Not only does Sergio de Sousa keep Cozmic One happy and healthy at his farm, he goes out of his way to share updates with us. Here’s a glimpse into Coz’s birthday morning at De Sousa Stables.
Dear Judy,
I would like to know where Oscar Performance’s full brother from last year is, also. Third Act was a lovely foal — don’t know if that name was made official, but it was his foal name. I am sure he will be quite stunning now.
Hugs and Love
Dear Judy,
Thanks for this. They made his name official with Act Three — his baby name had been “Third Act”, I think. Hope he is doing well!
Hugs and Love
Dear Judy,
Thanks again for posting this link. I noticed that another Mill Ridge favorite, “Fancy Face”, Hip#1748 would be sold at the yearling sale today. She is by Into Mischief out of Zia (xMunnings). You can see why they called her Fancy Face at the farm — that’s some blaze! Good luck to her, too! I sure hope she lands in a wonderful spot.
Hugs and Love❣️
Hello Zenyatta.
Any latest pictures of you Team Z can share? Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and healthy!! Love and hugs to you and yours babies!! ???
Sorry I’m not good on the computer but there was a beautiful picture of Coz with Sergio de Sousa in the Paulick Report on 9/16. Maybe someone can publish a link. The article with it was great. Also saw a very good video in Bloodhorse online about Bold and Bossy. She is doing well though her future is uncertain. She’s adorable.
Some updates on the Keeneland sale:
The final bid on Act Three was $485,000, but the results list him as RNA – evidently his owners had a higher price in mind. He may have been sold privately since then – those results are not reported.
Fancy Face (by Into Mischief out of Zia) was sold for $100,000.
Thanks to Judy for posting the link to the article about The Pistol. I meant to do that and just forgot. Wish he was going to be somewhere closer than California, but once we get a name, we can continue to follow him. We were trying to encourage the Mill Ridge folks to attach a name tag ?
Dear Sandy,
Thanks a million for the news on Act Three, “Fancy Face” and “The Pistol”.
Wonder what the official names will be for Fancy and Pistol — it will be
interesting to find out.
Hugs and Love
Happy Retirement to the amazing, Monomoy Girl.
Get well and enjoy some sunshine and treats.
Good Luck.
Zenny- gotten your pumpkins? Bet you like pumpkin bread!
Love to all.
Dear Ann and Judy,
I join you both in adding all the very Best wishes to Monomoy Girl in retirement. Thanks for the thrills, beautiful MG!! Good health and Lots of Love, always.

RIP beautiful Santa Barbara. Such a tragedy. ?
Running free now with winged feet. ?
Condolences to all who mourn this lovely girl.

Hugs and Love
COZ is just so gorgeous and hoping Bold and Bossy recovers completely and has a long, healthy, happy life whatever the future holds; racing or not. Love and Hugs, JB
Happy Friday everyone!
I was in the process of posting this earlier and got diverted. Forgot to come back?. Anyhoo the moving process has begun at Hovey’s yard. Apparently he has a surprisingly amount of “emergency” supplies.?. Mum is busy packing.
Dear Sandy,
Thanks for the weekly Hovis visit! My what a sharp tongue he has — very funny, but at poor Mum’s expense. Something tells me she has a little bit to do with “putting words in his mouth”, yes? What a great comic team they are!
Hugs and Love ?
Here’s hoping Monomoy Girl has a super retirement. Also looking forward to hearing how Coz does in the 2nd Chance competition this weekend. I loved reading about Mr. Sousa’s philosophy that Coz actually doesn’t have to win. As he put it “He’s just having fun.” So glad to hear that. My dear sweet Tommy lived in Santa Barbara for many years. When I first saw that name I had to smile. I know many others have said this, but may she RIP and run free. May everyone both two footed and four legged have sweet dreams and a peaceful nights sleep.
In case you haven’t heard yet, Keep Me In Mind and Medina Spirit won’t be running in the Pennsylvania Derby today. Even though he may not have run too well in some of his past races, I’m still rooting for Hotrod. Go Charlie.
Wild finish in the Penn Derby between Charlie and Bourbon. Congrats to Charlie surviving an inquiry. Hat’s off to Bourbon too. Hope everyone came back safe and sound. Will post the replay once it’s up. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy,
Thanks for posting the Penn Derby replay. I got my 3rd Pfizer shot yesterday, and I think that’s why I dozed off this afternoon and missed seeing it. Congrats to Hot Rod Charlie and all connections! Congrats to Midnight Bourbon, also.
Hugs and Love
Love theses two. Bourbon never gives up and Charlie swinging wide, yikes.
Last time there was a wide swing the words really went flying between jocks.
Anyway, Congrats to Team Charlie and Lava Man. Good job keeping him focused Lava!
The Turf Monster race was also exciting as a 10year old with 99/1 odds won.
The announcer also called how they broke from the gate in an almost perfect line. Beautiful and rare. Hope this winner can now retire on a lovely farm. He has earned it!
Nice racing from Parx. Felt 16 again looking at that tote board. Nice treat. What a classic!
Hope Coz enjoyed his show.
Good Grief! Is it just me or does anybody else wonder if perhaps Charlie doesn’t need another jockey or perhaps some other equipment like blinkers or maybe a different bit. This is getting ridculous, redundant and not fair. What the heck is going on? As a fan of Charlie’s I’m glad he won, but why is there always a cloud over his race?
Big Congrats to Straight Skinny and Kendrick Carmouche on winning the maiden claiming Race 2 today at Belmont going off at 44-1!! The favorite passed him, but he was not having it. Straight Skinny is by Beautyinthepulpit out of Tummy Tuck(xStraight Line-Love Handles) — gotta love those names! Trainer: Mark Henning.
Sadly, in Race 4, there was incident near the finish where Happy Happy Bee went down and Jose Ortiz fell off. Poor horse suffered a catastrophic injury to the right front leg and was euthanized. RIP, brave one. Jose was sent to hospital for possible leg injury so was out for the rest of the day. I saw HHB fall and covered my face — there was no outside influence. I think everyone was shaken, especially Acaccia and Maggie, but they had to carry on. They did go to a needed break. I love this sport, but it does absolutely rip your heart out sometimes. ?
Hope Jose isn’t too badly hurt.
Hugs and Love
Dear Judy,
You are so right! The fractional second that it took from the start of the fall to closing my eyes wasn’t quick enough. It was an unnatural
motion and a horrible sight. Of course, the camera instantly cut to the horses passing the finish line. I will always remember it and the tragic irony that Happy Happy Bee (B?) didn’t get his happy ending.
RIP sweet baby. So sorry. ?
Hugs and Love

Thanks for the update on Jose Ortiz — glad he is okay.
Not again! RIP HHB. If no information means Coz didn’t qualify for the finals I kind of have to agree with Mr. DeSousa that Coz is just in this for FUN so its not exactly a tragedy of epic proportions but more like too bad or I’ll get ’em next time.
May everyone two-footed and four-legged have sweet dreams and a lovely night.

I do remember hearing Mr. Bell or Price calling him Third Act. I guess the owners settled on Act Three. Hope he’s living a happy life.
I did find the video. What a magnificent sight those beautiful yearlings running free. Thanks for posting the video here.
