Good Morning,
I sincerely hope each of you had a lovely INDEPENDENCE DAY! Not only is it
a wonderful day to spend with family and friends…it is also so significant to remember
the true meaning of July 4th. It is important to reflect upon the history of our country
and appreciate the fact that we are so fortunate in so many ways!
I wanted to share this photo of MYSELF…even though it is not my “best” view….as
you can get an idea of how “I’m filling out a bit”. When I was racing, this is the side
I wanted everyone to see…as I ran past them to the finish line. Now it is interesting
to see from another point of view…my IN FOAL STATUS!
Dottie has requested that each month the farm keep her posted on my ‘weight’.
She wants to keep track of this with all of the other notes she maintains on my records.
Since I was bred on April 3rd, she feels the beginning of every month is the perfect time
to record this number. As soon as she hears the information from the farm, I know she will
share it with all of you.
The racing over the weekend was great fun. I know MY TEAM was very pleased with
Harmonious’ first race back. She finished beautifully in a very fast time yesterday…and
looked terrific. She really ran a wonderful race. My congratulations to all of the
winners over this holiday weekend.
I heard that it was really warm in California over the holiday, great swimming weather, and
it appeared to be a bit warm and rainy on the East Coast from all reports. It was rather
pleasant here in Kentucky. I truly enjoyed my time outdoors with my pals.
Enjoy your week and the ‘summer weather’.
With love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z

Zenny, you look great from any angle. Thanks for keeping us posted about your “IN FOAL” condition.

Happy Summer to you Z…. us fans love that side of you….we loved it when you showed it to the rest of the horses during a race. Now that side of you will be great for being in foal. We love you Z…hugs to you…love seeing the pictures of you at the farm!! Thanks to everyone who helps you get them on here to us.

OK Little Girl!! Admit it – you were fishing for compliments right? Well, you got them Girl because you look gorgeous. I’ve heard that when you’re “with child” all females look beautiful. In your case, it’s obviously true. Love you…and yes, you look way TOO CUTE?
Mary Lee
You Look Fabulous Zenny! Dazzling in fact!! Take care of yourself and your little one! :o)

@Terry Crow–my favorite joke so far is the horse giving automotive advice. Still laughing. Keep ’em coming.
@Kathy Kimber–will do. Good idea.
Sue Fredrick
Hi girlfriend, you look too good to be true! I think you are blossoming into a beautiful broodmare, which is an important new career for you as only the cream of the crop should be reproducing babies. I love Ebby will anxiously await her debut on the track, I hope maybe later this year.
@Judy B thank you so much for posting the “Fuego” Dressage video he is absolutely stunning. We used to show a horse in dressage, it is very difficult and amazingly beautiful to watch. It was one of the reasons I fell in love with Zenny when I first saw her dancing around the paddock.
Luv you Z and a kiss on your nose

Dear Sue Fredrick:
We were at Saratoga once and they had a Dressage horse doing a show between races. There was music accompanying him. We loved it; just beautiful. Hugs, J.B.

@Lisa g-My daughter lives in Texas near Fort Worth. Glad your group enjoyed those old chestnuts.@Kathy Kimber–Your sentiments about Noor echo mine. @Judy Berube-Carlin told that story on the Letterman show and I believe that you tube has a video of it. I’m no good at links so you are on your own. I’m sure it is much funnier the way he tells it.
Terry Crow
@Judy Berube–I had a senior moment. The comedian who told the Lone Ranger story on Letterman was Jay Thomas, not George Carlin. No wonder I am no good at providing links.

