Happy March Madness to Everyone!
As you all know, I am a huge SPORTS FAN! I have always loved competition and being an athlete…so I admire people who do the WORK it takes to perform at a HIGH LEVEL in athletic competition. I love SPORTS! March is particularly fun as it is the beginning of March Madness in College Basketball. Dottie printed out the GRID for me to follow the games. What a great time!
The teams who play around my BARN 55 home are UCLA and USC. San Diego State seems to be a team to really follow this year. They look to be one of the top contenders. Many sportscasters feel they can make it to the FINAL FOUR. Their campus is located a bit down the freeway from Del Mar where I’ve raced in the summer. Such FUN!
Now, living in Kentucky I have noticed that this is a real BASKETBALL STATE. Between the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the University of Louisville Cardinals, there is always some great basketball to follow. So, in your free time, print your grid…and enjoy the games.
I’ll be watching and following MARCH MADNESS with all of my friends here at Lane’s End. I know Dottie and John will be doing the same at home! Since I’m a HORSE and don’t have an Alma Mater to cheer for…I will be following my HOME teams…both CA and KY. Good Luck to each participant in the Tournament! Work hard and remember to have fun with it!
On another note, I wanted to take a few moments and answer some of your questions. I asked my Lane’s End friends about LIFE IS SWEET! She has not foaled yet. Due soon…but no baby yet. I’ll keep you posted. She is in foal to Smart Strike! Hooves Crossed for my dear friend and her soon-to-be foal!
For those of you who inquired about the Diary Entry numbers, the first set went from # 1-100. This series is beginning with #201 and moving forward. I just wanted to set this group apart from the first one. It is an entirely different series to capture a new chapter in my life. For those of you who asked about this…you did not miss any of them. You are TOO CUTE and VERY SWEET to ask!
Also, I’d like to thank Mathea Kelley for the piece she did in THE BLOODHORSE about ME titled “ZENYATTA LOOKING GOOD”! The photos are fabulous, in my opinion. (Blush, Blush!) I think I look really PLAYFUL in my cute snowy whiskers close-up and then very sophisticated and dignified in several of the other photos. I hope you enjoy them!

We are working on the Z pins and continuing to work out things on the web-site to make it EASIER and FUN for you. We are trying hard to FIX the INTERNET/FACEBOOK problem for you. Thanks for your patience!
Have a wonderful day! Get out your grids and be picking YOUR TEAMS! Who do you think will make it to the FINAL FOUR…and then WIN it ALL? SUCH FUN!
With love,
Hugs to ALL~

Oh WOW! I just checked my FACEBOOK PAGE. I have over 69,000 FRIENDS. I am SO EXCITED!

Hi Zen,
I love the picture of you with your frozen whiskers! But thankfully the warmer weather is starting to show itself!
We finally got rid of alot of the snow we had on the ground since right after Christmas :) It is soooo nice to see the grass again!
I am a Notre Dame fan so I’m going with the IRISH. GO ND!

Hi Zenny-
I love March Madness!! I loved seeing the photos of you all dirty and then getting your bath before Ann came to see you on her special visit- so lucky and Too Cute. You bring me so much joy and the diary is always uplifting and fun to read. Thank you Zenny for sharing your thoughts with Dottie. Also, thanks Z for being such a great horse and following sports the way you do – such fun and you do take such great photos – Thanks for sharing them with us!!! Please do keep us up to date with Life is Sweet. And do tell—- Will you’re team find out if you are going to have a COLT or a FILLY when the embryo is big enough to tell the sex of the foal—- or will it be a surprise to us all at the same time??? I mean most parents want to find out as soon as possible to pick the right name. And other parents want to be surprised and happy with a healthy baby. Just wondering what your Team might decide when the time comes.
With all my Love and Hugs to you Queen Zenyatta until later, be safe.

Here in SC (ACC Conference) March madness dominates especially since Clemson plays in the first round tonight – so say a little cheer for the Tigers since none of your teams are playing tonight! The pictures are wonderful but it’s impossible to take a bad picture of you. To Dottie, I received an message from Kulin regarding all the problems we have been experiencing with facebook/diary posts. I can’t believe you took the time to read and refer the problem to him. As I told him, that is just an example of the kind of people associated with Z and one of the reasons that her fans have been able to stay involved with her “doings”. You truly must be an exceptional person writing for an exceptional horse!! Thank you.

Oh Zenyatta, I love your snowy whiskers and the stroll with your gal pals. You look mar…velous darling. Enjoy March Madness. Luv ya Queen Z.

Great pictures of you! Hope the water in the hose was WARM. I found a blog with an update on the Japan thoroughbred farms http://web.me.com/kateinabox/Keiblog/Keiblog/Entries/2011/3/13_US_Horses_in_Japan_are_Safe,_Racing_Cancelled.html#. I’m not very techie so hope this works. Good article with maps and locations of farms. Info is very current.
Ann from Indiana
I live just two hours north of Kentucky in Indiana. We are a big basketball state as you probably know. IU, Ballstate and Purdue etc. Thanks for the daily posts, keep them coming!

