3 charity (always the first thing to look for).

I am sure that Zenyatta would approve if you want to send them a donation.

@lisa, she may miss a few things—certain people and horses—but she seems pretty darn content to me. She still gets fussed over by humans, but she also gets lots of equine company, which she clearly loves.

Good morning Z, said a prayer for you that you are happy and in good health, and hope you receive good news tomorrow. But no matter we all still love you. Does anyone know about Z’s posse, Alyce, Pirate Queen, and Sea Gull. Have they been bred yet and if they have who to.

Good morning Dear Girl another sun shining day here in East Liverpool. The children enjoyed your video. They said things like look at her hair and they commented on your ears moving a lot. We ALL love your ears. I hope you have a beautiful day and pray for you to be in foal. Love and many HUGS and KISSES from Shari and classroom 215 in Ohio XXXOOO
PS Dawn I will read that now I hope all is going well with you. Even though we have never met I feel a connection to you and you are in my thoughts and prayers each and every day. God Bless YOU :)

Dawn it was so Awesome talking to ANN she sent each one of my students a Z ornament with their names on the box and Love Z in the other cornor. Each ornament was wrapped in ribbon the color of Zenyatta’s racing silks. I called to thank her and she was so down to earth. Our newspapers around here did articles about it. Well class is starting take care sweetie, Shari :)

@Linda thank you so much for the kind words. Zenyatta’s love just spreads and spreads. Have a good day :)

Anxiously/patiently waiting for good news. :)

@LauraJ-I couldn’t agree more. I think Z is loving her new life. I was probably one of the doubters …that she would have a difficult time transitioning, but Z has proved me wrong. It’s apparent in videos and descriptions of her life that she is quite content. It’s also quite apparent that her handlers there have fallen in love with her too, which will make Z’s new life that much better. I believe that she will always want/enjoy that human interaction.

And a shout out to Rachel Alexandra. Broodmare’s rule ;)

@Dani, March 7: Couldn’t express it any better. As a longtime horse owner and TB breeder, I just want to say a special THANK YOU to Team Zenyatta for all they have done to give the public access to this wonderful horse. This video was a real topper and I, too, watched with tears in my eyes. Am eagerly awaiting baby news.
Valeria Cannon
@Barbara Wood, thanks for the concern, really appreciate the kind words. Funny thing happened while in the hospital, I was beginning to work on my laptop and my cousin saw my wallpaper, and asked me who Zenyatta was. While explaining to her about the World Champion (IMHO), my roommate spoke up and started talking about her (what a small world), too. That’s when my cousin asked me to join her in going to the Kentucky Derby this year, maybe get to tour some of the farms while we are there! Maybe even get to see the Queen, wooo hooo! Definitely will visit Kentucky Horse Park and Old Friends, would love to get to Darley and Lane’s End, this will be sooo much fun!!!!
Anyway, came home from hospital last night, still on bedrest, but feeling much, much better!
Congrats to Curlin and Rachel, hoping for a healthy, and happy foal!! Now for the little prince/princess…..
Wonder how Life is Sweet is doing???

Hi Zenny,
So looking forward to baby news! I love that fact that Rags to Riches will be your baby’s auntie!
Not sure if I can get this info from your folks but I’ll be traveling to LA for the Santa Anita Derby weekend and I want to drop off a few bags of clothes for the ladies in the Zenyatta lounge and maybe some cash donations. How might I arrange that? I have some good jeans that I’ve outgrown (sigh) shirts and a really nice pair of hardly worn cowboy boots. All are in very good shape and would be perfect for hardworking gals.
Well – I’m sure you’re busy with other things! I’ll call Santa Anita again and see if I can get some information about that. They haven’t called me back yet…
Looking forward to Post 101.
Much love to you and your family.
Bonnie H.
Love you Z! U R amazing!!!! :)

Hi Sweet Zenny!
I’ve been so busy at work but I’ve finally made the time to post comments.
The firt time I watched you race “live” was at Del Mar 8/2/08 when you won your 7th straight race. I took some beautiful photos of you with the pink saddle cloth #8!!
My other incredible moment was when I made the “Queen Zenyatta” poster and Ann Moss tapped me on the shoulder to join Team Zenyatta in the winner’s circle!!!
Of course watching you win the Breeders’ Cup Classic in 2009 made me burst into tears of joy!! I was there and I proudly carried my other Queen Zenyatta poster with the crown!!
Last, but no least, my first visit with you one-on-one was Easter Sunday 2010! “You’re John” let me and a friend come and visit you. I have photos of you LOOKING AT MY POSTERS!! You are so smart!! We watched you work out on the dirt track because you were preparing for the Apple Blossom :-)
Thank you, Zenny, for the wonderful memories to last me a lifetime. Thank you for being YOU!!
HUGS & KISSES XOXO Judy
liz mahoney
patiently or somewhat patiently awaiting your next post, I keep looking for a new one!
Karey R
@ Liz, I know what you mean by “somewhat patiently” waiting. We’re trying so hard to be polite guests here, and we’re all so very appreciative of all that Team Z has done for us – TOTALLY ABOVE AND BEYOND! – yet we are chomping at the bit for news. Too cute!
Susan
I love this video-enjoyed how expressive your ears were and how professional but approachable you act. What fun to hear your cadence-stepping up the pace and slowing it down.
Hope you watched Zazu on Saturday-she was coming and just about made it -a few more strides and she would have won.
News about your motherhood status should be close-I have a REALLY good feeling about it.
Also, your guy’s offspring are doing really well-your foal should be VERY exciting.
Have a good day Z and thanks for the ride.
