GOOD MORNING TO ALL MY DEAR FRIENDS!
HAPPY DIARY #100! WOW! It has been an amazing time!
In thinking about this DIARY ENTRY, I really wanted to tie in so many of the past experiences we’ve shared and open the door for all of us to enjoy other unique moments together. I am one very, very fortunate HORSE! I’ve had an amazing racing career. I’ve received so many incredible acknowledgements and prestigious awards. Yet, most importantly, I have been completely BLESSED to be loved by so many wonderful people.
I’m now living in Kentucky. Hopefully I’ll find out soon about my IN FOAL status. I promise, I will definitely let YOU know the results as soon as possible!
To honor #100, I have one very ‘PRECIOUS’ experience of mine to share with you! My adorable JOHN helped ME put this together for YOU! Even though I was officially retired last November, I was still at BARN 55 for over a month before going to Lane’s End. During that time, it was necessary for me to exercise each day and stay in ‘somewhat’ my normal routine. I was a very fit athlete getting ready to ‘change my focus to farm life’…so John wanted to help ME with this transition and keep ME relaxed, fit and HAPPY!
On my last day of exercise while in California, John had a great idea. He had Steve wear the helmet cam while riding ME. MY ADORABLE JOHN thought it would be very special for ALL OF YOU to go on my LAST GALLOP WITH ME!
The next day, I moved to Kentucky and my daily routine changed to that of becoming a BROODMARE. In modern day terms, Dottie tells me that I am in the process of RESTRUCTURING MY CAREER! TOO CUTE! I think I’m doing quite well at this!
I truly can’t THANK ALL OF YOU enough for the continued LOVE, SUPPORT and ENCOURAGEMENT you have given ME! As I have stated many times before, I really could never have done it without MY TEAM and ALL OF YOU!
Again, HAPPY DIARY ENTRY #100! Please enjoy joining me at the racetrack for MY LAST GALLOP!
Check out the video HERE!
With LOVE,
HUGS to ALL~(and I truly mean this)
Z
P.S. Dottie wanted me to let you know that we will take a few days and get ‘some business things organized’ and work on some future projects. Between all of this and counting the days on my ‘in foal status’, please keep thinking HOOVES CROSSED!

Thank you John for this wonderful video.

@ Librarian,
.
I can’t speak for Robin, but when my female friends write MUAH it’s intended as a smooch, or the sound of a kiss ;-)
.
On another note, nice maiden win today for HOTY Azeri’s daughter, Arienza.

That was so much fun, Queen Z! Thanks for sharing your last Hollywood gallop I appreciate so much still being able to get my daily “Zenyatta fix” in your blog. We miss you so much out here in California.

Dearest Zenyatta,
Even after all this time, you still bring tears to my eyes. It reminds me of when I saw you work out on November 23, 2010 and then got to meet and pet you at Barn 55! You even ate the carrots I brought. John was so welcoming and Steve explained everything. He made sure we all had individual photos taken with you. I still have mine on my refrigerator. I really miss you, Lady Z, but am so glad you are happy in your new home.
With much love,
Nancy

Zenyatta, what is it about you that moves people and changes them to the core… Priscilla Clark was so succinct when she said that you are transformative. Though, you are not racing anymore, you still are a powerful force in our lives. Hopefully we will be getting some good news this week. I can already see you watching your foal with pride and love. Sweet Dreams.
Roseann King
Thank you to all for the wonderful memories! Z I had the most delightful ride on my OTTB gelding, Robin, today. He sends his regards to you and his thanks. Watching you and Mario and how you interact has helped me a great deal in how I interact with Robin. He is definitely happier now that we are understanding each other better! Bless all of you! Have a great week!!

That was a cool video!!! Watching Zenny’s ears going back and forth and taking everything in. Waiting to hear the news of the baby. I will make it to Kentucky to see you someday.

100 Diary postings. How did we get here so fast? It seems almost like yesterday that you were preparing for the Breeder’s Cup. Through these past 100 Diary postings we’ve seen you immortlized on TV and in magazines, worshipped from one coast to the other and all around the world. We’ve seen you run the race of your life and outshadow the winner because so many fans and even those in the industry proclaimed you as one of the greatest racehorses ever. And we’ve seen you honored as that greatest horse by virtue of your Eclipse Award and the Vox Populi Award. We’ve seen you say farewells to thousands of fans in person and thousands and thousands more watching on their televisions, their adoration and feeling of closeness to you as strong as if they were there in person, so great is your goodness. And in a new home we’ve seen you take your first steps in snow and feel the frosty bite of winter. We’ve seen you make new friends both of the two legged and four legged kind. We’ve seen you take your first running strides as a free thorougbred. We’ve seen you buck up and jump for joy and whinny and we have seen what you look like after rolling around in the mud. We’ve seen you change from a world class race horse to a happily retired farm horse. We’ve learned many things from you about horses and their lives and the world around a horse barn. We’ve been treated to photos and videos that captured our hearts and kept you clutched to those hearts as we yearned to see you again. And through it all you have always been there for us, every step of the way so that we were able to share all these moments with you. 100 Diary postings. Your gift to us. And we will cherish them over and over even as we look forward to what lies in store for you and for us. Thank you Zenyatta. And thank you to Dottie for being your voice and for keeping this wonderful Diary and for Sarah and John for their photos and videos and for all of Team Z in CA and KY who have kept us in the forefront of your life. We are forever grateful.