So aching for a video of you. It’s been too long (for me anyhow). :/
Helen & Guido
Problems are minor because it is such a pleasure to read your posts. The photos are gorgeous, you are correct. You look happy and healthy. How fun it would be to see you in person.
Rita Stack
The photos are great Z, you always look so great. I thought I had missed some posts, thanks for pointing that out. Hugs to you. I want to visit you soon, can I do that? do I make an appointment?

Dear Zenny – I loved the picture of you and your adorable snowy whiskers – too cute. You do look beautiful in all of your shots — you did seem to really enjoy bathtime. I guess all girls like to be glammed up. Zenny I am a huge basketball fan – and a Lakers fan to boot. I am sure that you love the Lakers also simply because you are a California girl. As far as the March Madness games are going, I am rooting for Notre Dame. I am sure the California teams will do well. GO LAKERS!!! Love you beautiful girl. xoxoxo

The criticism of the spelling of “diary” -I never noticed that until it was pointed out…I guess I was TOO busy reading the content of the daily updates to even notice that…bottom line…I don’t care how it’s spelled…I see the question of do horses get “morning sickness” as humans do – no, they do not as a horse does not have the ability or physical structure to vomit. Although, I did know that information as I have a mare myself, there are many questions posted here that you can very simple got to “Google” and find the answer.
Barb France
I just loved the article with those wonderful pictures of you. Can’t get enough.
@toni, I just told my husband to look out for when the “Z” pin will come out (of course, I’ll mention it to him when it does) so he can “surprise” me, too!!
Chris H
The University of Northern Colorado is the first opponent for San Diego State, they have never been in “March Madness” so since they’re only a few miles away from me I’ve got to root for them. You look so beautiful in your photo today!

Great article and pictures. Have a great day Z.
victoria racimo

Will check out the b lood horse pix and article.

The Bloodhorse article is super and so are the pics of you!!!
Just wanted to tell Dottie and all involved a BIG THANK YOU for keeping this little ‘chat about you’ going so we can all keep up with you fairly daily!!! I know it takes a good bit of time and I for one am quite honestly very thankful for any and all news on my “still the big horse” Zenyatta!!!!
Christine Coleman
LOL! Thanks for pointing out the spelling of DIARY!! What a kick in the head to realize I am so mesmerized by Zenny I didn’t even notice! But Zenny is a perfectionist, so I think she would want that corrected! LOL
Christine Coleman
Zenny, I was wondering if you are bathed with hot or cold (warm) water. I don’t have the heart to bathe my horses with cold water unless we are baking alive with the humidity since we moved to SC. I’m from L.A. Just moved here in 2007. Thank you in advance for the info! Love you Big Girl!!!!
Gloria
Dang, Big Mama Z. I don’t know anything about basketball. :-( I only know horse racing. Anyway! Loved the pictures of you that Blood Horse did, and your snowy whiskers has become one of my all time favorites. Thank you for the update on the Z pin. I’m looking forward to getting one of those. If you have any other Zenyatta goodies to offer, I’d love it! Take care, girl! Love you!

All your photos were lovely; you still look race-horse thin, though. I love to give my horses a bath cuz they love the attention, but then have to put a sheet on them after they are dry because they will always want to roll again (like dogs!). Hope Charles managed to keep you clean for Ann’s visit. I love your soapy face!! What shampoo is used that gives you such good suds?
Mary Stanford
The pictures by Ms. Kelley are wonderful of you Z…but you are very photogenic. Wow…over 69,000 fans….you are one loved girl Z….but you make it so easy for us fans to love you…you are very special…not another like you and never will be. It is going to be really warm soon and I bet you will love being outside a lot more. I honestly do not like the cold at all….so bring on spring and summer. Hugs to you Z….
Alexandra Bowdoin
Thank you Dottie for these posts…I just love the picture of Z with the frozen whiskers, just might have to buy that one. I am looking forward to hearing about the “Z” pins…also, my prayers to all the animals and people of Japan….
Barbara Wood
Z–what a lovely picture of you in today’s “Dairy Post”. Dottie, I think that’s so funny. I’m a former English teacher, and I didn’t even notice the spelling. I was seeing what I expected to see. Makes me feel better about my typos!
Zenny, Zenny, Zenny– being a GIRLY-GIRL, you MUSTN’T forget the women’s division of the NCAAs. Our local Baylor Lady Bears are a #1 seed in the Dallas division. Don’t forget to keep up with the women as well (even if you are closer to Tennessee than Texas!)
Love you always, and prayers for a safe deilvery for LIS.

I am rooting for my alma mater, Michigan State. Go Spartans! If they tank, I’ll be cheering for Xavier, University of Cincinnati, or Ohio State.

Zenny is huge already!
