Good Morning Everyone,
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. We did at Lane’s End….and my BARN 55 Friends had a great time at Santa Anita on Saturday with CLOUD MAN winning! This was his first start ever and he really ran a wonderful race coming from far back…”out of the clouds”. A HIGH HOOF to him for sure! Then the TOC (Thoroughbred Owners of California) presented MY OWNERS with several fabulous honors and awards. Everyone is so kind!
This morning, I wanted to share with you my BRONZE done by Nina Kaiser. She is doing 100 of them this size. I explained the process to you in an earlier DIARY entry. She is now completing the project! Here’s JOHN with the one he and Dottie will have. It is Artist Proof #2! I really think she did an amazing job! It really looks just like ME…DANCING! Yeah, NINA!
And look at my John! He is teasing me that he just can’t resist ‘checking my legs’. He has done this for so many years each morning that it is really a ‘part of his daily routine’. He is laughing that now he can still ‘check them out’! My trainer is TOO CUTE!
At Lane’s End, I am hearing that lots of babies are being born. It is that time of the year. I’m going to ask about my friend, LIFE IS SWEET! From what I’ve been told, she is due around this time. I’ll get an update for you.
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

Dearest Z, That’s wonderful news about your owners getting that special recognition from the Thoroughbred Owners of California–they certainly deserve it! And congratulations to your whole team on Cloud Man’s victory–we’ll be cheering for him to have many more.
@ Eveline–thanks for that amazing link!

Dear Zenny the statue is georgous!! Such an excellent likeness of you. I went to Nina Kaiser’s website & she has done such a wonderful job of capturing your beauty & personality. I love the pictures of dear John & the statue. Thank you for the information about Life is Sweet. Could you tell us any information about the horses mentioned yesterday that are in Japan? Are they being brought home to the states? Thank you again Dottie these are the highlight of my day & so look forward to reading thoughts from Zenny. So many bad things in the world. Zenny is always such a ray of light. Hugs & kisses!!!

@Karen Mitchell – Your back!!!! Yea! You were missed. :)
@Kathryn – Thank you for the civility article. What a wonderful place we all have to share with our lovely Zenny and each other. It is like nothing else and brings so much joy. :) :)
@LauraJ – The pictures were terrific. What fun watching Zenny get her bath and those icy whiskers, TOO CUTE! She is certainly photogenic, no matter what she is doing.
@Shari Voltz – So sorry to hear about the flooding in your area. I know you have all been hit hard all across the east with winter storms and now flooding. Hope everything is alright with your home and the school and the beautiful spring sunshine helps things dry out soon.
@Barbara Wood – My thoughts and prayers will be with you for your surgery. Hope everything goes great and your back on your feet dancing like Miss Z soon.
@Lizzy – Feel better.
Goodnight my beautiful Zenyatta. Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO

Meant to also add our congratulations to Cloud Man. Way to go!

Nice pictures of John holding your bronze replica. I was at Santa Anita last Saturday. Cloud Man came way from the back and won. Did you teach him how to do that? I miss you Queen Z and I love you!

Dear Queen Zenyatta, Big Momma!

Congratulations to your family! Our lovely Ann and Jerry, and the whole team, were honored over and over again. They make us proud! Here’s a write-up: http://www.toconline.com/resources/press-

We think of John often, and wonder what it must be like to make the transition from a Barn WITH Zenyatta to a Barn without Zenyatta. To see John’s expression as he admires the beautiful bronze is just precious and says it all.
.
Thanks to everyone for the links to pictures, videos, articles. This place is so enriching and I hope our good vibes extend across the ocean to our Japanese friends and family, and to the precious horses housed there as well.
.
Thanks to Dottie, Voice of Zenyatta!

Dear Z Fans:
Thanks for all the fantastic links you’ve posted. Enjoyed them very much. Great photos of Z. Love to all of you. Judy and Russ
Dani
John you are just ‘too cute’ in these photos. Always the trainer even with a mini-Zenyatta. I still remember the photo of Zenny checking out the mini-Zenyatta back at Barn 55 (I believe that’s where it was taken). Nina Kaiser sculpted a magnificent replica of Zenny. (Sorry Sophie it’s not a toy :). I hope she gets to do the life size one that I am sure they will have at Santa Anita one day. Then what will you do John?? :)
.
Mathea Kelley’s photographs are just marvelous. I honestly never get over being awestruck everytime I see new photos of her. Is she getting more beautiful as time goes on? She has always been a pure beauty but she just always seems to take on even more of an ethereal look about her. Of course she can also make you laugh in others, like bath time. What a personality she has. I have to say I am a bit partial to the photographs of her with her friends. They are just so heartwarming. And who should she be next to while they are strolling along but the adorable Pirate Queen…always at her side.
.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Moss on all their awards – so richly deserved. And they are well on their way to another great year. Now I wonder who has picked out these terrific horses that are doing so well? (Congratulations to you Dottie and David on your vast knowledge of pedigree and eagle eyes).
.
Thanks to everyone who shared links….Ensign, Eveline, LauraJ, Astrid, Kathryn Cogswell and Happy Harriet. As many of us have said before and the little article about the site reiterated, it is such a wonderful community of people. We all seem to be getting closer and closer – like a family now. ‘Visiting’ with everyone is so much fun.
Jenna
Such a beautiful statue…but not as beautiful as the real girl.
Love you Z!!!