Senators Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Senator Lindsey Graham of SC have both filed a proposed bill to shut down the borders to The SOuth and the North and the transport of horsesto theselocations for slaughter. Take a moment to send emails or lettersshowingyour support of this bill to both of these It is time to stop the madness, this is not political, THIS IS ABOUT “THE HORSE”.
Love ya Z
Sally (B)
Your simply irresistable Z!! I love this angle of a picture and with your baby bump! They say “beauty is only skin deep”; but you are Miss Personality and Miss Congeniality along with your other great “assets” of beauty. love with two kisses on your soft nose

@Judy Gerube. Oh my gosh, Fuego is truly beautiful. Do you know his breed? Lipizzaner, Andalusian? He looks Lipizzaner to me. I went to the 1996 Olympic Dressage ribbon event here in Atlanta and was just star-struck.
@Terry Crow. Loved Carlin all of his career. I wish people knew more about him other than the words you can’t say on TV. He wrote all his own material, sometimes working on it for a year or two before he used it. This man loved words and knew so well how to use them. I miss him.
@Nancy and Pam. Here is a link that I got from Judy Berube that follows the gestation of the foal. It’s really interesting and you’ll see that Z’s foal is only about the size of a hamster or a chipmunk – not really big enough yet to make a baby bump. According to this site, that’s some time away yet. Z is filling out in fine broodmare fashion, just where Lane’s End wants her. Hope you enjoy the link.

Zenny, any view of YOU is awesome and it’s kind of nice to see the view that every horse in your 19 races got to see as you crossed the line. Baby Z is obviously doing well on that luscious Blue Grass and it’s so cute that Matt hand grazes you – I think I recognize his legs in that photo, another great shot by Sarah. Being an expectant Mom obviously suits YOU, you are glowing. Perhaps when Dottie tells us what your new weight is she could also tell us how much she and John expect you to gain. I think you are so brave to let us know about your weight, I try to keep mine secret, even from myself!!!! Enjoy your lazy, hazy days of summer. Great big hugs and kisses from Fort Erie.

@Hello Judy B. Thanks for the link on Uncle Mo. So glad to hear he is getting well. Marilu

There actually is an article on why the mosses chose Bernardini for Zenyatta:

Enjoy !!!!

Here is the foal development chart Dottie posted in February 2011 similar to Judy B’s only from Mare Meadows.
http://www.maremeadows.com/Articles/foaldev.htm
I believe Zenny’s foal is now a fetus and between the size of a chipmunk (80 days) and a rabbit (150 days). She needs the extra weight so when fetus begins growth spurt there will be enough to support the rapid growth.

Dear Zenny,
You look absolutely gorgeous from any angle. This is a good angle to see your haunches are filling in and you are not pushing off from the starting gate anymore. Loved those hind end shots.
Sooo glad they are hand grazing and taking such good care of you. XXXXOOOO Keep that fetus warm and healthy!!!!
suew
Zenny, What a wonderful picture of YOU taken by Sarah. We are so lucky to have these updates…they are a bright spot in the day for so many of us. You look great…but then you have never taken a bad picture from any angle. You will be an awesome mother…these next few months will fly by and the little one will be at your side before we know it.
judy berube
To Terry Crow:
I’ll see if I can find that video. Hugs, J.B.

Zenny, once again we have a stunning pictue of you from Sarah. Thanks for giving us another update on your daily status. How interesting your new life must be….the journey will be interesting for all of us to follow.

Zenny: You just look BEAUTIFUL! Shining with maternal bliss. Clearly, you’re going to be a poster girl even when you’re a granny! I see these shots of you and fall in love with you all over again. Kisses and more kisses, Zen the Great.
@ Mary Bobolis: Great post! Oddly enough, my last piece on The Vault will include something on the handsome Quiet American. Hopefully, I’ll finish up with it tomorrow.
@Judy Berube: Thanks for all the great links. I hadn’t checked Haskin today and went off to read his piece on Aidan O’Brien and his stable of stars. Wonderful as usual. He’s always a super read! Thought I should add that Rags To Riches last foal was a Galileo colt. This is going to be a WOW! Munchkin for sure!!!
@ Ann Maree: Too cute re: most-watched gestation!
To all Zen Nation: So much fun to read everyone’s comments and follow the links. Thank you!!!
Sharon Call
@signofthetimes. You’re right about the size of the foal. I didn’t count it right. Actually, the link you posted is almost exactly the same the one that Judy found for me. It’s all so interesting especially when we get so many pictures of Z and watch the transition.
