Good Morning,
I sincerely hope each of you had a lovely INDEPENDENCE DAY! Not only is it
a wonderful day to spend with family and friends…it is also so significant to remember
the true meaning of July 4th. It is important to reflect upon the history of our country
and appreciate the fact that we are so fortunate in so many ways!
I wanted to share this photo of MYSELF…even though it is not my “best” view….as
you can get an idea of how “I’m filling out a bit”. When I was racing, this is the side
I wanted everyone to see…as I ran past them to the finish line. Now it is interesting
to see from another point of view…my IN FOAL STATUS!
Dottie has requested that each month the farm keep her posted on my ‘weight’.
She wants to keep track of this with all of the other notes she maintains on my records.
Since I was bred on April 3rd, she feels the beginning of every month is the perfect time
to record this number. As soon as she hears the information from the farm, I know she will
share it with all of you.
The racing over the weekend was great fun. I know MY TEAM was very pleased with
Harmonious’ first race back. She finished beautifully in a very fast time yesterday…and
looked terrific. She really ran a wonderful race. My congratulations to all of the
winners over this holiday weekend.
I heard that it was really warm in California over the holiday, great swimming weather, and
it appeared to be a bit warm and rainy on the East Coast from all reports. It was rather
pleasant here in Kentucky. I truly enjoyed my time outdoors with my pals.
Enjoy your week and the ‘summer weather’.
With love,
Hugs to ALL~

Anyone interested in Show Jumping. Here is a video of Shutterfly a german Hanovarian, who is now 18 still winning the Grand Prix circuit. He has TB bloodlines and acts very much like one with racing style tendencies. In fact when Meredith got him at 6 she was going to sell him because he acted to much like a race horse and she was concerned he could not settle before the fences.
He is finicky and is ridden with a loose rein, but what a dynamo.

Yes, I noticed it was the same only from a different breeding farm. It is fun watching Z grow. It will soo fun to see her with a foal. The pictures of her mom with a foal give us an idea. And she will for sure be teaching it some racing techniques.

Dear Abigail in Montreal:
You’re welcome. The Galileo colt should be a beauty. Did you see the video on Sea the Stars that I linked on Diary #287 or #288. I can’t remember. It shows him on the farm and they discuss his personality and racing record. Hugs, J.B.

Harmonious did really well yesterday. You look great Queen Z. Definitely, I see baby bump. I love you. Hugs and kisses!

Looking forward to Part 3 and Quiet American. Oh yes!!! I forgot Rags recent foal is from Galileo. He is sooo awesome.
Was “V” bred again this year? I know for the last two years it has been to Henry the Navigator.

@Sharon Call, Fuego XII is a Pura Raza Espanola (PRE), Pure Spanish Horse, commonly known as the Andalusian. (The distinction has something to do with stud books and registries).

Zenyatta, it goes without saying that that is a really great picture of you. You are showing your in foal status. I hope you had a great 4th of July weekend. I did despite the fact that I had to work and couldn’t catch much horseracing. I went to the fireworks in the evening and caught horseracing after I got home. Congratulations to your barn 55 buddies who ran at Hollywood Park yesterday. Too bad I didn’t see it, but it sounds like they did pretty well. Keep up the good work in raising money for charity. I’ll bet you enjoyed the treats those 2 women gave you.
