Good Morning,
I sincerely hope each of you had a lovely INDEPENDENCE DAY! Not only is it
a wonderful day to spend with family and friends…it is also so significant to remember
the true meaning of July 4th. It is important to reflect upon the history of our country
and appreciate the fact that we are so fortunate in so many ways!
I wanted to share this photo of MYSELF…even though it is not my “best” view….as
you can get an idea of how “I’m filling out a bit”. When I was racing, this is the side
I wanted everyone to see…as I ran past them to the finish line. Now it is interesting
to see from another point of view…my IN FOAL STATUS!
Dottie has requested that each month the farm keep her posted on my ‘weight’.
She wants to keep track of this with all of the other notes she maintains on my records.
Since I was bred on April 3rd, she feels the beginning of every month is the perfect time
to record this number. As soon as she hears the information from the farm, I know she will
share it with all of you.
The racing over the weekend was great fun. I know MY TEAM was very pleased with
Harmonious’ first race back. She finished beautifully in a very fast time yesterday…and
looked terrific. She really ran a wonderful race. My congratulations to all of the
winners over this holiday weekend.
I heard that it was really warm in California over the holiday, great swimming weather, and
it appeared to be a bit warm and rainy on the East Coast from all reports. It was rather
pleasant here in Kentucky. I truly enjoyed my time outdoors with my pals.
Enjoy your week and the ‘summer weather’.
With love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z

@Mary Barbolis, here is the link to the article that appeared at DRF Feb. 3 by Glenye Cain Oakford, called “Seeing Shades of Zenyatta in her half-sister”: http://www.drf.com/news/seeing-shades-zenyatta-her-half-sister
Wonderful interview with Don Robinson, farm manager for both Zenyatta and Eblouissante.

Belated Happy 4th to everyone. My husband Morris and I celebrated our 47th anniversary on the 4th. Boy does time fly. His birthday is April 3rd and Z was bred on April 3rd. What a birthday present. Love the picture and Z is too cute.

Well sweetheart, you are now eating for two. Doesn’t mean you have to eat like a horse….oh, I guess it does. Go ahead!

Hope everyone had a Happy 4th!! Z Girl–have a wonderful day with the sun on your back and a soft breeze to ruffle your mane—LOVE YOU!!!!

Right above Z’s right front shoe you see a tan horizontal line. Those are the heel bulbs if I remember my anatomy right. On the top side (out of view of the camera) are two little white spots on each side. Usually invisible on race day and would be covered by the time she reached the paddock in any event.
I remember being struck by seeing that at barn 55 right before Z left for Kentucky. I had never seen those markings.
Also she has some black circles on her hind legs where the white socks are. And around the bottom of the foot in the area of the coronet band she has up and down black markings.
The coronet band is that area where the hair on the legs end and the hoof begins.

Dear Zenyatta- I love the full view photo of you standing there. I noticed that we had not really seen “all” of you for a while now… But you look wonderful, I think it’s great that Dottie is requesting and keeping track of your weight on a monthly basis… I’m sure it will be part of the baby book she will keep for you and your foal – just like a mommy would for her baby… TOO CUTE.
I am so excited to see your photo and knowing how great you look. Enjoy your time with your pals and please keep safe and happy.
Love you and miss you so much!!!!
Marty
You still look amazing.

Hi Zenny ,that has allways been your “best” side! @ LauraJ. -I’m about 5 post behind with reading the comments. When I commented on Steps race,I was watching the race and had not read that you sold him. sorry about that! I hope that you get a piece of a beautiful stakes horse that runs at your local track!! Good luck.

Oh Zenny, every side is just fabulous. Just remember, “that” side is what helped you with your Final Kick to pass the others like they were standing still.
Didn’t have to work today so got to check your diary early but will check back later to see the rest of the posts.
@Karen Gogue–emailed you *wink wink* :)
Carole
Zenyatta, you are just TOO CUTE.
@Lynn Martin, the site for the embryo is horserepro.com – hope it is the correct site you are looking for.
Love to Zenny. XOXOXO

You look lovely from every side, Deary! It has been pretty hot here in California, but it stayed cool for a while there (some thing to smile about)! Love you, Zenny!

Dearest Sweet “Z” and little “z”,
I always say, “a well-endowed Caboose is a sign of great intelligence…just look at Zenyatta!” It looks like the two of you are off to a great start enjoying a beautiful day!
……………………………………
Khc: Thank you for thinking of me. I have only one of Josh G.’s CD’s and like it very much. I will now search for the War AT Home song. I also appreciated the charming story of ‘Sparkler Proof George’. He sounds like a real fire-cracker! A force to be reckoned with :)
…………………………………..
JB: My favorite Josh G. song TOO! If I DO Say So Myself! Hugs DJ
…………………………………..
Sue Noel: You can always use e-mail! That’s what I did yesterday evening. I thought I was “Dead Last!” :)
……………………………………Carol Lake: You are right! Our well-mannered “Z” does eat like a horse, but at least she doesn’t ‘Wolf it down!’ :)

Dear Zeny: Thank you so much for the information on Harmonious. I am a fan of hers too. I have several pictures with her. I was so lucky she was grazing with you by the tree when I came to see you. So happy she did well.
By the way, today I got a copy of the May issue of Reader’s Digest that featured you in Best of America. I was waiting for my eye appointment when I saw the picture of a beautiful horse – I told myself it had to be you! My doctor was kind enough to give it to me. Take good care of yourself. Hugs and prayers going your way, Marilu

We love you Zenny, from 360 degree angles–any angle. I hope your pregnancy goes smoothly!
Love,
Sue
Katie Clawson
Z, you look wonderful! I can not wait to see your foal! You are going to be such a great mom! I hope you and your friends had a great 4th of July. Stay safe and healthy, Zenny!
Love, Katie(future jockey)

@Judy Berube–I’m not afraid to admit it. I like Josh Groban. Loved your joke about horses taking hundreds of people for a ride. @Charlotte Farmer–Francis the Mule? Loved that guy. when Donald O’Connor quit making the films he complained that the mule was getting more fan mail than he was. The last Francis movie had Mickey Rooney as his pal. @DJ-Hope this doesn’t offend any one. The Lone Ranger and Tonto are surrounded by a band of Indians who are getting ready to charge. Well, Tonto, says the Ranger, it looks like curtains for us. We will never survive this.Tonto then says What do you mean we, white man?
Sarah Powell
Oh, Zenny – every side of you is your “best” view – you can’t take a bad pic from any angle! Glad your weight is being monitored so closely, it’s important to keep you healthy! Congrats to your pal Harmonious – she ran a good race. Hope you had a restful holiday. (thanks Dottie and Sarah)
@Ann Happy Anniversary
@Mary Bobolis enjoyed reading the info posted.
@Sherry Drish I can identify with your story of being a basket case. My first foal came to me unexpectedly in a rescued mare. She came with a 5-month colt and little did I know that she was already in foal again. Had no idea when she was due and just had to take a stab based on the age of the colt that came along with her. The last months were nerve racking to say the least. She did fine – me, not so much! I lost her in 2007 to Cushing’s disease but still have both geldings ages 10 and 11!
Nancy
“Whoa Nellie” Zenyatta, you are way pregnant as shown in your picture today! Cheers to your health!, your gal pal, Nancy