Dearest Zenyatta
It is so nice to read your posts again, I had missed a few and they stopped coming…I was so upset when #100 came and there was no more, but I have a heart of a Champion also and I found you and got you back!!!
The statue is wonderful but I have watched your lifetime since as far as I can remember…and seen you many times at Santa Anita and Del Mar.
You are the greatest racehorse of my lifetime, my James says it will be 50 or 100 years before any one like you comes along again…if ever. I am going to marry him next month and we are going to Santa Anita for our honeymoon…an offer I couldn’t refuse…lol…thats where we met you.
Have a lovely time carrying your first baby…I know you will be a great mommy, just as you were a great racehorse. You still bring so much love…even thru the computor.
LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU ZENYATTA

Thanks everyone for the links-this site makes my day!! Z-I love the frozen whiskers. That picture reminds me of my younger days coping with horses in the frozen north. Have a blessed day everyone!

Dear Zenyatta I did not get to write last night. I was so busy. The children and I have a suprise for your Birthday. They keep asking me about it. I am going to email Sarah and let her know what we have planned. I love the Bronze of you. I wish I could get one but a little out of a teacher’s price range. I love my ornament Mrs. Moss sent me. I have that sitting out all the time. I just think your family is SO SPECIAL. I am glad they are still getting awards. I am also happy Cloud Man won. I love the name. Here is a bit of history. We are studying the Revolutionary War right now. The horse that Paul Revere rode was called Brown Beauty. I always try to add something with horses to our studies. The children love it. Well sweet girl I hope you have a good day. I send you my love and my student’s love too. Shari from Ohio XXXOOO
Elizabeth
Zennie, you are such a Majestic MOM and so-o-o photogenic! The pics of you by Mathea Kelley are beautiful.
John admiring and ‘inspecting’ your bronze legs put such a smile on our faces today. Last month we ordered one of Nina Kaiser’s bronzes of YOU! Nina did such an awesome creation. Zennie, we can’t see you in person, but we’ll see you in our living room every day! Thanks again, Team Valor for sharing these wonderful updates.
From the mountains of New Mexico – Elizabeth
PS Cloud Man – what an AWESOME, thrilling race this past weekend
Robbie Pfeufer Kahn
To Karey R: You are right. Nonetheless, if we chastised them or even kicked them off they’d go right back to their bigger than life (bigger than Zenyatta!) incivility.
Trisha Veazey
The bronze is wonderful, however the real thing is even more wonderful. I wish I could have one of both!!!!!
Love hugs and kisses gorgeous one.
Barbara
Is Bernardini your boyfriend this year? I think you and him will make a great baby. It’s too bad Barbarao didn’t survive. U @ would have made a good baby too!

Thanks for sharing the BRONZE that was presented to John. Your beautiful legs are well captured here. John looks so happy to be able to check out your legs again. I know he misses you. Z, you are looking great. Love the photos in Bloodhorse, especially the one with your frozen whiskers. :)
Roberta Smith
So good to hear from you Zenyatta! Hope you are eating well and taking good care of yourself! Oh..the babies are being born..you must be so excited to see the little ones! I want a bronze statue of you also – what is the cost? Talk to you later. Hope you get outside in the sun today! I love you Zenyatta! XXXX
Abby
I just wanted to say that I love your diary posts Zenny. And also, I think it’s wonderful that everyone on here is so supportive of one another. Too often I read posts on other websites where people viciously attack others. It seems fitting that the beautiful Zenyatta has brought us together, as though we are a small community. As corny as this sounds, thank you everyone for being so amazing on here! It’s a breath of fresh air.
Pamela Zacek
What a perfect image of you Z, and I am glad, this post came up, makes my day, for sure, also, Im glad John had a winner again, and what a cool Name, and what you said, reminds me of you Zen, coming out of no where, and winning, Hope all goes well, with your friend, Love ya Queen Zen,
Katie Scott
Hi Zenny,
I had to check and yes! Cloud Man is a Moss horse AND trained by John Shirreffs AND wasn’t run until he was a three year old.
I love that – let them grow up an extra year!! That should be the norm not the exception.
Love you Big Z!
