Good Morning,
I sincerely hope each of you had a lovely INDEPENDENCE DAY! Not only is it
a wonderful day to spend with family and friends…it is also so significant to remember
the true meaning of July 4th. It is important to reflect upon the history of our country
and appreciate the fact that we are so fortunate in so many ways!
I wanted to share this photo of MYSELF…even though it is not my “best” view….as
you can get an idea of how “I’m filling out a bit”. When I was racing, this is the side
I wanted everyone to see…as I ran past them to the finish line. Now it is interesting
to see from another point of view…my IN FOAL STATUS!
Dottie has requested that each month the farm keep her posted on my ‘weight’.
She wants to keep track of this with all of the other notes she maintains on my records.
Since I was bred on April 3rd, she feels the beginning of every month is the perfect time
to record this number. As soon as she hears the information from the farm, I know she will
share it with all of you.
The racing over the weekend was great fun. I know MY TEAM was very pleased with
Harmonious’ first race back. She finished beautifully in a very fast time yesterday…and
looked terrific. She really ran a wonderful race. My congratulations to all of the
winners over this holiday weekend.
I heard that it was really warm in California over the holiday, great swimming weather, and
it appeared to be a bit warm and rainy on the East Coast from all reports. It was rather
pleasant here in Kentucky. I truly enjoyed my time outdoors with my pals.
Enjoy your week and the ‘summer weather’.
With love,
Hugs to ALL~

I live that through the lens on V. That will give us an
Idea how Z will look with her foal. V towers over him.
V was sold for 10 million. Yes it is a business but he is
Going to replace her with E. Don Robinson was heartbroken
When V was sold because her dam is buried at Winter Farm. Also
Part of the deal with Coolmore is V will return to Winter farm
To be buried along side her dam.
@Judy B
Thanks for the clarification on the first article you posted
On Mo. I missed it.

I think all horses should have a TB line like Shutterfly.
It adds so much to every breed. You can tell how much
I love TB. They are just sooo special sensitive delicate
Full of heart courage and boldness and sometimes nutty
But that makes them TB.

A Prayer for those who would like one:
Guardian Angel
Watch over the names you can read in my heart.
Guard over them with every care
and make their way easy and their labours light.
Dry their tears if they weep;
Sanctify their joys;
Raise their courage if they weaken;
restore their hope if they lose heart,
their health if they be ill,
truth if they err.
Give our bodies restful sleep
and let the work we have done today
bear fruit in the tomorrows to come.

Zenny, you are as “breathtaking” as your moma, Vertigineux, as “dazzling” as your little sister, Eblouissante, and with a gloriously gentle and generous heart. And as we all must acknowledge, TOO CUTE to boot. We all love you so much and cherish you in our lives. I loved Jim Rome’s tweet when he was visiting you: “I’m here, kicking it with the Queen.” In spirit there is a veritable hoard of us “kicking it with the Queen.”

You look adorable as always! Still praying you’re baby is safe throughout this whole pregnancy (:

She looks beautiful, even from the back LOL! Great to see how well she is doing!

@DJ: That is a beautiful prayer <3
@Judy B: From yesterday: Thank you<3
@Kathy Kimber: That is SO sweet of you to ask about Lou! Good news- he hardly has any head tilt at all now and he has re-gained use of the muscles that move his "eyebrows" and is hardly drooling at all! We are so relieved!
@Ann: Congrats on your 47th anniversary!
@Margaret: Thank you for pointing out those markings on Z- I had never noticed them before- I guess the rest of her is so striking that I never got down that far!
@Dawn Conrad: "Fluffyness"-too funny! I am excited for you on your upcoming trip!
@Terry Crow: Loved the joke AND the George Carlin/Lone Ranger story! I saw George Carlin in person in 1973 in Chicago-he was hysterical!
@Sherry Drish: Funny story about your first foal! And you still have him- how wonderful!! We were farm-sitting 14 years ago for a friend. Her mare was nearing the end of gestation but was not expected to give birth "any time soon"-haha. We had never seen a horse give birth so we read "Blessed Are The Broodmares"(that Margaret has referenced). My daughter and I had literally just finished the last chapter when Maggie started acting somewhat restless and showing some other signs of early labor. My daughter (who was in undergrad at the time) had run home to get more clean towels. Maggie(who was very experienced and I'm sure recognized that we were definite rookies) came over where I was sitting on hay bales reviewing the stages of labor and laid down at my feet and her water promptly broke. I won't go on but everything ended up fine and we have had that 14 year old 'colt' ever since and he is so dear to us!
@Sarah Powell: See above! I love that you still have both your babies at 10 and 11!
@Sharon Call:Now I'm not sure if I actually posted it yesterday or just thought about it, but WE were at the 1996 Summer Olympics dressage competition, too! It wasn't the ribbon event-one of the earlier rounds-but we were speechless!
Also, I loved George Carlin, too-see above. He was brilliant with words.
@ our beautiful Zenyatta: You look gorgeous, as always! I agree with someone above who said this is the most-watched equine gestation in history! We are so lucky! Congrats to your friend Harmonious on her great race! You run with a fast crowd :)
@Dottie and ALL of Team Z:I am so thankful for what you do for Zenny, racing and US! You are amazing <3
@Sarah: Thank you for the great photos that help us stay in touch with Z. That baby has a lot of aunties and uncles out here who are eager to keep up with the blessed event!
@ All my Z friends: Thank you for the great posts-you are special people!
@KARI B: Hope the move went well-rest up!

