Ah, “The greatest comeback since Lazarus” was one of Tom Durkin’s best calls! Glad Da Hoss had a nice long retirement at the Kentucky Horse Park where they obviously loved him and took such great care of him. He was quite a horse. RIP Da Hoss, beautiful one. Condolences to all who loved this champion.

I was greatly saddened to hear about Da Hoss RIP. but was very glad to hear about Shinny. I was needing a bit of good news as I’ve been a bit bummed the last couple days as a little beagle dog got him by a snow plow and was thrown over into our yard. In the seven years plus the little bit of this one, that makes 3 dogs and a little fawn that have been claimed by this darn road we live on. On a happier note, we’re getting our driveway cleared tomorrow so perhaps we can get out to the store. I hope everyone’s New Year is starting out a little better.
So sorry about the fires in Colorado and your recent diagnosis. Martha. Sending best wishes for a full recovery. Did you see that our boy Tap the Gavel is running at Tampa Bay on Saturday?????

Just an fyi…a new book by James Patterson and Mike Lupica is coming out today. It’s called The Horsewoman.
As most-read know, James Patterson is a crime novelist whose books are pretty gritty, but he does occasionally write “regular” novels. This appears to be one of the regular ones.
Mike Lupica is a very well-respected sports reporter and a novelist himself.
Here’s a synopsis that I read: Maggie Atwood and Becky McCabe – mother and daughter, both champion riders – vowed to never, ever, compete against one another.
But a dramatic turn of events ahead of the Paris Olympics changes everything.
Mother and daughter share a dream: to be the best in the world. Only one rider can fulfill that dream and make history.

Seems everybody can get snow except the NC piedmont! We are to have a half-dozen snowflakes and then freezing rain with high winds. You know what that means — high probability of power outages. Give me snow anytime! Sunday afternoon and evening will bring rain. Very dismal.