@Dani-your post is beautiful & you put into words exactly how I feel about Zenyatta & her family. I am so happy they continue to share her with us. I have owned horses all my life but the expense of keeping a horse was too much. I have been horseless for a few years. Then I discovered Zenyatta. Now I have a piece of Zenyatta as does everyone here. She has captured our imaginations & taken us all on the ride of our lives. I could not love her more if she were mine. Happy 100th diary post to everyone!

Thanks Zenny for allowing me to see your last run. I had tears in my eyes knowing it was coming to an end. Watching this video was such a joy for me. I never thought I would get to see how it looks riding you. I can’t wait to hear how your doing as a broodmare. Good Luck and God Bless you. Hugs & Kisses

Good Morning Zenyatta from East Liverpool Middle School room 215. I will show the children that video. Wow I can’t imagine riding that fast on a horse. You fly and all I could think of was what Mike said, that you had more gears. I hope you have a beautiful day. The sun in shining. I am praying that we all hear good news soon. I also want to say that Sophie is so cute. I am a big dog lover. I have two and they are my children. We all love you Miss Zenyatta. Hugs and Kissess from classroom 215. Shari from Ohio XXXOOO

Sorry about kisses my fingers were flying :)

Dear Zenyatta ~ You are a treasure. Sounds like many of us have never seen you. I am hoping that Lanes End will have some sort of Zenyatta Day, so that we can book a flight to Lexington to finally meet you. I know they have to watch your health and take great care, but we are patient and will make the trip, when the time is right. Love Ya.

Love you Zenny and Happy 100th Post. This is going to be a BIG week for you and all your adoring fans. XOXOXOX – Tricia

Hellow Pretty Girl!

Wow. Just Wow. One hundred diary posts and perhaps one of the best ones ever. My computer has been difficult so I was not able to view the video until just moments ago and I find it so beautiful I am moved beyond words. Videos with the helmet cam give us an opportunity to see the view of Zenyatta as if we were on her back – I have long believed that the world looks so much better if I’m looking through a horse’s ears – :) She fills my heart and I am so grateful to all of you, Team Zenyatta, for your generosity and kindness in sharing this beautiful Queen. Thank you.

Top o’ the morning to you,
Zenyatta
I hope the first day of the week finds you and your paddock pals rompin’ & horsin’ around the paddock.
I have a couple of names for your foal,
how about ‘All In The Family’ or ‘Family Business’
carrying on the great racing tradition .
Just a thought. :) :)
Excuse me this morning, my cat slipped out, damn Bella Sprotte, or Sprotte Bella,
would not let me catch her, damn I hate that. Well, I keep you posted :( :(

Just read the article you posted. It’s the sad part of the racing industry. Makes what Zenyatta did in her career almost a miracle. Most of it was due to John Shirreff’s character and patience, Z’s talent and great luck avoiding injury. Hope other trainers stop rushing their horses to race before they are ready. There will always be sad, bad luck incidents, but some can be avoided with a little more patience and care of the horse.

Many of us have cried almost daily through 100 posts. Tears of delight, of tenderness, of loss and hope and love.
Our hearts have been expanded by a beautiful spirit named Zenyatta, and we have been transformed.
Evelyn
Had my 3 yr old grandaughter on lap while watching video. She loved the ride. She is a Zenyatta fan.
Susan
Zeny, what a great celebration there will be this week, if we get the news that you and Bernardini are soon to be parents. Karey, you have put into one sentence what many of us have attempted to describe in many words and comments… “Our hearts have been expanded by a beautiful spirit name Zenyatta, and we have been transformed.” Many of us have some sort of challenge(s) or another and Zenyatta has helped us to carry on with a lighter heart and more resolve. Thank you so much Zeny and Dottie.
Kim
Love the video! Can we see more videos, even if you’re not running, of your life now? Don’t think that it’s boring us – simply nice.
Maureen Slavin
Z- you are so beautiful!! Your mate Bernardini had a very good weekend. So many Bernardini’s won or placed this weekend. Bodes well for your first foal.
Dawn Deems
I will be “glued” to my computer on Wednesday to hear about your in-foal status!
Hugs and kisses from Ohio. XOXOXO

Just saw what is probably “old news” to many of you–that Rachel and Curlin are expecting. Hope we hear similar good news here this week. Love you always, big Z.
@Sharon Call–praying for your successful cataract surgery tomorrow.

@Dani – Wow!! You made those turtle tears fall again. What a beautiful post!
@Shari Voltz – Glad the sun is shining, it snowed here just a little last night. Left a message at the bottom of #99 for you, hope you read it.