@margaret: The little black spots in the white socks, and/or just above the hoof line are called ermine spots (I guess because the ermine fur looks that way). I just think it’s sexy! I love ermine spots on horses!
diastu in – um, maybe New Mexico given the 80mph winds that just tore through here! Hope my neighbors like “their” “new” patio furniture – it looks kinda good on their roof – – – .

@DJ: If Terry Crow is “The Joker”, then you are “The Deacon/ess”. That was a beautiful prayer. Thank you.

I am so thankful to come home to this site where I can read what the family has posted for this day. It has been a long day, but here I can just relax and enjoy.
@Zenyatta – You look wonderful at any angle. Granted no woman wants her picture taken from the back, but if I had your looks I would not even blink. You look as if you are enjoying yourself, and that is what you should be doing after your illustrious racing career.
@Terry Crow – What a fragile ego movie stars have, and they get more money than the animals. The Lone Ranger material is priceless. Do you remember when Clayton Moore was told he could no longer wear the mask, so he wore sunglasses from that point on.
@Kathy Kimber – Thank you for your post about thanking Michael.
@Josh Groban – Love his voice and watching him on television.
@Ann – Happy anniversary and may you have many more.
@Movie Ladyhawk – It is one of my favorite movies partly because of the two horses that were in it. They looked like they were Andalusians. One was black, ridden by actor Rutger Hauer who called him Goliath. Towards the end of the movie there is a fight scene in the great hall between Hauer and another actor. The other horse that appeared in that seen was absolutely gorgeous. Does anyone know if they were indeed Andalusians?

TOO CUTE Zenyatta! That “view” is what everyone saw when you passed them on the track! ;-) You are looking “GREAT”! Take care and thanks for the update and pictures! We miss you!
Hugs and kisses to you and “baby Z”!
Elizabeth
Zenyatta, you look marvelous from every direction, and it’s wonderful to see you becoming a bit rounder. Thanks, Dottie, for the updates about our favorite. Thank-you also to those who posted links to videos of Shutterfly, whom I’ve admired for years, and of Fuego’s amazing performance. No wonder he got a standing “O”!

@Laura J, thank you for that wonderful Weg post of Fuego and Totilas, they are so equally magnificent I couldn’t have picked a winner, it should have been a tie!
@Judy Gadwood, thank you for the whale post I had goosebumps when she started her leaping for joy. What a thrill for them that they could save her. I just love whales!!

@Charlotte Farmer, re: Ladyhawke, the grey horse is an Andalusian. I don’t know his name. The black horse “Goliath” was played by a Friesian stallion named Othello. The movie is credited with stimulating interest in the Friesian breed in the U.S. Both Andalusians and Friesians are “Baroque” breeds, along with Lusitanos, Lippizans, and a few rarer breeds. Both breeds have abundant hair and powerfully arched necks. Friesians have feathers on their legs whereas Andalusians do not. Friesians are a bit heavier. Both breeds are known for their good temperaments and their abilities at classical dressage. Friesians especially make good carriage horses.

@Charlotte Farmer–I certainly remember Clayton Moore being told he couldn’t wear the mask. The rights to the Lone Ranger character were sold to a movie studio so that it could make a new film called The Legend of the Lone Ranger. The star of that movie was an actor by the name of Klinton Spilsbury. Michael Horse played Tonto. These guys marched in the Rose Parade right before the film was released and were booed as everyone knew the story about Moore at that time. Clayton Moore WAS the Lone Ranger and he took the role seriously, wearing his outfit everywhere. All the producers of the film had to do was insert a scene in which the old Ranger, Moore, handed the reins to the new Ranger. Since a court ruled that Moore could not make appearances wearing the mask, he wore sun glasses.

Hi Zenny, from a hotel close to Hollywood Park!! It was fun to watch Harmonious run the other day. She was really coming on strong down the stretch! I saw John and Dottie and they looked great! Thanks over and over again to Team Z for the thrill that is Zenyatta!

You look marvelous in your condition. Do we know if you are having a boy or girl? Do you having food cravings???? I know that sounds silly,but I’m a big Z fan. I miss your racing. I feel a part of you in my heart.
Have a great day, Queen Z.

Dawn——2 wonderful restaurants in Lexington are, Wallace Station, out Old Frankfort Pike, past lots of beautiful horse farms, including Darby Dan, and Windy Corners, at the intersection of Bryan Station Rd & Muir Rd, they have some neat horsey items there & lots of local items you can buy. Food is generous & very good. Have a good time on your trip.

@Lil from KY, maybe you know this already, but there’s a horse named Wallace Station living at Old Friends. He’s named after the restaurant.

You have the best bootie in the world so why not flaunt it? An offspring of your boy Bernadini won from last to first by a nose…(sound familiar?) on Monday at Belmont Park. His name is Break Up the Game. It was a thriller and one you would enjoy,Z girl. First time on the turf! Keep an eye on his progress.
Nice two days here in the Northeast … finally.
Enjoy your grazing and special visitors.
Yvonne and Maurice Kirby
Hi Zenyatta – you look fabulous, your foal weight is so becoming!!! Love you big girl. Have fun grazing and being with your friends, human and equine alike. Harmonious ran fantastic and she is so beautiful. Love you, Angel in Disguise.
